Abstract

This study analyzes the quality of a science test instrument on inheritance, based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and scientific literacy, in terms of validity, reliability, difficulty level, discrimination index, and distractor effectiveness. A descriptive quantitative approach with an ex post facto item analysis design was used. The participants were 28 students, and the instrument consisted of 20 multiple-choice items developed according to HOTS and scientific literacy indicators. Validity was tested using point-biserial correlation, reliability using Kuder-Richardson (KR-20), and item difficulty and discrimination indices were analyzed through correct response proportions and comparisons between upper and lower groups. Results showed that 85% of the items were valid and 15% invalid. The reliability coefficient was 0.8827, indicating high consistency. In terms of discrimination, 60% of items were very good, 25% good, 10% fair, and 5% poor. Most items were moderately difficult (90%), and 10% were difficult, with no easy items. Overall, the instrument demonstrates good quality and is suitable for learning evaluation, although some items require revision to further optimize measurement accuracy.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 09 Pontianak Barat. This study implemented a project-based differentiated learning (PjBL) approach, tailored to students' needs and characteristics. The background of this study stems from low pre-cycle learning outcomes, with a class average of 56.30 and only 29.63% of students achieving the Minimum Passing Score (KKM = 65). This study uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method, conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 27 fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed significant improvement: in Cycle I, the class average increased to 70.56 with a class mastery rate of 62.96%; in Cycle II, the class average reached 82.59 with a class mastery rate of 88.89%, exceeding the 80% success indicator. This study concludes that differentiated instruction through the PjBL model, implemented through differentiation of content, process, and product, is effective in improving students' IPAS learning outcomes. Abstract

Apparatus capable of recording time-dependent data in experiments is essential for physics learning. In this study, we developed an experimental apparatus for Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) on a spring to record time-dependent displacement. The development was carried out by integrating an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor into the basic design of the SHM experiment. The study shows that, from a visual observation perspective, instead of exhibiting simple harmonic motion represented by the waveform y=Acos(ωt), the oscillator displayed damped harmonic motion characterized by a gradually shifting phase, following the waveform equation y=Acos(ωt+ϕ(t)). Focusing on the technical validation of the apparatus, both visual representation and deviation analysis indicated that the developed experimental apparatus showed good agreement with the theoretical trend, with a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.9329. The apparatus demonstrated the capability to record meaningful qualitative trend data of simple harmonic motion to support analytical learning processes.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) To see the differences in learning outcomes in the cognitive domain before and after using the Discovery Learning learning model based on PhET Simulation in science learning on mass and volume material for class IV SDN 88 Singkawang. (2) To find out how much influence the use of the Discovery Learning learning model based on PhET simulation has on learning outcomes in the cognitive domain of science learning on mass and volume material for class IV at SDN 88 Singkawang. (3) To find out students' responses to the Discovery Learning learning model based on PhET simulation on mass and volume material for class IV at SDN 88 Singkawang. This type of research is quantitative with an experimental method with the design used being Quasi-experimental Design. The population in this study were all students in class IV of SDB 88 Singkawang, totaling 56 students. The sample collection technique in this study was saturated sampling. Data collection techniques using test sheets and student response questionnaires. The data analysis technique used was the independent sample t-test and the results of the study showed that (1) There is a difference in PhET simulation-based Discovery Learning learning on student learning outcomes in the cognitive domain of the control and experimental classes. This is shown by the results of t count 2.505 and t table 2.052. (2) There is an effect of using the PhET simulation-based Discovery Learning model on student learning outcomes in the cognitive domain: This is evidenced by the results of the Effect Size test showing that the value is 0.4, which means it is included in the moderate criteria (3) The student response ' understanding of the PhET simulation-based Discovery Learning on mass and volume material in grade IV at SDN 88 Singkawang questionnaire showed a very good response, evidenced by the results of the percentage calculation getting a result of 81%.   Keywords: Discovery Learning, PhET simulation, learning outcomes, IPAS, response.

Abstract

Abstract Self-regulation is the ability to manage oneself. Self-regulation is an important factor that can influence learning outcomes. In remote areas, students often face challenges such as limited infrastructure and access to technology. This study aims to determine the self-regulation of high school students in remote areas using an adapted instrument. The method used is quantitative. A total of 59 high school students, comprising 37 11th-grade and 22 12th-grade students from Permata Kasih High School, served as respondents. The instrument used was an adapted version of the Taiwanese Short Self-Regulation Questionnaire (Chen & Lin, 2018). Data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient and descriptive statistics. The results show that students' self-regulation levels are generally in the medium and low categories. Self-regulation among female students is higher than among male students. Students' self-regulation abilities can be influenced by various factors, including the availability of educational facilities and infrastructure, as well as educational interventions, such as integrating self-regulated learning strategies into instruction.
