Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases in Indonesia. Blood glucose control is essential to prevent complications; therefore, identifying associated factors is crucial. Objective: To determine the factors associated with random blood glucose (RBG) levels among T2DM patients enrolled in the Prolanis program at Jatinegara Health Center in 2025. Methods: This study employed an analytical cross-sectional design involving 92 T2DM Prolanis patients. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, and medical records. Data analysis included univariate, bivariate (chi-square), and multivariate (logistic regression). Results: Most respondents had normal RBG levels (80.4%), were female (76.1%), aged >60 years (56.5%), and had a family history of diabetes (57.6%). Non-modifiable factors (sex, age, family history) and modifiable factors (BMI, knowledge, stress, fiber intake, and physical activity) were not significantly associated with RBG levels (p>0.05). However, carbohydrate consumption patterns emerged as the dominant factor increasing the risk of hyperglycemia (OR=4.08; 95% CI=0.869–19.171). Conclusion: Carbohydrate consumption pattern was identified as the dominant factor associated with random blood glucose levels among T2DM Prolanis patients at Jatinegara Health Center. Nutritional interventions and education on low-glycemic index diets should be strengthened to improve glycemic control.

Abstract

Scabies is a significant public health issue in densely populated environments like Islamic boarding schools, where high transmission rates are linked to poor hygiene and limited awareness. This study aimed to describe the levels of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of students regarding scabies at the Al-Firdaus Dormitory, Buntet Islamic Boarding School, Cirebon Regency. A quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach was used. The study population consisted of 130 students, from which a sample of 98 was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and physical examinations, and were analyzed using univariate analysis. The findings revealed that a majority of students had good knowledge (73.5%), a good attitude (56.1%), and good behavior (53.1%) toward scabies. Despite these positive indicators, 16.3% of the students were found to have scabies, suggesting a gap between awareness and consistent practice. The study concludes that while most students possess a high level of knowledge and a positive attitude, behavioral and environmental factors remain crucial challenges. Targeted interventions focused on practical hygiene training and improved living conditions are essential to effectively reduce scabies prevalence.

Abstract

This study analyzes the demand for insurance products in Indonesia as developing countries remains relatively low despite the significant market potential. From an economic perspective, insurance is a method for reducing risk by transferring and combining the uncertainty of financial losses. Thus, insurance is a social tool that transfers personal risks to all members of a group by utilizing pooled funds to pay for losses incurred under agreed upon terms. The insurance business in Indonesia has recently grown rapidly, including the entry of foreign investors into insurance businesses, either through share ownership or majority ownership in national insurance companies, with the increasing need for risk protection in a dynamic socio-economic context, it is crucial to more comprehensively understand the factors that drive and hinder insurance demand in developing countries. This study aims to review existing literature that explores the factors influencing insurance demand in developing countries, including individual, social, economic, and institutional aspects. A systematic literature review method was employed to analyze scholarly articles published over the past two decades. The findings reveal that factors such as income, education level, trust in financial institutions, financial literacy, government regulations, and risk perception significantly influence individuals' decisions to purchase health insurance products. These findings provide insights for policymakers and insurance industry stakeholders to design strategies aimed at enhancing insurance literacy and penetration in developing countries. The study also identifies research gaps that could be addressed in future empirical investigations. Additionally, cultural factors and access to insurance in Indonesia services also play a crucial role.

Abstract

The implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) at Fatimah Islamic Hospital Banyuwangi (RSI Fatimah Banyuwangi) is part of an important digital transformation in improving the quality of health services. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the implementation of EMR, as well as to identify challenges and potential improvements in its implementation. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design and multiple linear regression analysis to test the influence of factors such as acceptability, adoption, feasibility, fidelity, implementation cost, coverage, and sustainability on the implementation of EMR. The results show that all factors tested have a significant effect on the successful implementation of RME. Among these factors, coverage has the greatest influence with a regression coefficient of 0.995, followed by sustainability and feasibility. In addition, acceptability and adoption are also proven to contribute positively to the effectiveness of RME implementation. Although the implementation of EMR at RSI Fatimah Banyuwangi has been running well, challenges related to technical support, system sustainability, and expansion of EMR usage throughout all hospital units still need to be addressed. This study provides practical recommendations to improve technological infrastructure, enhance staff training, and ensure the maintenance and continuous updating of the EMR system.

Abstract

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, with increasing prevalence in Indonesia driven by social and economic development. This study aims to characterize infarct stroke patients at Waled Regional General Hospital, Cirebon, in 2023. A descriptive quantitative study with a retrospective approach was conducted, utilizing secondary data from medical records and CT-Scan reports of all eligible infarct stroke patients, totaling 51 cases. Data collection involved medical record forms and radiology reports, analyzed univariately using frequency distribution and percentages via statistical software. The results showed that most patients were male (54.90%), elderly (60.78%), and predominantly had subcortical infarct lesions (47.06%). No significant association was found between hypertension and lesion location, while the prevalence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus was low at 7.84% and 9.80%, respectively. The study concludes that the primary characteristics of infarct stroke patients in this region are middle-aged to elderly men with subcortical lesions. These findings provide a foundation for developing community-based preventive and educational programs, especially targeting vulnerable age groups. This research is essential for informing local health strategies and strengthening efforts to control stroke risk factors.

Abstract

Health is a fundamental right of every person in the world. To be healthy, health services are necessary. These health services are provided by health workers, one of which is nurses. The practice allows nurses to work independently outside hospitals and/or community health centres. This study aims to analyse the regulations and responsibilities of nurses who practise independently in providing nursing care as part of health services, as stipulated in Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health. The method used in this paper is a normative juridical method with a conceptual and regulatory approach. The data used is secondary data consisting of primary legal materials, secondary legal materials, and tertiary legal materials. The analysis was conducted qualitatively. The research findings show that Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health regulates legal relationships in the provision of health services differently from the old regulations. Within this framework, the analysis shows that it is necessary to provide clear regulations on nursing care activities carried out by independent nurses, particularly those related to the responsibilities that independent nurses must fulfil.

Abstract

Aging brings with it the consequence of an increase in various cardiovascular diseases, one of which is hypertension. Long-term use of antihypertensive drugs can cause various side effects, one of which is mental changes, thus non-pharmacological therapies such as music therapy are needed. There are many types of music therapy that can be applied, one of which is traditional music (gamelan). There are inconsistencies in previous research, so a combination of Balinese gamelan selonding music therapy with VR or Virtual Reality is needed. VR has become one of the leading innovations in the field of health and wellness, especially in the context of therapy and rehabilitation. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of VR-based Balinese gamelan selonding music therapy in reducing anxiety and blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension. The research method uses a quasi-experimental pre-post control group design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instruments in this study used an anxiety questionnaire, tensimeter, MP3/handphone, earphones and a VR Box. The results of this study show that the provision of VR-based Balinese gamelan selonding music therapy can reduce anxiety and blood pressure in the elderly.
