Abstract

Low learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) remain a challenge in the learning process at SD Negeri 2 Kerticala. This study aims to examine the effect of Assemblr Edu on fifth-grade students' science learning outcomes. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design was used. The population consisted of 265 students, and the sample involved 25 fifth-grade students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and observations. Test score data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, hypothesis, and N-Gain tests. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. A paired t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (t = 14.328 > 2.064). The average score increased from 54.60 to 87.20, with an increase of 32.60 points. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of 0.7106 (71%) was categorized as high. Student responses were also very positive, with an average questionnaire score of 79.6. These findings indicate that Assemblr Edu effectively improves students' science learning outcomes. The novelty of this study lies in the application of Assemblr Edu media to the topic of environmental change combined with concrete images among fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the low problem solving skills of elementary students in learning food chain material, which necessitate the use of innovative learning media and models. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of Pop Up Book media and the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to enhance elementary students’ problem solving skills in food chain learning, while previous studies have generally examined these approaches separately. This study aimed to determine the effect of PBL based Pop Up Book media on the problem solving skills of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 2 Sumber. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design involving 46 students. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, an Independent Samples t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the intervention. The experimental class achieved a higher posttest mean score (82.43) than the control class (55.74), with N-Gain scores of 63.75% and 12.10%, respectively. These findings indicate that the intervention had a substantial positive effect on students’ problem-solving skills and can serve as an effective instructional strategy for elementary science learning. Therefore, PBL based Pop Up Book media is effective in improving students’ problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the formation of disciplinary character in early childhood within single-parent families in Cilincing district, North Jakarta. The urgency of this research is driven by the increasing number of single-parent households and the importance of character development during early childhood as a critical stage of growth. A qualitative case study method was employed, with data collected through non-participatory observation and semi-structured interviews involving two single-parent families (one mother and one father) with children aged 3 and 5 years. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, coding, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that disciplinary character development in early childhood remains at the stage of external compliance. Both single parents generally apply communicative and democratic parenting strategies, using methods such as logical consequences, rewards, and direct modeling. However, the process is constrained by several factors. Internal constraints include limited time and emotional exhaustion due to the demands of single parenting roles. External constraints are mainly related to inconsistent rule enforcement by substitute caregivers and peer influence. The study highlights the importance of establishing consistent and unified parenting agreements with extended family members to support effective character development.

Abstract

History education helps students understand past events and develop historical awareness. However, history is often considered less interesting when taught only through textbooks. Therefore, films can be used as alternative learning media to present historical events in a more engaging and meaningful way. One example is Kartini (2017), which portrays the struggle of R.A. Kartini for women’s education and emancipation in Indonesia. This study aims to identify students’ understanding of historical events through the film Kartini (2017) and examine the use of film as a learning medium in history education. The study focuses on analyzing students’ responses to case-study questions and assessing their understanding based on Bloom’s cognitive indicators of comprehension: expressing, interpreting, and classifying information. A mixed-methods approach with a convergent design was employed involving twelfth-grade students at SMAN 5 Palu. Data were collected through case-study questions and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The average score for expressing information was 78.18%, while interpreting and classifying information reached 90.63% and 90.00%, respectively. These results suggest that the film Kartini (2017) effectively supports students’ understanding of historical events and can serve as a valuable learning medium in history education.

Abstract

Low student achievement in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in the fourth grade at SD Negeri 1 Watubelah. This situation is caused by the teaching methods that have been used so far, namely discussion and the presentation of images. These methods do not provide concrete learning experiences and do not encourage students to participate actively. Consequently, the majority of students have low learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the experimental method on the IPAS learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Watubelah. The research uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a pre-experimental design of the one-group pretest-posttest design type. The study population comprises all students at SD Negeri 1 Watubelah, with a sample of 25 fourth grade students. Data collection was conducted through achievement tests, observations, and documentation. The results of the hypothesis test showed that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted because it produced a significance value of 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05. Thus, there is an effect of the experimental method on student learning outcomes in IPAS lessons in the fourth grade at SD Negeri 1 Watubelah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze publication trends, media characteristics, the distribution of science topics, and the impacts of digital ethnoscience media on students' scientific skills in Indonesia. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology on 30 articles published between 2017 and 2026, the study reveals that publication volume surged starting in 2024, peaking in 2025 with 16 articles. The research focus significantly shifted from theoretical cultural exploration in 2023 to the development of ready-to-use digital media in 2024–2025, dominated by interactive mobile/web applications (40%) and digital content (30%). However, the distribution of science topics remains uneven, predominantly clustering around environmental science and general science, leaving abstract concepts related to living organism physiology largely unaddressed. Furthermore, the developed digital tools prove highly effective in training students' practical skills, such as Science Process Skills (0.76) and Problem-Solving (0.77) through the aid of VR or interactive games, whereas students' scientific reasoning skills remain at the lower bound of the moderate category (0.40). Future research is recommended to develop interactive simulation media, such as virtual laboratories for abstract topics, and to implement more rigorous experimental methods in classroom settings.
