Abstract

The problem behind this research is the low level of students' mathematical understanding abilities. One alternative learning that can be applied to improve students' mathematical understanding abilities is the SFE learning model. The aim to be achieved in this study was to determine the effect of using the SFE learning model on improving students' mathematical understanding abilities. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method, with research design Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The research was conducted at TULUS KARTIKA Middle School Bandung. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP TULUS KARTIKA Bandung. The sample in this study were students of class VIII-A as the experimental class and class VIII-B as the control class. The instruments used are in the form of tests of mathematical understanding to determine students' mathematical understanding. Before testing hypotheses, an analysis of data normality and homogeneity is carried out first, both experimental and control classes. The data analyzed were the data from the test results of students' mathematical understanding abilities namely pretest, posttest and gain index. Based on the analysis of the results of the test of mathematical understanding ability, the conclusion is that the SFE learning model has a positive effect on improving students' mathematical understanding abilities, with medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the students’ mathematical critical thinking skills in online learning. This type of research is a case study with a qualitative approach and descriptive qualitative research design and data collection techniques in the form of testing and interviews. The subjects in this study were three students 7 grade students of Junior High School 1 Sukaraja, taking the subject in this study using purposive sampling. Based on the results of the study, that students who have the ability to think critically mathematically high category that is collecting and compiling information needed, find ways that can be used to solve problems, analyze data and draw conclusions and similarities needed. Students who have the ability to think critically mathematically categories are fulfilling one to two components of mathematical critical thinking that is finding ways that can be used to solve problems analyze data. Students who have low category mathematical critical thinking skills do not meet the four components of mathematical critical thinking ability.

Abstract

Mathematics has a very important role in the development of modern era so that it needs alternative learning that can be digested well and useful even relevant for learners, especially in terms of representing. One of the alternatives in learning model that can be applied is the learning model of Designed Student-Centered Instructional, the model has an advantage where one phase of learning process using inquiry approach Hands On-Activity that learners do touching on the props so that learners can see and hold objects directly and represent it. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of learning model of Student-Centered Instructional modeled to the ability of student representation and know the students' response to the learning of mathematics by using model of Designed Student-Centered Instructional. The method used in this research was quasi experimental method. The study was conducted in class VIII A as experimental class and VIII B as control class at SMPN 02 Megamendung. The instruments used were test representations, questionnaires and observation sheets. In this research, quantitative data is analyzed by finding mean, standard deviation, normality test, homogeneity test and difference of two mean of learners and qualitative data was analyzed by using likert's attitude scale. Based on quantitative and qualitative data analysis, the concepts of representational ability have a high effect on the learning model of Designed Student-Centered Instructional and have a positive response to learning model of Designed Student-Centered Instructional.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Adversity Intelligence (AQ) on academic achievement (GPA) among Mathematics Education students at Islamic University of Nusantara. Samples for research Mathematics Education students of each generation and selected at random and proportionate. The data collected for this study were analyzed using regression analysis and the results showed that AQ only accounted for 0.62% (r = .062) changes in the variance of academic achievement. AQ still has the potential to be learned from other perspectives such as the success factors of Mathematics as a whole.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of mathematical connections of students with the discovery of learning barriers (obstacles to learning) specifically obstacle epistemological learning on statistical materials. One way that can be done to overcome the barriers to learning is by making the design of teaching materials. The purpose of this study is to describe learning barriers that occur between them and connect it with the design of mathematical-based learning with discovery learning method on statistical materials. This research is qualitative. Technique of writing data is done through test and interview. Subjects in this study were 34 students of class XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 3 Kuningan. This research is didactic design or Didactical Design Research (DDR) which consists of three stages, namely: daily analysis, metapedadtive analysis, and retrospective analysis. This research is only up to the stage of expert validation. The results of this study indicate limited learning barriers. Material related to statistics. Validation of teaching materials is done by three experts, namely two lecturers of Unpad FM Mathematics and a mathematics teacher of SMA Negeri 3 Kuningan. Based on the validation results, the amount of 90.67% is obtained. Therefore, the teaching materials can be stopped very valid and can be used in the learning process.

