Abstract

Reading is a very beneficial supply of knowledge, especially for students. To produce knowledge, students ought to recognize a reading. Because studying and perception a reading is different, this research goals to determine the analyzing comprehension potential of students the use of the PORPE method or not, and whether or no longer it has an effect. There will be 5 conferences in the classroom, the first is a pre-test, the second is remedy and the ultimate is a post-test. SMA N four Bengkulu City is where this lookup took place. Researcher bought 2 instructions in conducting this research, particularly category XI IPA 3 as an experimental classification totaling 29 students, and classification XI IPA 4 as a control category totaling 29 people, a complete of 58 students. To analyze the data, the researcher used the t-test sample system the usage of SPSS 20. Before conducting the research, the researcher observed that the problem in the category to be studied was that their reading comprehension ability used to be nonetheless exceedingly weak. It can be viewed from the English rankings and analyzing tests from the type teacher data. This is due to various factors, such as the boring method taught, the students' lack of activity in studying and the lack of memorizing the vocabulary they know. In this case, the PORPE technique is expected to be the solution. The objectivity of this research is 1. To determine whether there is an effect of the use of the PORPE approach on analyzing capabilities in eleventh grade students of SMA N four Bengkulu City. two To find out whether or not there is a huge distinction between the studying comprehension of students taught with the PORPE method and those taught except the PORPE method. After examining the data, the researcher concluded that there used to be a substantial impact of the usage of the PORPE approach on studying comprehension of students of SMAN four Bengkulu which was based on statistical calculations, the importance price of t was 0 much less than 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average scholar studying effects between the PORPE gaining knowledge of model and the traditional model. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Zero Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.Keywords: Reading Comprehension, PORPE Method

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the preparation, processing and assessment of scientific approach in teaching the English language for students’ grade 7 level of Islamic Junior High School. The design of this study is a case study with a qualitative approach. The subject of this research is two English teachers who teach the English language in MTsN Nganjuk. Data collection in this study by conducting observations, learning documents, and conducting semi-structured interviews. The findings: 1) Teachers already working to continuously improve the preparation methods and instruments of learning that can be assessed as an indication of success in the implementation of Curriculum 2013, especially in grades 7 MTsN Nganjuk. 2) Teachers already tried the maximum to implement the appropriate lesson plans written and well though not intensive, teachers have developed competence spiritual students, social and skills through giving some advice, interaction and learning activities are inserted when explained. 3) Teachers have been implemented the assessment process in MTsN Nganjuk. In terms of assessment, the teachers used two types of assessment, namely, authentic and non-authentic.

Abstract

The pandemic that came in 2019 has ruined learning process forced students living in the with less support territory to drop their school. Even though virtual teaching had been declared from the very beginning to overcome and compensate the pandemic situation, the readiness to adapt the urgent sudden shift become a major issues worldwide, especially to the less support area such as Jayapura. Under this clutter, teachers play an important role to selectively determine the most proper and utilizable media that fits the students’ situation. Therefore, this study was aimed to investigate teachers’ wisdom in Jayapura in terms of media selection, their perfomance using the media, and students’ challenge due to using the. A descriptive quantitative survey research method was applied by assinging 5 questionnaire items adopted from Technology Acceptance Model to 123 students. The data found that students in remote area faced less trouble than students in urban area due to the teachers’ wisdom to select the most proper and applicable teaching media requiring less quota according to the limited circumtance in remote area.

Abstract

This research is intended to seeing   the reading strategies as predictors of reading comprehension; the categories of reading strategy in this research are cognitive metacognitive compensation and social. This research was carried out to answer the problem is there any significant predictors  of reading strategy to reading comprehension. This research used a quantitative approach with correlational research design. Correlational research design was used for investigating the contribution of independent variables to the dependent one. The students of  Junior High School  of Kediri ( MTS N I,II,III Kota Kediri ) were chosen as the subject of research with 730 populations of students. After being computed using accessibility sample, the sample is amount 319 students. Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate whether there is any difference of students speaking skill who are taught project based learning and who are taught task based learning . there is any difference of students who have intrinsic motivation and students who have extrinsic motivation, and there is any interaction between PBL strategy and students’ motivationThe study was carried out in a population of 154 students of the XI grade at SMK NU Pace Nganjuk. A random sampling was done to select two classess out collection involved two of instruments, namely a speaking test and a questionnaire. The questionnaire in the form of topic familiarity assessment was administered to collect data of the learners’ motivation. The data from speaking test and questionnaire were used to predict students’ interest and student achievement on speaking skill . The data were analyzed by using ANOVA with the help of t SPSS v.20. the result turned out to confirm that there is significant positive effect project based learning on students’ speaking achievement and the interaction between students’ motivation and teaching technique.The result of the data analysis showed that the means of speaking of experimental group taught by using PBL strategy and the control group taught by task  based learning had statistically significant difference. It indicated that the students who were taught by using PBL strategy have better score in reading comprehension than those who are taught by using Task based Learning strategy.Then the analysis of interaction factor between learning method and learning motivation showed that there is interaction between PBL strategy and students’ motivation. It meant that PBL was more effective in intrinsic motivation than conventional strategy. Based on the previous result, the highes mean score was found in group of PBL strategy  with extrinsic motivation. While the lowest mean score was found in the task based learning with extrinsic motivation.Based on the result, the PBL strategy could be suggested to teacher as an alternative strategy for teaching speaking . but in this case, the students’ learning motivation influences how the students can speaking English well.Key words : speaking, PBL, motivation

