Abstract

The concept is an understanding of an individual or a group of people who is expressed in the form of a meaning that produces knowledge in the form of theories, principles and laws. Conception is a person's ability to understand concepts, both those obtained through interaction with the environment and concepts obtained from formal education. The conceptions of students that are different from what the experts agree on are called misconceptions or misunderstandings. Misconceptions of students that appear continuously will interfere with the formation of scientific conceptions and result in learning problems that can affect student learning outcomes. Therefore it is necessary to analyze the misconceptions of students. One of the diagnostic tests that can be used to analyze misconceptions is a two-tier multiple choice test or also known as a two-tier multiple choice, where the first level is the question being tested while the second level contains the reasons for the answer to the first level. This study aims to analyze misconceptions and determine the percentage of students' misconceptions on hydrocarbon material using descriptive methods. The subjects in this study were 27 students of class XI IPA 2 in SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. The research instrument was a Two Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic test by dividing students' conceptual understanding into the categories of conceptual understanding, misconception, and conceptual misunderstanding. The results showed that the percentage of students' conceptual understanding in the concept understanding category was 32%, misconception was 34%, and did not understand the concept by 35% on hydrocarbon material. Abstract

The increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia has prompted the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) to recommend online learning as an effort to reduce the spread of the virus. The use of new online learning technology is dominated by SMA / MA in big cities because of the financial capacity and availability of a digital learning system that is better than SMA / MA in remote areas. The problem currently faced is the unavailability of teaching materials oriented to the online learning process (e-learning) in accordance with the demands of the 2013 Curriculum and the ability of most educators to prepare teaching materials for independent online learning still needs to be improved. Therefore, community service training in the development / manufacture of teaching materials that is oriented to the guided inquiry learning model and applies three types of representation to express chemical ideas, so that the chemistry learning process produces three learning levels, namely symbolic representation, macroscopic and sub-microscopic, or molecular. Have been trained to use Camtasia aplication.

Abstract

Chemistry Teacher association of Pesisir Selatan district needs a workhop regarding to develop HOTS intrument since they still questioning the correct way to do HOTS evaluation. Therefore, community service team of Chemistry Department conducted a workshop to improve pedagogy competency particularly in HOTS evaluation. This workhop was implemented via zoom meeting by giving explanation about evaluation and revised Bloom Taxonomy for knowledge domain. It continued workshop to develop HOTS evaluation that started by interpreting Basic Competences (BC) to competence achivement indicator (CAI), the CAI to HOTS question indicators and develop the HOTS question through on job learning. The team assessed the result and discussed it with the teachers. They revised the mistakes and the team compile it to be the HOTS question bank. As an evaluation, the teachers fill the questionnaires about the online workshop

Abstract

Chemistry Teacher Association of the 5th region in West Sumatera is a discussion media for chemistry teacher in Sijunjung, Sawahlunto, and Darmasraya District. There are 33 Senior High School in these area with 42 members. They have difficulty in implementing Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning model due to lack of understanding. Some expected competences in the 2013 curriculum require teaching learning process to be conducted by PBL dan PjBL particularly the competences with operational verb “designing and creating”. Moreover, they do not have any teaching material based on PBL and PjBL since these kinds of learning models have to provide contextual problems related to chemisty topics. Students will propose solutions and products, via discussion and project. The training successed in guiding teachers to compile 8 PBL and 6 PjBL learning materials.

Abstract

Education in accordance with future needs will only be realized if there is a shift or change in mindset in the learning process, including: 1) From teacher-centered to student-centered, 2) From passively to active-investigating; 3) From virtual / abstract to real world contexts; 4) From personal learning to team-based learning; 5) From the one-way relationship shifts towards cooperatives; 6) From a single conscious effort to plural; 7) From factual thinking to critical; and 8) From the delivery of knowledge to the exchange of knowledge. In the Center Curriculum report (2007), findings were found in the four groups of problems faced by teachers when they will realize the implementation of content standards, namely: 1) Translation of basic competencies into indicators. 2) The description of the basic material in KD becomes a description of the main material in the Indicator, covering the breadth and depth of the material because what is given in the curriculum is minimal material means the lower limit, but the limit is not determined so that the teacher experiences difficulties in preparing syllabus and lesson plans; 3) Difficulties in implementing approaches, methods, or certain learning models in learning, due to limited capacity so that the demands of the Standard Process are difficult for teachers to fulfill; 4) Difficulties in obtaining textbooks (teaching materials) that are oriented to certain processes (models) such as inquiry, especially those written in Indonesian and in accordance with the National Curriculum, which greatly influences the achievement of content Standards and Process Standards. The development of chemical teaching materials for High School (SMA) based Classes Activities with guided inquiry models is one of the choices offered to overcome the problems faced by teachers in realizing the implementation of content standards and process standards.

