Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine students' knowledge of earthquake disasters, assess students preparedness in facing earthquake disasters, and analyze the relationship between knowledge and preparedness among students of SMA Negeri 1 Wedi.Methodology: The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Wedi with a population of 745 students. A sample of 260 students was selected using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The sampling technique used was Stratified Random Sampling, and data analysis was performed using the Product Moment correlation test. Results: The results indicate that most students fall into the moderate knowledge category, suggesting that their understanding of earthquake disaster still needs improvement. Students with low knowledge account for 13%, while only 10% demonstrate high knowledge, highlighting the need for more intensive disaster education. In terms of preparedness, students are also predominantly the moderate category, indicating basic but not optimal preparedness. Only 3% of students show high preparedness, while 10% remain at a low level. Correlation analysis show a significant relationship between knowledge and disaster preparedness, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05, confirming that higher knowledge levels are associated with better preperedness.Applications/Originality/Value: The findings emphasize the importance of strengthening disaster education to improve both students' knowledge and preparedness. Schools are encouraged to integrate earthquake disaster education into the curriculum and conduct regular training and simulations to optimize students' readiness in facing potential disasters.

Abstract

Purpose: Flood disasters are one of the most frequent hydrometeorological hazards in Indonesia, significantly affecting the education sector, particularly schools located in flood-prone areas.Methodology: This study aims to analyze flood risk levels in junior high schools across Surakarta City by integrating hazard and vulnerability assessments using Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. The hazard analysis employed parameters of slope, rainfall intensity, land use, and river proximity, which were weighted and overlaid to generate a flood hazard map. Vulnerability was assessed through physical (building structure, drainage, foundation, elevation, and materials) and social components (school community, teacher-staff gender ratio, and student gender ratio). Results: The results indicated that 40% of Surakarta's area fell under a high flood hazard zone, and most schools exhibit moderate levels of social and physical vulnerability. The flood risk matrix revealed that 43 schools (70%) fell into the high-risk category, 22 (28%) were moderate, and only 1 (2%) was low. The high-risk concentration corresponded with low-lying areas near the Bengawan Solo River Basin.Applications/Originality/Value: These findings emphasized the urgency of integrating Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into school-based programs such as Safe Schools from Disasters (SPAB) and improving physical infrastructure resilience. The outcomes of this study are expected to support local policy in flood mitigation planning for the education sector.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to describe the application of 21st-century skills (6C) critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, citizenship, and character as an effort to strengthen civic skills in Pancasila Education at MTs Negeri 2 Surakarta. Specifically, it analyzes how 6C-based learning practices reveal indicators of students' civic skills, including intellectual and participatory skills, teachers' pedagogical strategies in structuring learning activities, and supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the strengthening of civic skills in the madrasah environment.Methodology: This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis using triangulation of sources, methods, and time to ensure data validity. The participants consisted of Pancasila Education teachers, students, and the principal and vice principal of the madrasah. Data were analyzed through stages of reduction, presentation, and inductive conclusion drawing. Results: The findings show that the application of 21st-century skills in Pancasila Education strengthens students' civic skills through critical thinking, group collaboration, reflective communication, and active participation. Teachers' pedagogical strategies that integrate constructivism and deliberative democracy theories effectively foster students' intellectual abilities and social responsibility. Supporting factors include a religious and collaborative school culture and a curriculum emphasizing moral and spiritual values, while obstacles involve limited facilities, time, and varied student engagement.Applications/Originality/Value: This study contributes theoretically to developing a 6C-based Pancasila Education model relevant to the madrasah context. Practically, it serves as a reference for teachers to design contextual, participatory, and character-oriented learning. Its originality lies in integrating 21st-century competencies with Islamic and national values to form critical, religious, and responsible citizens.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the influence of environmental awareness and social concern on the ecological citizenship of Generation Alpha students in Kartasura District.Methodology: The research used a quantitative descriptive method with a correlational design. The sampling technique used was proportional random sampling. The research population consisted of 4,183 junior high school and MTs students, with a sample of 255 respondents. Results: The results show that environmental awareness has a positive and significant effect on students' ecological citizenship, as evidenced by a Sig. value of < 0.001 (< 0.05) and a T-count of 7.296 > T-table 1.969, meaning that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Conversely, social concern does not have a significant effect on ecological citizenship, as indicated by a Sig. value of 0.138 (> 0.05) and a T-count of 1.489 < T-table 1.969, so that H0 is accepted and H2 is rejected. These findings show that social concern does not always lead to ecological behavior. Simultaneously, environmental awareness and social concern have a significant effect on ecological citizenship, based on a Sig. value of 0.001 (< 0.05) and an F-count of 56.363 > F-table 3.031, meaning that H0 is rejected and H3 is accepted, which means that both independent variables have a combined effect on ecological citizenship.Applications/Originality/Value: This study highlights the key role of environmental awareness in shaping Generation Alpha's ecological citizenship and offers practical guidance for schools, given that social concern does not always translate into ecological action.