Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the use of used bottle media in science learning, the types of learning media used, the obstacles faced by teachers and efforts to overcome obstacles in the use of media in science learning at SDN 13 Pesing. This type of research is phenomenological research with a qualitative descriptive method approach. The subjects of this study were fifth grade students. Data collection in this study used observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques include three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion stages. The results of the study stated the form of difficulty in understanding science subjects is that students have difficulty understanding when doing exercises, do not understand symbols; understand concepts and materials, factors causing difficulty in understanding the ability to classify respiratory system material are internal factors such as learning concentration does not last long, some students' memory abilities are low, students have difficulty understanding the meaning of the questions. External factors such as teachers providing understanding too quickly, not using media and students who often talk when the teacher explains efforts to overcome difficulties in understanding abilities are holding tutoring, holding remedial for those with low scores, changing the methods used, providing motivation and advice, using media that is appropriate to the material.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' science process skills through the application of an experiment-based Discovery learning model to sound materials in class VIII B SMPN 6 Nanga Pinoh. The research method used is quantitative, with a pre-experimental design of one group, pre-test and post-test design. The main instrument is in the form of pre-test and post-test questions, which include six indicators of science process skills: observing, proposing hypotheses, conducting experiments, interpreting, applying concepts, and communicating. Supporting instruments are in the form of student response questionnaires and observation sheets. The research data shows that the average pre-test score of 36,00 students increased to 69.19 in the post-test. The N-Gain value of 0.508 is in the medium category, indicating an improvement in students' science process skills after the implementation of the experiment-based Discovery learning model. The observation data showed the active involvement of students during the process and the questionnaire data also showed that the students responded positively to the learning process. The results showed that the application of experiment-based Discovery learning can improve students' science process skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of a scientific approach on students' conceptual understanding of the material on pressure in liquids. The research method used is quantitative with a Nonequivalent (Pretest-Posttest) Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of students of class VII A (16 students) as the experimental class and VII B (18 students) as the control class at SMP Negeri 5 Sungai Tebelian. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test consisting of 25 questions given at the pretest stage before the scientific approach model was applied and the posttest after learning with a scientific approach was carried out which included four indicators of conceptual understanding: Drawing inferences, Classifying, Interpreting, and giving examples. Data analysis used normality, homogeneity, and t-test tests. The research data showed a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. The average posttest score of the experimental class (71.25) was higher than the control class (51.56). The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed a t value = -4.447 with sig. (2-tailed) = 0.0000984 < 0.05, which means H₀ is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, the scientific approach has been proven to have a positive effect on improving students' conceptual understanding of pressure in liquids.

Abstract

The nutrient content in porang plants, as with other tuber plants, also contains carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins and fiber. This study aims to obtain data on the average iron mineral content in Porang Plants. Determination of iron content using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) method is based on the atomization of iron compounds in a low pH 2-5. Iron compounds will be atomized with a flame on AAS producing emission rays that produce a wavelength of 248.3 nm for Fe which is captured by the detector which is then digitally converted to produce iron content by comparing it with the appropriate iron standard series in the sample content range, 0.00; 0.20; 0.80; 1.2; and 1.6 mg/L Fe. The analysis results showed that the dry porang tubers contain 32.54 mg/kg of iron, or 0.03254 g of dry flour per 1 kg (32.54 ppm), equivalent to 0.00488 g of iron from dry porang tubers per 1 kg (4.88 ppm), equivalent to 0.00097 g from wet porang tubers per 1 kg (0.97 ppm).

Abstract

Ice breaking is one of the learning techniques that is fun, creative, innovative, interesting in applying to the learning process. Based on the results of the researchers found problems, namely the lack of learning motivation, especially extrinsic motivation and students experiencing problems in learning concentration in science learning. Therefore, the purpose of the research is to find out how much influence the ice breaking learning technique has on the extrinsic motivation of students learning in science subjects in class III SD Negeri 06 Merau. The study used a quantitative approach of pre-experimental type one group pre-test post-test design. The sample amounted to 20 third grade students of SDN 06 Merau. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used normality test and t-test. The results showed extrinsic motivation of students in learning science with a pre-test of 39% and a post-test of 60%. The results of hypothesis testing obtained t count 1.837 and t table 1.761. It can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, ice breaking learning techniques have a significant effect on extrinsic motivation to learn science for third grade students of SDN 06 Merau.

Abstract

The problem with learning today is that it is often irrelevant to students’ needs and characteristics. This study aims to identify students’ responses to an ethnophysics e-module on measurement material. The researcher analyzed students’ responses before and after the introduction of the e-module. The research method used was quantitative descriptive. Data were analyzed using descriptive techniques, focusing on the categories of availability of teaching materials, student participation and understanding, integration of the ethnophysics context (Maluku region), responsiveness to student needs, material comprehensibility, and student motivation and engagement. The sample in this study consisted of 10 university students from the Physics Education study program studying measurement concepts in the Basic Physics course. The results of the study showed a positive response to the developed e-module. Students stated that the e-module was responsive to the needs, easy to understand, and encouraged motivation and engagement in learning. Several students’ suggestions and opinions were used as a reference point for improving the developed module. Based on the research results, the development of teaching materials should consider the characteristics, needs, and relevance of the material to students’ environment and experiences.
