Abstract

PT Ancol Terang Metal Printing Industri is one of the industries engaged in manufacturing that produces packaging with metal raw materials. The problem faced by the company is the existence of defects in 300 ml Diameter Type Sardine Packaging products in 2022 and 2023 with an average defect value exceeding the 1% standard that has been set by the company. The purpose of this research is to control the quality of Sardine Packaging products with a diameter of 300 ml using the Six Sigma method through the DMAIC stage. Based on the results of the Define stage data analysis, 5 types of defects were obtained with CTQ: miss print, dent, scratch, welding and Internal Side Stripping. The Measure stage received a DPMO value of 3,137 in 2022 with a Sigma level of 4.21 and in 2023 of 3,871 with a Sigma level of 4.17 in the industry average category. The Analyze stage using pareto diagrams found that the types of defects that often occur are miss prints, dents and scratches. The causes of defects obtained from fishbone diagrams are humans, machines, methods and materials. The Improve stage that can be given to the company in general is to increase work supervision on operators, schedule machine control and make SOP schedules in the maintenance department, conduct training for operators and make material planning stock control cards to prepare more fresh ink materials in the prino department.

Abstract

Pelayaran Tonasa Lines is a company that distributes cement produced by PT. Semen Tonasa to various cities across Indonesia by ship. However, the company often faces challenges in its ship operations due to delays in supplying parts needed for ship maintenance, which disrupts the distribution process. This issue arises from an unorganized spare parts warehouse management system, with parts stored using a randomized storage method, where placement is irregular and not fixed. Consequently, spare parts retrieval takes longer, especially when warehouse staff changes. To address this problem, a study was conducted to redesign the warehouse layout and storage system using the dedicated storage method, assigning each spare part a fixed storage location. The study results indicate a significant improvement in efficiency, with a reduction in round-trip travel distance by 340 meters from an initial 988 meters (a 65.6% decrease), a reduction in occupied floor area by 9.5 square meters from an initial 39.5 square meters (a 75.9% decrease), and an average rack travel distance reduction of 17.9 meters from 44.9 meters (a 60.1% decrease). These findings demonstrate that the implementation of dedicated storage provides substantial improvements in spare parts warehouse management at PT. Pelayaran Tonasa Lines.

Abstract

The minimum distance of the new facility from the residential area is as far as 2 kilometers. Regulations are made to prevent pollution that can pollute residential areas. This study discusses the problem of determining the location of new facilities and determining the route of pollution vehicles by considering the minimum distance of the facility to the residential area of the compound route. The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematical model for the problem of determining the location of facilities and vehicle routes that considers the minimum distance of the facility to residential housing and compound routes. This study develops a mathematical model in the form of Mixed Integer Quadratic Programming (MIQP). The trial was conducted with 2 scenarios, namely 2 and 3 facility candidates, and from 7 to 13 customers. The trial scenario was carried out by changing the minimum distance from the facility candidate to the residential area, so that each scenario had 21 data processing times. From the results of data processing for the 2 facility candidates obtained, it can be seen that between the number of customers 7 to 13 there is no noticeable difference, and it still tends to look the same. Likewise with 3 facility candidates who do not show too big differences or even tend to be the same. The results obtained for 2 facility candidates with a minimum distance of 200 were 21,385.3, and the results for 3 facility candidates with a minimum distance of 200 were 21,237.3.

Abstract

The development of Industry 4.0 has brought a significant influence on Indonesian society to become all online. This causes food menus to be selected based on images, so that images become an important aspect in attracting consumer interest. In addition to changes in shopping styles and eating patterns, plus the trend of jungdood and emotional eating has had an impact on increasing Indonesia's obesity rate by 2 times. One of the solutions offered is to increase the consumption of healthy food. However, the fact is that photos of healthy foods trigger different responses when compared to foods high in fat and calories. So, a healthy food photo design is needed that gives the same effect as a photo of high-calorie high-fat food. This research focuses on the design of photos of traditional healthy food, namely kapurung to the photo design stage. Kansei engineering is used to find the characteristics and combinations of photos that consumers want. Then eye tracking determines the area of interest point on the photo object and the design combination. As well as factor analysis to determine the best kansei word representing traditional healthy food photos and couple comparisons to find the most preferred design. Based on the research conducted, the words kansei that represent the characteristics of healthy food photos according to respondents are "Creative", "Aesthetic", "Bright", "Fresh" and "Clear". In addition, the best photo in displaying the design according to respondents to display traditional healthy food photos is full styling with neutral presets

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company engaged in contracting for infrastructure development. In the process of infrastructure development, it is inseparable from the risk of work accidents. Based on the results of observations in the field, the potential for work accidents was found. This study aims to analyze potential hazards and provide improvement proposals to minimize the risk of work accidents in the Lombok Peaker PLTMGU Jetty Construction Project. The method used is HIRARC. HIRARC is used to identify the risk of work accidents as well as analyze hazards and provide improvement proposals to minimize existing risks. The results of the study were identified and there were 8 potential hazards in the construction of the Lombok Peaker PLTMGU jetty construction project, namely 25% potential hazards with low risk levels, 37% potential hazards with high risk levels and 38% potential hazards with extreme risk levels. Improvement proposals that can be given in the Lombok Peaker PLTMGU jetty construction project based on the K3 control hierarchy such as soil erosion around the temporary jetty area, standing under the process of material lifting by cranes and stacking steel pipes by eliminating to eliminate activities in the erosion area. This research is expected to minimize the risk of work accidents in the construction of the Lombok Peaker PLTMGU jetty construction project.