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of self-control on the manners of Generation Alpha among high school students in Karanganyar Regency who live in a digital environment with high technology exposure.Methodology: This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a correlational design, with a proportional random sampling technique from a population of 3,649 students and involving 251 respondents who meet the age criteria of Generation Alpha. The research instrument is a 45-item questionnaire that has passed the validity test (r > 0.267) and has strong reliability (Cronbach's Alpha > 0.60). Data analysis was carried out using classical assumption tests for normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity, and hypothesis testing via simple regression and t-tests.Results: The results show that self-control has a positive and significant effect on the manners of Generation Alpha, evidenced by a Sig. value of 0.001 (<0.05) and a t-count of 5.607 > t-table of 1.970 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The regression coefficient of 0.882 indicates that increased self-control directly contributes to improved manners, such as maintaining ethical communication, being humble, speaking well, and respecting others.Applications/Originality/Value: This finding confirms that self-control is a crucial factor in shaping polite behavior, especially in the context of digital life, which is vulnerable to negative impulses. Theoretically, this study strengthens the concept of self-control as a predictor of prosocial behavior, while practically offering important implications for schools, parents, and policymakers in designing character education interventions that focus on strengthening self-regulation to maintain polite values among Generation Alpha.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyse the influence of digital literacy and civic literacy on civic responsibility among prospective teachers.Methodology: The study employs a quantitative descriptive methodology with a correlational design, using purposive random sampling. The research population consists of 2.791 people, and the research sample consists of 247 students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Results: The results show that all three research hypotheses were proven and accepted. The t-value for digital literacy was 3.247 > t-table 1.651, and the t-value for civic literacy was 9.992 > t-table 1.651, indicating that H1 was accepted. Digital literacy and civic responsibility are positively correlated, and H2 is approved, indicating a favorable impact between civic literacy and civic responsibility. The F-test indicates that both literacies positively affect civic responsibility. These findings indicate that the higher the levels of digital literacy and civic literacy among prospective teachers, the higher their awareness and sense of responsibility as citizens, both in real life and the digital space. Digital literacy and civic literacy help students understand their actions and consequences in the digital and real worlds, thereby fostering a stronger sense of civic responsibility.Applications/Originality/Value: This research can be applied in the development of curricula and learning strategies for Pancasila and Civic Education. The novelty of this research lies in the simultaneous empirical testing of digital and civic literacy to analyse the formation of civic responsibility in the digital age, this area has not been widely studied among prospective teachers.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the influence of parenting styles and self-control on adolescents' sense of responsibility.Methodology: A quantitative approach with an ex post facto design was employed,. The sampling technique used is proportional stratified random sampling. The study population consists of 711 grade 11 students at SMAN 1 Kartasura and SMAN 2 Sukoharjo, and the study sample consists of 256 students. Results: The simultaneous regression analysis shows that parenting style and self-control jointly have a significant effect on adolescents' responsibility (F = 161.863, p < 0.05). Self-control emerged as the strongest predictor, contributing more substantially to the variance of responsibility compared with parenting style.Applications/Originality/Value: This study can be applied in the field of Civic Education by quantitatively proving that Self Control is a more dominant predictor than Parenting Style in explaining the formation of Responsibility in Adolescents. This finding confirms that the internalization of national values and civic responsibility is highly dependent on an individual's capacity for self-regulation. Its applied value lies in concrete recommendations for teachers and civic education curriculum developers to design integrative intervention programs that not only teach values but also explicitly prioritize training in Self-Control skills and impulse management.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to ascertain how social media use and self-awareness affect students' digital ethics.Methodology: The research utilizes a correlational design and a quantitative methodology. A questionnaire with twenty-two statements was used to gather data. 255 students from the UMS Faculty of Teacher Training and Education made up the research sample. The data analysis procedure employed multiple linear regression, T-test, F-test, coefficient of determination, and prerequisite tests (normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity). Results: The regression equation Y = 7.900 + 0.665X1 + 0.709X2 revealed that social media use (X1) and self-awareness (X2) had a favorable and significant impact on digital ethics. Social media (t = 6.778; p < 0.05) and self-awareness (t = 8.203; p < 0.05) have a substantial partial influence, according to the t-test, and both have a significant simultaneous effect, according to the F-test (F = 201.326; p < 0.05). 61% of the variation in students' performance is explained by the two independent factors. in students' digital ethics, according to the Adjusted R Square value of 0.612. Applications/Originality/Value: This study is important because it shows that students' digital ethics are more influenced by their level of self-awareness than by their frequency of social media use. This finding makes an original contribution by emphasizing that strengthening digital ethics needs to focus on increasing self-awareness and digital literacy. The findings of this study can be used to improve education, particularly in the areas of digital literacy and character education, in order to mold moral and responsible online conduct.
