Abstract

The phenomenon of legal pluralism in Indonesia demonstrates the tension between customary justice rooted in local wisdom and the positive criminal law system dominated by retributive principles. This conflict often neglects the restorative dimension, where the resolution of criminal acts emphasizes the restoration of social relations rather than mere punishment. This research aims to uncover the philosophical foundations of customary-based restorative justice, while assessing its normative relevance in the context of national criminal justice. A normative juridical approach is applied through a philosophical examination of concepts such as social harmony in the Aristotelian tradition and the value of forgiveness in local culture, combined with an analysis of Indonesian legal norms. This study integrates customary ethical perspectives with modern principles of justice to evaluate how custom can become a more inclusive mechanism for criminal accountability. The research finds that customary restorative justice is philosophically grounded in culturally-based legal certainty and socially legitimate when aligned with constitutional principles, proportionality, and human rights. The 2023 New Criminal Code’s recognition of living law (Article 2) provides a formal basis for integrating customary mechanisms, which prioritize dialogue and reconciliation, thereby enhancing systemic effectiveness. This study contributes to legal reform by advocating for the formal inclusion of customary justice as a complementary approach that enriches Indonesia’s legal pluralism without compromising legality. The findings offer insights for developing more contextually just policies.

Abstract

This research examines the influence of slang on social identity formation among teenagers in the digital era. With the rise of digital communication platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp, slang has become an essential tool for teenagers to express themselves and navigate social relationships. This qualitative study combines semi-structured interviews and content analysis of social media interactions to investigate how teenagers use slang to construct their online identities. The findings reveal that slang is a crucial marker of group membership, reinforcing social bonds and facilitating resistance to societal norms. Teenagers associate their use of slang with belonging to specific peer groups and online subcultures. The study also highlights the role of digital spaces in shaping the evolution of slang and identity. The implications of these findings suggest that educators and parents should recognize the role of slang in adolescent development and digital communication. Future research should explore the cross-cultural variations of slang and its long-term impact on identity formation among teenagers.

Abstract

Indonesia sends a large number of its seafarers to work on foreign fishing vessels, mainly because the pay is better than what they can earn at home, but unfortunately, many of them end up facing tough conditions, abuse, and little protection. This happens largely because the system meant to protect them is full of gaps, there are unclear recruitment rules, different government agencies stepping on each other’s toes, and no central database to keep track of who’s working on which vessel. A striking example is the case of Indonesian crew members on the Chinese vessel Long Xing 629, which caught global attention after one of the crew died and was buried at sea, raising serious concerns about how these workers are treated. This article looks at how the Indonesian government reacted, using a pro-people foreign policy approach to push for accountability and better protection of its citizens. While it’s clear that the government is starting to take these issues more seriously, there’s still a long way to go in fixing the system so Indonesian seafarers are truly safe and supported.

Abstract

Modernization and globalization often shift the values of local wisdom that has been built, which should be able to develop family members, especially the potential of children. Children are inseparable from their parents' parenting, but currently the role of parents has shifted to fulfilling needs without paying attention to children, due to the economy in difficult conditions. So, there are problems with parenting and the economy. This condition is increasingly complex in West Java Province, which statistically faces a number of significant social challenges, including high levels of female labor force participation, high divorce rates, and high unemployment rates, especially among women and young people. The need for education for parents in managing the family, parents who join the involvement in family community programs are more objective and able to manage in a more planned parenting style. In addition, the role of non-formal education such as tutoring institutions has the opportunity to collaborate with the family community more advanced in managing the growth and development of children's potential and can form a market from the community with creative economy partnerships. Tutoring today not only manages the learning needs of children, but can also develop with the involvement of parents to learn together with programs that adapt to change. The synergy between children and parents is expected to be managed properly from the programs that should be developed. Local Wisdom of Creative Economy Assisted by E-Crowdsourced can increase family involvement in family communities in West Java Province in Indonesia.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most prevalent noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) among populations both nationally and internationally. Therefore, surveillance officers play a crucial role in the prevention and control of hypertension. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of hypertension surveillance implementation at the Padang Bulan Community Health Center using surveillance attributes. These attributes are used to assess the hypertension surveillance system based on its components. This study employs a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with surveillance officers, document review, and observation. The results of this study indicate that hypertension surveillance at the Padang Bulan Community Health Center is carried out through the Non-Communicable Disease Monitoring Post (Posbindu PTM) and has been implemented quite well in terms of input, process, and output components. However, there are still challenges, such as errors in the application system or poor internet connection, insufficient time for staff to enter data, and low community interest in checking their health at both the Posbindu PTM and health facilities. The discussion of the research results indicates that surveillance staff need to approach the community to increase public trust in health workers, so that the community is more willing to visit health facilities or the PTM Posbindu to check their health conditions.

The purpose of this study is to find out empirically how the duties of religious extension workers in conveying religious moderation attitudes, what are the strategies and obstacles of the efforts made by religious extension workers at KUA Ciawigebang in conveying religious moderation. The method used in the research is a type of qualitative research, through interviews, observations, and documentation. The result of this study is that religious extension workers are the spearhead of the government in accompanying and guiding the community related to religious affairs. In addition to serving the community in terms of marriage and religious guidance, religious counselors also play an important role in providing education about various government programs, one of which is related to religious moderation. In KUA Ciawigebang District, counseling activities related to religious moderation are not carried out specifically, but are delivered implicitly through various kinds of routine activities, such as through taklim council activities, marriage guidance, sakinah family guidance, and people's economic programs. However, in its implementation, religious extension workers face obstacles, namely differences in people's perspectives in understanding religious teachings, including differences in interpretations of the concept of religious moderation itself.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (K3) education is essential in vocational high schools (SMK), particularly for welding engineering students, as it equips them with the knowledge to prevent workplace accidents. Welding practices expose students to physical and chemical hazards, which can lead to injuries such as electric shocks, respiratory issues, and skin burns. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is critical in mitigating these risks. This study aims to examine the relationship between students' interest in K3 subject matter and their discipline in using PPE during welding practice. A survey method was employed, with data collected from 22 Grade XI welding students at SMK Negeri 2 Bitung. Parametric statistical analysis, including correlation and linear regression, was used to analyze the data. Results indicate a high level of student interest in K3 material () and a disciplined approach to PPE usage (). A very strong positive correlation () was found between interest and discipline, with interest accounting for 71% () of the variance in disciplined PPE use, as modeled by the regression equation . The study concludes that fostering student interest in K3 education significantly enhances disciplined PPE adherence, thereby promoting safer welding practices
