Abstract

Islamic education faces the problem of dualism between the theocentric paradigm oriented towards divinity and the anthropocentric paradigm oriented towards humans. The first paradigm often closes the space for rationality, while the second eliminates spiritual values. This article attempts to reconstruct the paradigm of Islamic education by integrating the values of transcendence and humanity to create a balance between faith and knowledge. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach based on literature studies on the thoughts of al-Attas, al-Faruqi, and Fazlur Rahman, this study emphasizes four main principles of reconstruction: integrative (revelation and reason), humanistic (development of human potential), transformative (formation of social awareness), and contextual (relevant to the times). This reconstructive paradigm is expected to produce perfect human beings who are knowledgeable, faithful, and have noble character and are able to make Islamic education a moral and intellectual force in building civilization.

Abstract

Total Quality Management (TQM) has become an i mportant approach to improving organizational performance through continuous improvement efforts. However, various studies show that its implementation often fails due to structural and cultural constraints within the organization. This makes a critical review of the causes of failure and success factors of TQM important to conduct as a basis for developing sustainable quality practices. This literature review article aims to analyze the factors causing the failure of TQM implementation and map related research trends, by answering two research questions: (1) What factors influence the success or failure of TQM implementation according to previous research? (2) What research gaps remain unanswered in TQM studies? The method used is a systematic literature review by searching articles through Google Scholar and DOAJ using the keywords TQM, TQM, quality implementation, and organizational quality. Of the 18 initial articles, 6 relevant articles were analyzed thematically. The review results indicate three main themes: the importance of leadership in quality management, the challenges of organizational culture to the success of TQM, and the impact of TQM implementation on organizational performance. Previous studies have been limited to descriptive studies and the context of education and public services. Therefore, future research needs to develop context-based MMT implementation models, strengthen empirical approaches, and integrate modern management innovations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of pesantren literacy culture amid the intersection of classical Islamic scholarly traditions, educational modernity, and the demands of globalized information. As one of the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia with distinctive literacy traditions, pesantren are increasingly challenged by modernity and globalization, which are often perceived as forces capable of eroding their identity and epistemic continuity. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, drawing on academic literature related to pesantren literacy culture. Data were analyzed using Bourdieu’s theory of habitus, Gee’s Critical Literacy Studies, and Giddens’s disembedding mechanisms to map the dialectical relationship between pesantren’s traditional structures and broader social transformations. The findings indicate that pesantren literacy culture remains deeply rooted in classical scholarly habitus, which maintains epistemic continuity and cultural capital, while modernization and globalization stimulate innovation through the integration of digital technology, the strengthening of critical literacy, and curriculum development. The interaction among these three dimensions produces a form of literacy that is adaptive, selective, and contextually grounded, demonstrating that the transformation of pesantren literacy is not a simple shift between tradition and modernity, but a complex and ongoing process of negotiation that preserves the institution’s distinctiveness.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has driven significant changes in the field of education, especially in the Southeast Asia region. This study aims to compare the digital learning strategies used in Indonesia and Singapore through a comparative research method based on document analysis. Information was obtained from various government policies, official documents, research articles, and relevant digital publications. The results show that Indonesia prioritizes equitable access to technology, enhancement of digital skills for educators, and provision of educational facilities through national policies. In this context, Singapore focuses on technological innovation, development of technology-oriented education systems, and application of collaborative learning methods supported by integrated digital devices. The comparison reveals that Indonesia still faces challenges related to infrastructure and digital capabilities, while Singapore has achieved a more consistent level of digital development. This research provides in-depth insights into the advantages and difficulties faced by each country, serving as a guideline for future education digitalization policies.

Abstract

This research examines the importance of tolerance as the main foundation for religious moderation in Indonesia. The issue raised is related to the increase in conflict and intolerance that threatens interreligious harmony. This study confirms that tasamuh, which is an attitude of tolerance and appreciation for differences, is crucial for maintaining cultural and religious diversity at the national level. The approach used includes literature reviews and literature studies. This finding indicates that the implementation of tolerance is capable of strengthening religious moderation, reducing radicalism, and increasing social harmony. Additionally, this research provides strategic recommendations for strengthening education and public policy to instill the value of tolerance in community life.

Abstract

Generation Z lives in a social space characterized by openness of information, cross-cultural interactions, and high intensity of digital media use. These conditions present both opportunities and challenges, especially in relation to their ability to respond to religious, cultural, and identity plurality. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing religious moderation values among Generation Z and effective strategies that can be applied in the context of education, particularly Islamic Religious Education. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through literature study and limited interviews with students to explore perceptions, attitudes, and practices of religious moderation. The results of the study indicate that the internalization of religious moderation values can be optimized through three aspects: strengthening digital religious literacy, collaborative learning that emphasizes dialogue across differences, and the exemplary role of educators in applying the principles of tawassuth, tasamuh, tawazun, and i'tidal. The conclusion of this study confirms that religious moderation is an important competency for Generation Z in building inclusive attitudes and adaptive abilities to face socio-religious diversity in the contemporary era.

Abstract

The study aims to comprehensively analyze and synthesize the impact of two dominant social media platforms, TikTok and Instagram, on two fundamental aspects of Generation Z's (Gen Z) religiosity: understanding of Islamic teachings and practice of worship, viewed from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Gen Z, as true digital natives, exhibits a massive reliance on online content, which fundamentally transforms how they access and internalize religious values. This shift creates serious challenges related to Digital Religious Literacy, where Gen Z's understanding of worship tends to be fragmentary and susceptible to algorithmic bias. In practice, worship is often shifted from the spiritual-personal domain to the public-social domain, increasing the risk of digital riyā' (showing off) and eroding khushū'(solemnity) due to digital distractions. The research method employed is a qualitative library research (study of literature). Data were systematically collected through documentation techniques from various primary and secondary sources, including reputable scientific journals, reference books, and recent studies on digital literacy, adolescent psychology, and Islamic education. The collected data were then analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns, value shifts, and formulate an PAI-based solution framework. The findings highlight a crisis of spiritual integrity and authenticity in worship among Gen Z. In response, the study posits the strategic role of PAI as a critical intervention.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a theoretical model on the relevance and strategic role of the philosophy of education in redefining the meaning of learning amid the dominance of digital technology. The central issue is how the philosophy of education can offer a robust conceptual framework to navigate, not merely utilize, the digital ecosystem. This research employs a qualitative approach using the Library Research method, focusing on philosophical-conceptual analysis. The findings indicate that technology triggers a shift in the meaning of learning from a one-way transfer of information to the active construction of knowledge (constructivism), transforming the teacher into a critical facilitator. The core relevance of philosophy (Axiology, Epistemology, Ontology) is heightened. Epistemology serves as a fortress against the "Digital Truth Crisis" by demanding critical literacy, while Axiology provides a moral compass for digital ethics issues. In synthesis, the enriched meaning of learning is a metacognitive process that merges technical proficiency with moral maturity (wisdom). The philosophy of education acts as a moral and intellectual regulator, ensuring that technology serves the ultimate goal of education: the holistic development of human beings.