Abstract

Alternative learning that is applied to improve mathematical representation skills is round club cooperative learning method. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the type round club cooperative learning method can improve senior high school mathematical representation ability, compered student who got discovery learning method knowing students self direct learning ability. To student who round club cooperative learning method. The method is quasi exsperiment method will pretest-postets control design group. The population of this risearch wer, class x SMA PGRI Rancaekek student’s will the exsperiment class is X IPA 1 and control class is X IPA 2. The class exsperiment is given type a round club cooperative learning method and control class is given type discovery learning ability. The instrument that was mathematical representation ability test, questionnaire, and observation sheets for students and educators. The research of the study, conclusion is that the round club cooperative learning method, the experimental and control class the self direct learning ability of students in the good category and the response of students to the type of round club cooperative learning method positive interpretation value

Abstract

The problem underlying this research is the students mathematical disposition and critical thinking ability in the learning processare low. One of the alternative learnings that can be applied to improve the students mathematical disposition and criticalthinking ability is PQ4R Strategy. This study aims to determine whether a mathematical disposition and the students criticalthinking ability increased after learning by using PQ4R Strategy, as well as to determine the students' response to learning byusing PQ4R strategy. The method used in this research is the Classroom Action Research (CAR), with the cycle of planning,action, observation, and reflection. As for the instruments which are used in collecting the data consisted of observation sheets,formative tests, questionnaires, and field notes. In this research, we can obtain a qualitative and quantitative data. Based onthe analysis of the results of formative test, the students critical thinking ability after learning by using PQ4R strategy increased,as well as based on the analysis of the questionnaire, the mathematical disposition after learning by using PQ4R strategyincreased and the students respond positively to the learning of mathematics using PQ4R strategy

Abstract

This research is an alternative to overcome the low critical thinking skills, namely the development of evaluation tools to measure student’s critical thinking skills. This research and development begins with determining the research objectives, namely developing a critical thinking ability test and knowing the validity, reliability, discriminating power, and level of difficulty of the test. Critical thinking ability evaluation instrument on comparative material for class VII Junior High School include in Research and Development (RD). The RD model used is the Thiagarajan 3D model, which includes 3 stages namely: define, design, and develop. The instrument in this study were critical thinking skills test and validation sheets. The subject of this research is class VII 31 Junior High School Bandung, totaling 15 people. The assesment instrument developed is in the form of descriptive questions.  The data from the validation of the instrument’s feasibility by the expert is declared valid. The results of the analysis of the validity of the items based on the results of the analysis of the validity of items using the Product Moment correlation technique can be seen that the level of validity of the evaluation instrumen is declared high, while the reability value of 0,72 with a high interpretation. Analysis of the difficulty level of the instrumen obtained an average scor of 0,22-0,54 in medium-difficult category. The discriminatory power of the instrumen shows a sufficient category with an average value of 0,31-0,78.

Abstract

The background of this research was the low of students’ interest and mathematical communication ability. One of learning alternatif that can be applied to increase students’ interest and mathematical communication ability was the Active Knowledge Sharing learning strategy. The aims of this study to increase students’ interest and mathematical communication ability through Active Knowledge Sharing learning strategies, and students' responses to mathematics learning by using Active Knowledge Sharing learning strategies. The approach used in this research were qualitative and quantitative approach. While the method used in this research was Class Action Research method which refers to the steps of Kemmis and Mc Taggart model. A cycle consists of planning, implementation of action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research was all of the student in VII-B class MTs at Pangalengan District, Bandung Regency. The data collection instruments consist of formative tests, observation sheets, questionnaires, and journals. Data analysis technique used Triangulation. Based on the results of the analysis that has been done, showed students’ interest and mathematical communication ability has increase after using the Active Knowledge Sharing learning strategy, and students’ response to mathematics learning by using Active Knowledge Sharing learning strategy is positive.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the motivation to learn mathematics of students of class XI SMK Negeri 9 Pandeglang after implementation of Collaborative Online Learning model and to improve student learning result of class XI SMK Negeri 9 Pandeglang after implementation of Collaborative Online Learning model. This study is a classroom action research where the activity takes place in 3 cycles to measure motivation and learning outcomes. Technically after the learning is completed, students are given the task to then the task is sent via email, the activity is done every meeting up to the last cycle. Indicator achievement of learning outcomes exceeds KKM value that is 70 and motivation learn math more than 70% seen from desire and activity study in class. Based on the observation on every activity of learning process progress, result which reached by student is in cycle I viewed from motivation classified as low category that is 30% and average result of learning 64, in cycle II have improvement in motivation that is 70% and in the mean The learning outcome is 68, then on the third cycle student motivation is increasing with the keatifan and students who send the email is all the students and the average learning outcomes achieved is 71
