Abstract

Diabetes and obesity go hand in hand. Antidiabetic drugs are effective in treating diabetes. However, currently available antidiabetic drugs are too expensive, do not work, and cause major side effects. A significant therapeutic option for Diabetes Mellitus and obesity is using bioactive chemicals produced by plants. This compound is efficacious, easily accessible, safe, and affordable. The main aim of this study was to determine whether pancreatic extract from Moringa oleifera flowers affected blood amylase and lipase levels, as well as the histological appearance, of obese male Wistar white rats (Rattus norvegicus). This is a True experimental study, with the research design used as a test control Group Design. The research data was then analyzed with the help of SPSS using ANOVA and Post Hoc Test with LSD technique. This researcher used 24 male rats. Treatment with Moringa oleifera flower extract improves pancreatic function in obese Wistar white rats by reducing serum lipase and amylase levels. The results of research on serum lipase and amylase levels showed that a dose of 600mg/Kg BW improved pancreatic function in white rats of the Wistar strain that were obese.

Abstract

UV rays are oxidative because they can produce Reactive Oxygen Species and free radical compounds. The dangers of sun exposure can cause skin disorders such as aging at an early age (photoaging). Rosella flower petals can be used in medicine, jams, and natural food coloring because they contain flavonoids as antioxidants or free radical scavengers. The research aimed to determine the effect of administering Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) flower extract gel on TNF-α expression and Caspase-3 expression in an in vivo study of Wistar mice exposed to UVB. This research is an experimental study. The sample for each treatment group consisted of 6 individuals, so the total research sample was 24. Data analysis used descriptive, normality, and homogeneity tests with data analysis processing using SPSS 25.0 for Windows. The study found that administration of rosella flower extract gel with a concentration of 15% effectively reduced the expression of TNF-α and Caspase-3 in mice exposed to UVB light and produced filled and dense collagen. So, it can be concluded that rosella flower extract gel can act as an antioxidant that inhibits the growth of TNF-α and Caspase-3 expression.

Abstract

Wounds result in loss of epithelial continuity with or without loss of underlying connective tissue. The dynamic and complex wound-healing process restores tissue integrity and balance. Medicinal plants in herbal medicine, namely Binahong, help heal wounds. This study tested binahong (Anredera cardifolia) leaf extract ointment on the thickness of granulation tissue in white rat (Rattus novergicus) incision wounds. Binahong leaf extract was applied at 15%, 25%, and 35%, then the wound was examined macroscopically and histopathologically. The type of research was a true experiment with a sample of 24 male Wistar rats, six per group, in four groups (control, treatment 1, treatment 2, treatment 3). The histopathological image of granulation tissue thickness shows that the P0 group (blue) has less collagen density. Treatment group 3 (P3) with 35% binahong leaf extract showed thick collagen. Analysis of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and significant paired t-test values greater than p>0.05 for all groups. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test shows that the data is regularly distributed. Paired T-test showed significant differences in incision wound healing between groups (p-value <0.05). The research concludes that binahong leaf extract has antiseptic, antibacterial, and ascorbic acid properties and protects against oxidation, so it is helpful for wound healing.

Abstract

Several health problems can arise from obesity, including an increased risk of diabetes mellitus, heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. High cholesterol levels are associated with obesity, which is a health risk in and of itself. Achieving excellent health requires careful monitoring of cholesterol levels, and one way to do this is to eat foods rich in antioxidants. Specifically, this study used a laboratory experimental design, a true of experimental quantitative research. The research used twenty-four male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). This study set out to compare the pre-and post-administration of Telang flower extract (Clitoria ternatea) to total cholesterol levels in the blood of rats (Rattus norvegicus). The tests were administered for homogeneity, one-way ANOVA, and normality. After that, SPSS was used to examine the study data. Researchers observed that compared to other methods, a 600mg/KgBW dose of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea) significantly reduced total cholesterol levels in obese male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) from 65.06mg/dl to 37.46mg/dl. The study found that the phytochemical content of Telang flowers helped obese people lower their cholesterol levels.

Abstract

Obesity and high cholesterol levels have garnered clinical attention for male infertility. The numerous compounds in Kelor flowers or Moringa make it a potential cholesterol medication. The research data were analyzed using SPSS, and the study was conducted as a true experiment using test animal samples of twenty-four male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). The purpose of this study was to examine the histopathological features of obese male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) and to determine whether or not the administration of Kelor flower extract (Moringa ternatea) reduced cholesterol levels and improved testicular function. Obese white Wistar rats had their total cholesterol levels decreased by 400 mg/kgBW and 600 mg/kgBW of Kelor flower extract, respectively, according to the study's results. The group that received 600 mg/kgBW of Kelor flower extract showed the most improvement and was the most similar to the control group in testicular histopathology studies. The substances found in Kelor or Moringa flowers have been found to improve testicular function and lower total cholesterol levels in people who suffer from obesity, according to the research.