Abstract

The pandemic era has brought changes to every aspect, including the education sector. Distance learning is a role model that is currently used in carrying out teaching and learning activities (KBM). Moodle is present as one of the platforms of choice in facilitating the distance learning process. This study aims to describe students' perception of the use of Moodle in English Language Teaching during covid-19 at the Islamic Institute of Abdullah Faqih Gresik. This study used descriptive quantitative with survey method. Data collection using a questionnaire. Data validation of this study is used SPSS 24. Meanwhile, data analysis is used descriptive statistical analysis by looking for the average data (mean). Subjects in this study are 130 students that are divided into 2nd, 4th, and 6th semesters of the Islamic Insititute of Abdullah Faqih. The result of this study showed that the sub-statement on the ease of usage, the overall average is 3.76 with high rank; sub-statement on Perceived Usefulness, the overall average 3.74 with high rank; sub-statement on communication and interaction, the overall average 3.58 with high rank; sub-on statements Students’ Satisfaction shows average 3.82 with high rank. The researcher also found another finding of several main points that can be taken from student receptions on the application of Moodle in learning English. In general, the student's response to the application of this model is quite good.

Abstract

 Tatwirul lughoh program that is designed to improve foreign language speaking. The program has became the spirit where all students must use two languages, English and Arabic. The purpose of the tatwirul lughoh is to support education and to form a person who are understand and good at speaking foreign languages. 24 hours a day santri uses foreign language to interact directly with their friends, for example Arabic and English which are scheduled alternately in each week. So in one week the students are required to use English,This study was experimental research design to examine the degree of  between pretest and postest towards students’ oral communication skill. The population of this study was students of MA Al Amanah Bilingual Sidoarjo, which were 12 students as the samples. It was a qualitative and quantitative research. The instruments were a speaking test and questionnaires.The result of the statistical analysis shows that the effectiveness between pretest and postest simultaneously towards speaking is calculated with the T-test is 14.4166,  It means that there is a significant improvement between before and after joining the Tatwirul Lughoh program in oral communication skill. That way, the treatment in Tatwirul Lughoh program is succesfully running well, because it can make an improvement to the students in oral communication skill, it can be concluded that the mean of pretest is 39.9167 and posttest is 54.3333. In addition the teaching material and the teaching strategy are the supporting factor to improve the students in oral communication skill.Based on the findings of this study, several suggestions are addressed for English teachers and future researchers. For the teachers, they can help students to explore their ability in learning English particularly speaking skill. For future researchers, who want to conduct the similar topic, might include qualitative data, such as the result of interview with teacher or students to know what program language that can make improve their oral communication skill and how it managed. In elaborating with quantitative data, the future researchers could use the experimental research design to know how the effectiveness of the language program treatment itself especially in oral communication skill.Key Words  : Tatwirul Lughoh, Oral Communication, Perception.

Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate: (1) the objective of speaking and dormitory program, (2) the strategies used in both programs, and (3) the management of the programs in Smart International Language College. The research design used was descriptive case study with interview, observation, and documentation as the instruments. The data was analyzed by qualitative data analysis by Miles and Huberman (1994); data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The researcher stayed in dormitory and joined the programs for two weeks. The finding showed that speaking and dormitory programs were done twice in a day. In preparation, the tutor must join “asistansi” by joining and observing the class for a month to feel the real class atmosphere. Then, it is a must to join “micro teaching” by teaching the Smart team including the director who being the students to get some evaluations. Both programs were evaluated as internal and external evaluation. Smart ILC had some uniqueness. Smart had its own standard time called WIS (Waktu Indonesia Smart). Also, Smart had test schedule called “Placement Test”. In the class, the different color was used in different function. There were black, red, blue, and green.

Abstract

Google Translate (GT) as one of the items given by Google has become a well known interpretation device for language understudies. As English thought to be an unknown dialect in Indonesia, numerous Indonesian understudies use GT to help them in learning English. This device will in general assist the understudies with getting the interpretation rapidly and without any problem. Accordingly, this examination was utilized to research senior high school students’ perceptions on the role of Google Translate in English learning aid.   This investigation utilizes a review strategy. The review was picked in light of the fact that this examination thought about the time and pandemic circumstance. To gather the data by utilizing a survey and to circle back to interviews for additional top to bottom information. The inclusion of the two information from the study and those from the meeting is to acquire more reliable data concerning understudies' discernment toward Google Translate in English learning aid. GT is often used to help the process of translating from English to Indonesian. Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to identify the connection between the ability to interpret and learn, the ability to read and read, the ability to translate and the tendency to read and read. This is a correlational method of research that is a form of quantitative research. The population of the study is the students’ fifth semester in UNU Blitar. The sample are 52 students. Test and questionnaire are the methods used to collect the data. The test collects translation and reading data, whereas the questionnaire is used to know the reading pattern of students. The results of this research reveal that 1) the correlation between interpreting and reading is positive. (rxly=4.85); 2) there is a positive correlation between reading habit and reading skill (rx2y=2.32); and 3) there is a positive correlation among translation ability, reading habit and reading skill (R = 0.497). The results of this research indicate that the ability to interpret and read behaviors relate in particular to the students' ability to read and address the question of the tests. Language skills and comprehension practice should also be applied in teaching and comprehension learning. A teacher of English has to organize certain activities in his curriculum that increase the ability to read and to read habits related to teaching.Keywords: Translation Ability, Reading Habit, Reading Skill