Abstract

Lecture chairs are one of the important facilities that must be owned by a university in the implementation of the teaching and learning process. Not limited to being available, but more than that, lecture chairs must also be comfortable and safe when used by students when attending lectures. Safe and comfortable chairs are needed so that students do not feel sore or experience other complaints after using lecture chairs for hours. This research aims to redesign conventional lecture chairs to be more ergonomic by using anthropometric data from PLN Institute of Technology. The data collection technique involves direct measurements of the subject's body dimensions to obtain accurate results. The method used in this study is the anthropometric method. The stages carried out start from anthropometric measurements, data adequacy and uniformity tests and make lecture chair designs. The results of the analysis show that the proposed chair design includes adjustment of the height of the backrest, height and width of the seat base, length of the writing base, as well as the length of the chair, taking into account the principle of ergonomics. From the calculation results, it was obtained that the seat design was 51cm in height, 66cm in height in the writing base, 47cm in height in the seat, 40cm in width, 55.16cm in length and 54.50cm in length. This design is expected to contribute to creating better educational facilities and improving the health and comfort of students.

Abstract

XYZ MSMEs are oyster mushroom cultivation businesses by making Baglogs (planting media) which are used as mushroom growth media. The obstacle faced by XYZ MSMEs is that the demand is not met by an average of 70% caused by the non-achievement of mushroom production against the production target of 500 kg/month, this is due to a baglog defect of 40%. This research aims to identify non-value-added activities that can affect the production process. The method used in this study is using the Lean Manufacturing approach which includes three stages, namely Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Process Activity Mapping (PAM) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). The results of this study showed that there was a decrease in production process time of 252 minutes or 4 hours and 2 minutes from the total time before the repair of 58,592 minutes to 58,340 minutes. In addition, 5 (five) types of waste were also obtained, including waiting time, operation, transportation, motion and defect product. Based on the waste obtained, the factors that cause waste are identified using FTAs. Based on the results of the identification, improvement proposals were given, namely placing raw materials in the same place, providing work equipment (gas and plastic baglogs), supplying equipment racks, using material handling in the form of thrusters, increasing the number of operators and implementing SOPs in each baglog production process.

Abstract

The Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) is a metric that shows the academic achievement of students during their studies. GPA can be influenced by various factors such as social activities carried out by students outside of study hours. This study aims to determine the difference in the average score of the Student Achievement Index (GPA) between students who have social activities and students who do not have social activities. The method used in data analysis is a 2-way ANOVA variance analysis (Two Way Analysis of Variance) in the SPSS Statistics 24 software. The results of the study show that the average score (means) of the GPA of Industrial Engineering students is 3.53, Mechanical Engineering 3.48 and Energy Business 3.78. Hypothesis 1 regarding the difference in average GPA between each major obtained a significant rate of 0.005 < 0.05. Hypothesis 2 regarding the difference in average GPA between socially active and socially inactive students obtained a significance level of 0.583 > 0.05 (sig 0.583 > 0.05). Hypothesis 3 regarding the interaction between the average GPA of students per department and activities was obtained with a significance level of 0.844 > 0.005 (sig 0.844 > 0.05). There was no difference in the results of the Student Achievement Index between students who were socially active and students who were not socially active.

Abstract

Inventory is one of the important aspects of a company's operations, especially in meeting consumer needs efficiently. However, suboptimal inventory management can lead to excess or shortage of stock that has an impact on the company's performance. This research was conducted on DANONE, a multinational company that produces food and beverages and operates in 130 countries. This study aims to measure the company's inventory management performance in the last two years using the inventory turnover, days inventory, and inventory to revenue methods. The results show that DANONE's inventory management performance is relatively low, with a decrease in inventory turnover from 6.44 in December 2021 to 3.07 in June 2022. This decline indicates a slowdown in sales and overstock as the main problem. The conclusions of this study show the need to improve inventory management in order to increase efficiency and support the achievement of company goals.

Abstract

PT. XYZ merupakan BUMN yang bergerak pada bidang jasa konstruksi yang melakukan pembangunan pelabuhan dermaga yang digunakan sebagai tempat bersandarnya kapal barang bermuatan gas yang merupakan bahan bakar pembangkit listrik utama pada PLTMGU Lombok Peaker. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, ditemukan potensi bahaya yang dapat menyebabkan kecelakaan seperti pekerjaan berada di bawah crane yang berpotensi menyebabkan kecelakaan apabila tali yang digunakan terputus. Jika tidak segera ditangani dapat menyebabkan pekerja mengalami cidera yang berujung pada kecacatan fisik bahkan dapat mengakibatkan kematian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) dengan tujuan mengidentifikasi bahaya yang timbul akibat dari kecelakaan kerja serta memberikan usulan perbaikan untuk meminimalisir risiko kecelakaan kerja. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapatkan 5 potensi bahaya yang ada yaitu 40% berada pada risiko extreme, 40% pada risiko high, dan 20% pada risiko medium. Usulan rekomendasi perbaikan yaitu memberikan arahan dan memastikan pekerja telah menggunakan APD, melakukan perbaikan pada keadaan lapangan, memberikan arahan dan saran untuk melaksanakan pekerjaan berdasarkan SOP yang benar sesuai dengan anjuran dari HSE. Diharapkan dari penelitian ini dapat meminimalisir risiko terjadinya kecelakaan kerja di PT. XYZ pada proyek Jetty PLTMGU Lombok Peaker sehingga pekerja dapat bekerja dengan aman.
