Abstract

This study examines the integration of the historical values of the Youth Pledge in Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) learning at an elementary Islamic school (MI) in Kendari City, with a focus on fostering students' nationalist spirit. The purpose of this study is to explore learning strategies that can build national awareness through the historical values of the Youth Pledge. The method used is a qualitative research with a case study approach, involving observation, interviews, and documentation in the PPKn MI class. The results show that the integration of the historical values of the Youth Pledge in PPKn learning contributes significantly to increasing students' national awareness and national identity. This approach successfully builds students' understanding of the importance of unity in diversity and increases their sense of social responsibility towards the nation. Consequently, the integration of these historical values enriches civic learning practices, encourages more contextual character education, and contributes to the formation of a more nationalistic and tolerant generation. This study also proposes the development of a more flexible and adaptive curriculum to optimize students' understanding of national values.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the citizenship needs reflected in the daily activities of madrasah ibtidaiyah students, as well as the role of these activities in the formation of students' citizenship character. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method involving observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The research informants consisted of teachers, students, and principals in madrasah ibtidaiyah in Kendari City. The results show that daily activities such as the implementation of class pickets, flag ceremonies, religious activities, and social interactions between students serve as a means to instill citizenship values, including responsibility, cooperation, justice, and social care. Through engagement in these activities, students not only acquire knowledge of their rights and obligations as citizens, but also develop social skills and attitudes that support their role in society. This research suggests that schools should further integrate citizenship activities in students' daily activities to enhance civic learning that is more applicable and contextual, by strengthening the role of teachers in facilitating the internalization of these values.

Abstract

The issue of low critical thinking skills and weak internalization of national values among Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students has become a serious challenge in Civics Education (PKN) learning. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI) media in improving students’ critical thinking skills and national attitudes at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Kendari City. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research involved Civics teachers and fifth-grade students as key informants. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using N-Vivo software. The findings indicate that the integration of AI-based media in PBL significantly enhances students' abilities in analyzing civic issues, developing creative solutions, and communicating ideas both verbally and non-verbally more effectively. Furthermore, national values such as tolerance, deliberation, and patriotism were well internalized through problem-based learning activities. This study contributes to the development of constructivist learning theories and offers an innovative instructional model for character education in madrasahs. The model is recommended for broader implementation in primary education curricula based on national values.

Abstract

The implementation of character education through the Pancasila Student Profile faces challenges in its implementation due to limited adaptation to local contexts. This research aims to identify and analyze Southeast Sulawesi local wisdom values relevant to character formation according to the Pancasila Student Profile, and to formulate a model for integrating this local wisdom into the educational curriculum. The research uses a qualitative approach with educational ethnography methods, involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews with 24 key informants (traditional leaders, educators, and policy makers), and documentation studies of local cultural practices in four districts in Southeast Sulawesi. The results show that there are five local wisdom values that strongly correlate with the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile: (1) Kohanu (shame and dignity) supports the dimension of faith and piety; (2) Samaturu (mutual cooperation) strengthens the dimension of collaboration; (3) Merou (social care) sustains the dimension of global diversity; (4) Pombala (deliberation and critical thinking) develops the dimension of critical reasoning; and (5) Poashi-ashi (persistence and perseverance) builds the dimension of independence. The resulting integration model includes the development of local content based on cultural wisdom, the involvement of traditional leaders in learning, and cultural practices as extracurricular activities that strengthen the character of Pancasila Students based on the local values of Southeast Sulawesi communities.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning media in improving students' understanding, reasoning, and communication in Citizenship Education (PKn) learning in Elementary Schools or Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, in the context of the Merdeka Curriculum. The main problem faced is how the use of this technology can support the development of students' character and strengthen understanding of citizenship values. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study at MI Asy-Syafi'iyah Kendari. Data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation analysis. The data analysis technique used the NVivo application to identify patterns and themes that emerged from qualitative data. The results of the study showed that AI-based media were effective in improving understanding of PKn teaching materials, as well as helping students develop verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Another significant impact is the improvement in the quality, creativity, and collaborative attitudes of students. This study confirms that the integration of technology in learning can strengthen students' character and deepen citizenship literacy, but also identifies challenges related to teacher skills and equal access to technology. Recommendations for this study include the importance of teacher training and increasing access to technology across regions.
