Abstract

This study looks at what it means to be an educator, as seen through the ideas of Imam Al-Ghazali, and places his thoughts in today's educational world. Al-Ghazali believed that educators are not just people who teach facts, but also spiritual leaders who help students grow morally and get closer to Allah. The research uses a review of Al-Ghazali's writings and modern Islamic education materials to find out what makes an ideal educator in his view. The results show that Al-Ghazali focused on qualities like good character, proper behavior, honest intentions, and patience as the key parts of being a professional educator. These ideas are still very important today, especially in dealing with moral issues, a loss of good values, and the gap between knowledge and spiritual beliefs. The study ends by saying that it is very important to bring back the role of educators as both teachers and moral guides in Islamic education to raise a generation that is both smart and good hearted.

Abstract

Translation is the process of transferring meaning from a source language to a target language while preserving the message, context, and communicative intent of the original text. In the context of Arabic, translation poses unique challenges due to its rich morphological structure, flexible syntax, and context-dependent semantic nuances. This study aims to examine the translation process and several translation models developed by leading scholars. The method used is library research by collecting and analyzing literature related to translation theory and practice. The findings show that the translation process involves analysis, transfer, and restructuring stages, although each expert emphasizes different approaches. The classical model focuses on lexical equivalence, Nida and Taber highlight dynamic equivalence, Suryawinata emphasizes deep and surface structure, while Newmark focuses on contextual and stylistic interpretation. Understanding these models enables translators to produce more accurate, natural, and contextually appropriate translations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of a multireligious environment on the attitude of tolerance in religious moderation of children and adolescents in the Wijaya Kusuma Housing Complex. The background of this study departs from the conditions of Indonesian society which is pluralistic, where religious diversity is an important part of social life. The Wijaya Kusuma Housing Complex is one of the areas with residents with different religious backgrounds, making it the right place to observe how interfaith social interactions influence religious moderation attitudes among the younger generation. The results of the study indicate that the multireligious environment and attitudes of tolerance in religious moderation of children and adolescents in the Wijaya Kusuma Housing Complex. shows that the better the conditions of the multireligious environment, the higher the level of tolerance and moderation attitudes possessed by children and adolescents. Factors of interfaith social interaction, joint social activities, and the role of community leaders have a major contribution in shaping moderate and open attitudes towards differences. This study confirms that a religiously heterogeneous social environment can be an effective learning medium in instilling the values of religious tolerance and moderation from an early age. Therefore, synergy is needed between families, educational institutions, and the community to continue to strengthen the culture of mutual respect and appreciation of differences in a multicultural society.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a diverse nation with a wealth of cultures, ethnicities, religions, and languages. This cultural plurality is both a strength and a challenge in realizing education that is fair and inclusive, especially for minority groups. This article examines the relationship between cultural plurality and minority education from a multicultural perspective, highlighting how the national education system addresses the complexities of such diversity. The research method uses a literature study with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques involve reading and drawing conclusions from various literature sources, including books or relevant articles. Data analysis techniques include inventorying, categorizing, and analyzing research data. The study results indicate that education in Indonesia still faces challenges in terms of equal access, cultural representation, and multicultural teacher competencies. Therefore, a humanistic educational approach that is culturally just and sensitive to local values is needed so that plurality becomes an integrative strength, rather than a source of exclusion.

Abstract

This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by examining classical and contemporary Sufi literature. The data are analyzed descriptively and analytically to understand the meaning, position, and role of each maqām in shaping a Muslim’s spirituality. The findings indicate that each maqām serves an interconnected function and cannot be separated from one another. Repentance forms the foundational stage of soul purification; waraʿ acts as a safeguard for the purity of the heart; zuhd frees the soul from worldly attachments; patience strengthens inner resilience in obedience and trials; while tawakkul cultivates inner peace through complete surrender to Allah SWT. This article affirms that maqāmāt are not exclusively relevant to Sufis but can be applied by all Muslims in their daily lives. Amid the challenges of modern life characterized by materialism and spiritual anxiety, the concept of maqāmāt offers a systematic spiritual framework for forming a Muslim personality that is morally upright, balanced, and oriented toward the values of the Hereafter.

Abstract

The acceleration of social and cultural modernization in Indonesia has had two impacts: on the one hand, it has strengthened the dynamics of social and cultural life, but on the other hand, it has given rise to challenges such as value divisions, identity conflicts, and religious polarization. This article analyzes how religious moderation can be a solution to address this modernization. Applying qualitative research methods focused on a literature review of primary sources (including documents in Arabic, English, and Javanese) and a critical analysis of the Indonesian context, this paper investigates the ability of religious moderation to bridge socio-cultural change and interfaith harmony. The research findings suggest that religious moderation, characterized by the principles of balance, inclusivity, and intercultural dialogue, has the potential to ease social tensions and maintain cultural diversity in a modernizing environment. However, the success of this moderation is highly dependent on factors such as institutions, religious education, and local cultural awareness. The implications of this research point to the need for increased literacy in pluralistic and culturally diverse religions, the development of moderation programs in digital platforms and local cultural contexts, and collaboration between religious leaders, civil society, and government institutions.

Abstract

Education in the era of globalization and digitalization presents Islamic schools with the significant challenge of developing a young generation that is not only academically competent but also moderate in religion. This article aims to analyze the implementation of a religious moderation curriculum in Islamic schools as an effort to foster tolerant, inclusive, and critical attitudes in the Gen Z generation. The research approach used a descriptive qualitative method, with literature review and limited interviews with teachers and students at Islamic schools in Indonesia. The results indicate that the integration of religious moderation values into the Islamic school curriculum occurs through several patterns: (1) adapting the syllabus and learning activities to the theme of tolerance and diversity, (2) using digital media and active reflection to capture the technology-oriented character of Gen Z, and (3) developing teachers as facilitators of value change. Obstacles identified include a lack of teacher training, limited learning media relevant to Gen Z, and the inherently conservative nature of school cultures. The conclusion of this study states that the implementation of a religious moderation curriculum in Islamic schools has significant potential to strengthen the moderate character of the Gen Z generation.
