Abstract

Economic development in the ASEAN region is shaped by complex dynamics arising from globalization, market volatility, and external influences. Guided by the endogenous growth theory, this study examines the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI), exchange rate fluctuations, inflation, and net exports on economic growth. Using panel data from five ASEAN countries Indonesia,Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Brunei Darussalam covering the period 2015 to 2024, panel data regression analysis was employed. The results reveal that exchange rate stability and moderate inflation have a positive and significant effect on economic growth, whereas FDI and net exports are not statistically significant. These findings underscore the importance of maintaining monetary stability and adaptive economic governance to foster inclusive and sustainable growth in the ASEAN region.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the effect of the Female Head of Household (FHH), Provincial Minimum Wages (PMW), Involvement of Women in Parliament (IWP), Female Life Expectancy (FLE), Women's Mean Years School (EDUC) on Female Labor Force Participation in 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2020 to 2024.Methodology: This study utilized secondary data generated from BPS - Statistics Indonesia. Panel regression is employed to estimate the data. There are three approaches in panel data regression which are Common Effect (CE), Random Effect (RE), and Fixed Effect (FE). This study employed Chow and Hausman tests to choose the most appropriate model. Results: The Chow and Hausman test revealed that Fixed Effect Model (FE) is the most appropriate. Women's Mean Years of School negatively and significantly affected their labour force participation rate. Provincial Minimum Wages and Women's Involvement in Parliament had a positive and significant effect on the Female Labor Force Participation Rate. Meanwhile, neither the Female Head of Household nor Female Life Expectancy significantly influenced the Female Labor Force Participation Rate.Applications/Originality/Value: These findings have important implications for the formulation of gender-responsive, evidence-based employment policies to promote women's sustainable economic inclusion.

Abstract

Purpose: The primary objective of this research is to analyze the socio-economic determinants of the open unemployment rate in West Java. The investigation focuses on how regional wage policies, the number of poor people, economic performance, and education levels across different region from 2020 to 2024. Methodology: The analysis based on secondary data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and the West Java Open Data Center, estimated using panel data regression. Stata 14 software was used. Model selection was performed using the Chow and Hausman tests, with the Fixed Effect Model identified as the most appropriate specification. Results: Empirical evidence reveals that the number of poor people is positively and significantly related to open unemployment, while economic growth and average length of schooling exhibit a significant negative relationship. Conversely, the minimum wage was not found to have statistically significant effect on open unemployment. Applications/Originality/Value: These findings highlight the importance of strengthening education levels and maintaining economic growth to reduce unemployment in West Java. Meanwhile, the increasing number of poor people actually worsens labor market condition.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the adoption, hospital integration, and revenue implications of telemedicine, with specific emphasis on Indonesia where hospital-based telemedicine services remain less developed than commercial platforms. The review focuses on identifying key drivers of user acceptance, organizational readiness, and financial outcomes to support strategic telemedicine development in hospitals.Methodology: A systematic review was conducted using a comprehensive search of open-access empirical studies published from 2020 to 2025. Twenty-six eligible articles were identified and analyzed. Data were synthesized thematically across three domains: factors influencing user adoption, hospital-level implementation processes, and the economic impact of telemedicine services. The review integrates both global and Indonesian evidence to provide a comparative perspective. Results: Findings show that perceived usefulness, trust, and digital readiness consistently shape patient and provider adoption of telemedicine. Successful hospital integration is supported by adequate infrastructure, clear governance, and alignment with clinical workflows. Several studies report cost-effectiveness and increased service utilization, indicating potential for enhanced hospital revenue, although economic evidence from Indonesian hospitals is still emerging.Applications/Originality/Value: This review offers practical insights for policymakers and hospital administrators planning long-term institutionalization of telemedicine. It is original in combining global and Indonesian contexts while emphasizing the financial sustainability of hospital-based telemedicine services.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of macroeconomic conditions on export performance in the ASEAN region for the period 2017-2024, taking into account the variables Gross Domestic Product (GDP), exchange rate, and inflation. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach with panel data analysis. Quantitative analysis is conducted using panel data regression techniques to examine the relationship between the dependent variable, namely export volume, and the independent variables, namely GDP, exchange rate, and inflation. The results show that GDP has a positive and significant effect on export volume, while the exchange rate has a negative but significant effect. Inflation, although included as an independent variable, does not show a significant influence on export volume. These findings indicate that GDP and the exchange rate are key factors affecting export performance in the ASEAN region, while inflation does not play an individual role within the examined period.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of exports, imports, and exchange rates on economic growth in four ASEAN countries Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines during the 2017-2024 period. The data used are secondary data obtained from official publications such as the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other scientific sources. The analytical method applied is panel data analysis using Eviews 10 software. The models employed include the Common Effect Model (CEM), Fixed Effect Model (FEM), and Random Effect Model (REM), with model selection tests conducted using the Chow Test, Hausman Test, and Lagrange Multiplier Test. The results show that the most appropriate model is the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). Based on the partial test (t-test), the import and exchange rate variables have a significant effect on economic growth, while the export variable shows no significant influence. The Adjusted R² value of 0.437 indicates that 43.7% of the variation in economic growth is explained by the three independent variables, while the remaining 56.3% is explained by other factors outside the model. These findings suggest that exchange rate stability and the management of import activities play an important role in promoting economic growth in the ASEAN region.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze how socioeconomic factors affect HIV prevalence in West Java Province from 2019 to 2023. The variables examined include poverty, unemployment, the Human Development Index (HDI), and health facilities. Using a quantitative approach with panel data regression on 27 districts/cities, the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) results show that HDI and health facilities significantly influence HIV prevalence, while poverty and unemployment have no significant effect. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.6930 indicates that 69.30% of HIV rate variations are explained by the model's variables, with the remainder influenced by other factors. These findings highlight that improving the Human Development Index and expanding health facilities play a crucial role in reducing HIV prevalence across West Java Province.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the impact of socioeconomic factors on stunting prevalence in Indonesia from 2021–2023. Using panel data regression with a Random Effect Model (REM) across 34 provinces, four independent variables were analyzed: poverty rate, unemployment rate, GRDP per capita, and number of health workers. Results show that poverty positively and significantly affects stunting, while GRDP per capita has a significant negative effect. Meanwhile, unemployment and health worker variables are insignificant. The R² value of 0.2877 indicates that 28.77% of stunting variation is explained by the model, with the rest influenced by external factors. The findings highlight that economic improvement and poverty reduction are key strategies to lower stunting prevalence in Indonesia.
