Abstract

Students have difficulty understanding electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solution materials, because they are required to understand three representations including symbolic, macroscopic, and submicroscopic. With e-module, it can increase students' interest in learning and e-module is designed so that students can study material independently and actively. This study aims to produce e-modules of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions based on steam integrated problem-based learning for SMA / MA to analyze the validity and practicality of the e-module. This study is 4D development model. E-module validity test was carried out by 3 lecturers of FMIPA an FT UNP, and 2 chemistry teachers. Practicality test was carried out by 2 chemistry teachers and 30 students of class XI of SMAN 1 Payakumbuh. Validity questionnaires were analyzed using the Aikens'V formula and practicality questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistical percentages. From results of the study, average score of Aikens'V was obtained at 0.97 with a valid category. Practicality value of e-modules obtained is 98%, 96% respectively with practical category. Based on results, can be concluded e-module is valid and practical. Therefore, this research can be continued to stage of effectiveness testing, so that this e-module can be used in the learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is a relationship between the level of students' interest in reading and their academic achievement. Interest in reading is treated as an independent variable in this study, while learning achievement is treated as the dependent variable. This study uses an ex-post facto design and a quantitative approach to analyze the data. The participants in this study were all fifth grade students at public elementary school 009 Teratak, Rumbio Jaya District, Kampar Regency. The number of students is 33. Various methods, including questionnaires and careful documentation, were used to collect the data used in this study. A direct application of linear regression analysis was chosen as the method for processing the data. According to the findings of this study, interest in reading turned out to have a positive effect on the learning achievement of fifth grade students at public elementary school 009 Teratak. The contribution value that can be obtained through reading interest is 21,2 percent. The influence of reading interest on the level of student achievement is calculated into high scores based on research findings, especially by observing the pattern that emerges from the distribution of their test scores. Based on the findings of this study, one can draw the conclusion that students' level of interest in reading has an impact on their academic performance. Increasing students' interest in reading is a form of long-term investment that can help students in the learning process and can also support students in achieving a higher level of learning achievement than before.

Abstract

This study aims to produce STEAM-PjBL (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics-Project Based Learning) integrated LKPD on the material of Molecular Forms and determine the level of validity and practicality of the resulting LKPD. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research using a 4-D model which consists of four steps: define, design, develop, disseminate. This research is limited to the design stage. The research instrument is a validity sheet and a practical sheet. The LKPD was validated by 6 validators consisting of 3 chemistry lecturers from FMIPA UNP and 3 chemistry teachers at SMA N 14 Padang. The LKPD was tested by 3 chemistry teachers and 30 students in class XI MIPA 5 SMA N 14 Padang. The validity data used the Aiken's v Scale and the practical data used a comparison of the students' scores with the maximum scores of students. The average Aiken's v scale is 0.89 with a very valid category. While the practicality of teachers and students obtained NP values of 0.90 and 0.87 with very practical categories.

Abstract

This study describes the improvement of the Team Assisted Individualization learning model in the fourth grade of SD Negeri 028 Kubang Jaya in improving students' mathematical critical thinking skills. Data collection was carried out through observation, testing, and documentation, with qualitative data analysis using percentages. Based on the research results and data analysis, it was shown that before the action, 11 (73%) students were in the less critical category, and 3 (20%) students were in the critical category. 6.6% of students are in the quite critical category. Team-assisted, individualized learning applies remedial actions. After taking corrective action with the team-assisted individualization learning model. Then corrective action is taken with the team-assisted individualization learning model. In cycle I, students' critical thinking skills increased; 6 students, or 40%, were in the critical category, and 9 students, or 60%, were in the moderately critical category. Furthermore, in cycle II, the ability to think critically has increased: 8 students, or 53%, are in the very critical category, 4 students, or 26%, are in the moderately critical category, and 3 students, or 20%, are in the critical category. In cycle II, students' critical thinking skills have achieved the target success of the action set. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the team-assisted individualization learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills in fourth-grade mathematics at Public Elementary School 028 Kubang Jaya.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the availability of the chemical ladder snake game as a medium for learning acid-base material developed by Amalia Putri Lubis & Iswendi. It is valid but not tested for practicality and effectiveness. This study aims to determine the suitability and effectiveness of the chemical snakes and ladders game. This type of research is a continuation of development research with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design and is a 4-D model development. The research population is class XI MIPA students of SMAN 1 Ranah Batahan. Samples take using by Simple Random Sampling technique. The research instruments were useful questionnaires and learning achievement tests. The data analysis technique is the practicality percentage technique and the N-Gain test and t-test. The results of the data analysis of practicality are, at a convenient level, for effectiveness the results of data analysis show pretty effective. This is evidenced by the N-Gain percentage of the experimental class of 66% at a somewhat adequate level and the control class of 47% at a less practical level, and supported by hypothesis testing with the t-test, namely tcount (2.6686)> table (2.0106) at the real level α = 0.05 with dk = 48 and chance t0.95.

