Abstract

STEAM-based learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) has begun to be developed a lot recently. This learning is considered able to answer the challenges of the times to be able to develop learning in the 21st century. STEAM is not only developed for secondary to tertiary education but is also developed for learning in early childhood. The challenges for developing STEAM-based learning are not small. The teacher considers that to provide learning about technology, for example, one must use sophisticated computer-based learning media, so it requires expensive costs. Also, science and engineering learning has not been developed much in kindergarten (TK) learning because it is considered a difficult concept to understand and requires high costs for the learning media. Learning media for early childhood is diverse and does not have to all buy new materials at a high cost. Likewise with learning media that can be used to develop STEAM-based learning. Teachers can make use of items or materials that are easily available, such as rocks, tree branches, seeds, used bottle caps, dry leaves, clothespins, etc. These removable materials are called loose parts. Loose parts are loose objects that can be moved, manipulated, and how to use them is determined by the child. These removable materials as learning media can make children think creatively and imaginatively. Loose parts can also be used as media in STEAM learning.

Abstract

Parents, schools and government should pay great attention to early childhood education and knowledge. Early childhood is nurtured and stimulated according to the wishes and abilities of each child with the hope that they can grow accordingly and develop as they should. Play is every child's right. Playing is a land for children to express all forms of behavior that are fun and without coercion. Play has a role to support children's growth and development, especially in the development of cognitive aspects. This study identifies the role of play activities on knowledge of children aged 1-2 years. Quantitative research and using a simple paradigm of the relationship of two variables. The data analysis technique used in this study was the parametric correlation analysis perarson product moment. The results of the study The value of sig (0.003) <a  then H0 is rejected. So that there is a correlation between the role of play activities and the cognitive development of children 1-2 years. The correlation coefficient value shows the effect of the role of playing activities on cognitive development of children 1-2 years of 0.598 or 59.8%. So that the correlation is 40.2%, maybe there is a relationship with other elements.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the micro role playing method on empathy for children 5-6 years. This research is a quantitative research with Quasi Experimental Design in the form of Nonequivalent Control Group. The study was conducted from April to December 2018. Sampling using saturated samples. The research sample of 36 children was taken from the Dharma Wanita 1 Banaran Kindergarten and Banaran Kindergarten, Kalijambe, Sragen. The technique of collecting data uses observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the instrument uses expert judgment which is then tested by the instrument. Data analysis consisted of prerequisite tests and hypothesis testing. The prerequisite test in data analysis consisted of a normality test and a homogeneity test, while a hypothesis test used an independent sample t-test. The prerequisite test results show normal and homogeneous data. The results of the hypothesis test show that the difference in the average value of the posttest value of the experimental group and the control group is 24.33 and 20.33 with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. While the difference in the value of the pretest and posttest in the experimental group was 18.39 to 24.33. The conclusion of the study shows that there is an influence of the use of the micro role playing method on empathy for children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

In the development of cognitive aspects one of the parts in it is mathematics. One concept in mathematics that is very close to children is the concept of measurement. However, learning in children is quite difficult for teachers to do. This is because the concept of measurement is one of the concepts in mathematics which is quite abstract if only taught without the existence of a learning medium as a tool in the learning process. Teaching the concept of measurement in kindergarten is still lacking in variety and tends to only use Child Worksheets (LKA) which directly or indirectly will seem very boring and seem monotonous. Therefore, it is necessary to have a new learning media in the process of learning the measurement concept that aims to make it easy for children to learn the measurement concept. This study aims to describe the use of the modified media scales in the learning of measurement concepts that are aimed at children aged 5-6 years. Indicators of measurement concepts related to the child's ability to understand the concept of measuring the weight of objects with the intended subject are early childhood with an age range of 5-6 years. This type of research is a literature review that is using literature studies in a scientific study relating to the variables in the study. Analysis techniques in research by analyzing some relevant research from related articles obtained, discovered, analyzed and concluded. The results of the data analysis concluded that the use of modified media scales in the learning process of measuring concepts can provide convenience for children in learning the measurement concepts.

Abstract

Planting character values needs to be given from an early age. One of the character values that needs to be instilled early is independence. The role and parent's support is needed to build an independent child character. Parenting is one of the factors that influence children's independence. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was a relationship between democratic parenting and disciplines of children aged 4-5 years in Gonilan Village. This study uses quantitative approaches with correlation research type. This research was conducted on January 2019 by using a sample of 69 children and parents of children aged 4-5 years in Gonilan Village. Retrieving data from this study uses questionnaires that distributed to the parents. The results of the hypothesis test of the Spearman Rho correlation indicate that the significance value is 0,000 <0.05 which means the hypothesis is accepted, there is a relationship between democratic parenting with the independence of children aged 4-5 years in Gonilan Village. The results of the correlation coefficient are 0.998 using the Spearman Rho hypothesis test, which means the higher the democratic parenting style of parents, the higher the child's independence.