Abstract

The occurrence of the Covid-19 Pandemic disaster that hit the world in various walks of life, especially in the world of education, one of which was at the SMA/MA level where the learning system was shifted to an online (online) or distance learning system. Basically online learning (digitizing learning) is a necessity because it is part of the characteristics of the industrial revolution 4.0 era, which must be responded to and adopted by teachers. FGIL (Flipped Guided Inquiry Learning) is an appropriate learning model used in the learning process during a pandemic, with the help of LMS. The service was carried out for 13 high school/MA chemistry teachers in Agam district. The implementation process begins with an initial analysis, then continues with implementation activities. Based on the activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the teacher has been able to design learning with the FGIL model assisted by the Edmodo LMS.

Abstract

The examination result of X grade students in SMA Adabiah Padang shows that most of the students comprehend less than 60% of the learning material about atom. It will impact to the learning in the higher grade, therefore, a study held to know the conceptual development of students. It was qualitative descriptive which explorative and cross sectional approach. The instrument is open ended questions which gave to 204 students to know their conception about atom. Their conceptions tend developed in the electron configuration of atom, electron configuration of ion, determination of period and group of atom. In Addition, majority of students had the correct concept about the basic particles of atom. Meanwhile, the concept about atom and atomic model did not change significantly. Most of them did not understand in the concept of wave mechanic atomic model.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa pada materi redoks dan elektrokimia pada siswa menengah atas. Materi ini terdiri dari beberapa sub topik yaitu reaksi redoks, sel volta, korosi, dan sel elektrolisis. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan semi sistematis menggunakan data sekunder. Data sekunder yang diperoleh dari beberapa database kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik analisa Miles dan Huberman. Prosedur penelitian dimulai dari merancang ulasan dengan memilah literature yang terkait, melakukan tinjauan dengan membaca literature dari berbagai sumber, menganalisis data untuk memperoleh informasi yang diperlukan, dan menulis ulasan yang sesuai dengan topik yang berkaitan dengan penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil studi kepustakaan diperoleh bahwa miskonsepsi yang terjadi pada materi redoks dan elektrokimia diantaranya saat menentukan aliran arus listrik pada sel galvani, potensial sel, elektrode pada sel galvani dan elektrolisis,  produk/ hasil dari elektrolisis, faktor faktor yang menyebabkan terjadinya peristiwa korosi, cara mencegah terjadinya korosi dan menyetarakan suatu persamaan reaksi

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi peserta didik pada materi ikatan kimia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan yang digunakan adalah semi-sistematis. Data sekunder yang digunakan yaitu berasal dari literature berupa buku dan jurnal. Metode dokumentasi yang digunakan adalah mengumpulkan data dan teknik analisis data menggunakan metode Miles dan Huberman. Adapaun tahapan prosedur percobaan yang digunakan sebagai berkut: 1) merancang ulasan, 2) melakukan tinjauan, 3) analisis, 4) menulis ulasan. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa ditemukannya miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh peserta didik pada konsep ikatan kimia. Miskonsepsi yang teridentifikasi terdapat pada subkonsep ikatan kimia yaitu struktur Lewis, kestabilan unsur dan aturan oktet, pengecualian dan kegagalan aturan oktet, ikatan ion, ikatan kovalen, ikatan logam, bentuk molekul, polaritas molekul dan gaya antarmolekul. Pada subkonsep tersebut peserta didik mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami materi tersebut karena bersifat abstrak.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi berbagai miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh siswa pada materi senyawa hidrokarbon. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian kepustakaan, jenis penelitian kepustakaan yang digunakan adalah semi-sistematis dan  teknik analisis data menggunakan metode Miles dan Huberman. Kegiatan analisis data pada metode Miles dan Huberman terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan. Senyawa hidrokarbon adalah salah satu materi kimia yang memerlukan pemahaman konsep yang mendalam karena tergolong zat yang sulit dipahami oleh siswa. Dalam pembelajaran kimia, salah satu indikator penting yang harus dimiliki siswa adalah kemampuan memahami konsep. Hasil tinjauan literatur ditemukan masih banyaknya siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi dalam berbagai konsep pada materi senyawa hidrokarbon yang dikelompokkan menjadi konsep senyawa hidrokarbon, jenis kekhasan atom karbon, jenis atom karbon, struktur tata nama, isomer, sifat fisika, dan reaksi-reaksi senyawa hidrokarbon