Abstract

The 21st century is known as the century of knowledge that experiences rapid changes, to deal with it a skill is needed. One of the 21st century skills is learning and innovation skills or known as 4Cs, namely Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving, Creativity and Innovation. Students' 4Cs skills are highly demanded during the learning process, so it is important to assess students' 4Cs skills. Global warming is one of the chemistry subject matter in the penggerak school curriculum. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The study aims to describe the 4C skills of students in class XE7 SMA Negeri 2 padang with a total of 30 students. This study used an observation sheet. The results showed that overall the communication skills of students in class XE7 SMA Negeri 2 Padang were on average classified in the incompetent category (55% of students), students' collaboration skills were classified in the competent category (42% of students), students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills were classified in the incompetent category (40% of students), and creativity and innovation skills were classified in the incompetent category (88% of students).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of mathematical literacy possessed by students related to the completion of HOTS-type questions found in FPB and KPK content. Written exams, interviews, and documentation are the three data collection methods used in this study. The participants in this study were three children at Grade 4 Elementary School 001 Air Tiris. The level of the students' mathematical abilities ranged from high, medium, and low. The ability to solve problems and frame problems, the ability to apply mathematics, and the ability to communicate are the three components of mathematical literacy skills used in this study. The results of the study show that the use of HOTS-type math problems for learning mathematics improves problem solving, application of mathematics, and communication. According to the introduction to the section, There are still wrong answers, so each student's mathematical literacy is unique. Students have demonstrated the ability to understand and construct problems, particularly in the areas of problem solving and problem formulation. Students' conceptual and procedural problem-solving abilities in mathematics are limited, and this limits their ability to adequately apply mathematics to real-world situations. In terms of communicating, not all students are able to write responses in a logical way. In addition, they do not write down clear problem-solving strategies and do not include conclusions.

Abstract

This study created a test instrument that can test students' understanding of the macroscopic, sub-microscopic and symbolic levels in acid-base titration material that has been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty index and differential power of the questions . This development research uses the Rasch model. The subjects of this study were four lecturers, two high school chemistry teachers and 35 students of SMA N 2 Padang. The object is the quality of the test instrument that meets the criteria of validity, reliability, difficulty index and discriminatory power . Data analysis used the MiniFac and Ministep programs. This study has 10 stages, namely: (1) Defining the construct, (2) Identifying the construct, (3) Designing the items, (4) Testing the product, (5) Analyzing the data, (6) Reviewing the results of the analysis, (7) Reviewing the map wright, (8) Repeat steps 4-7, (9) Claim product quality, (10) Develop documentation. The results showed that the suitability of validation by experts using the MiniFac program was the exact agreement and expected agreement values were very close, namely 95.8% and 95.4%, this indicated that the results of this analysis fit the model and its estimation. Likewise testing of students using the Ministep program. Each item can be said to be valid because it meets the criteria of the MNSQ, ZSTD and PtMean Corr. The instrument is also claimed to be reliable because it has a value of 0.92 . The difficulty index and discriminating power of the items also varied from the easiest to the most difficult .

Abstract

Students' conceptual understanding on acid-base topic has not been assessed comprehensively in multiple representation. The test instrument is needed to determine levels of students' understanding on acid-base topic comprehensively. This research developed an instrument to asses students' understanding on acid-base concept based on macroscopic, sub-microscopic and symbolic levels that is claimed valid, reliable, had good difficulty index and discriminatory item. This research is Research and Development (R&D) using Rasch model. The research procedure adopted ten stages by Wei, et al in 2012. The research instrument is questionnaire sheet given to subjects from chemistry lecturers and chemistry teacher. The data were analyzed using Rasch model assisted by minifacet and ministep software. The exact agreement value is 89,2% which have small range from the expect agreement with a percentage of 89,5%. It’s mean that, there is a fit between the results of expert's agreement and the results of estimated model. The pilot test results showed that all items have reached valid criteria based on the MNSQ, ZSTD, and Pt-Mean Corr. The reliability value is 0,80 in the good category. Difficulty index has variations of easy, medium, and difficult items. The discriminatory item is able to distinguish three levels of student ability.

Abstract

Speech recognition technology has been widely used to aid English language testing, such as for pronunciation and speaking practice for various use cases including job interview simulation. We developed an app, powered by speech recognition technology and regex text processing, that automatically score participants’ speaking performance. However, this application lacks dataset management for the speaking test maker to manage the indicators of accepted answers. A feature to effectively manage the dataset and efficiently ease the speaking test creation is needed. This paper presents the development of dataset management feature to support the speech recognition based automatic English-speaking skill testing system. All elements that support the feature in development were tested through Blackbox testing with various scenarios. The elements were proven to work as intended to support the existing system. The new feature has brought efficiency for the English-speaking test maker.
