Jurnal FUADUNA: Jurnal Kajian Keagamaan dan Kemasyarakatan is a peer-reviewed journal which is published by Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Bukitinggi in collaboration with Himpunan Peminat Ilmu-Ilmu Ushuluddin (HIPIUS) and publishes biannually in June and December. It focuses mainly on the related issues to Quran and Hadits, Islamic philosophy and thoughts, culture and social studies, Islamic history studies, and dakwah and communications studies. JURNAL FUADUNA: Jurnal Kajian Keagamaan dan Kemasyarakat published at first Vol. 1, No. 1, 2017 biannually in in June and December. Reviewers will review any submitted paper. Review process employs a double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the influence of Islamic values in Indonesia in the form of culture and local wisdom of the Minangkabau people. We will discover the extraordinary fact that Minangkabau local culture and wisdom has a very high Islamic value. Culture is something very important in society, because culture is identity. Culture makes a society different from another society. In society, culture has its own value, just like the Arabic culture and Indonesian culture. The different from Arabic culture and Indonesian culture is influenced by desert. The arabic live in difficult way whereas the Indonesian live in prosperous area. The prosperous area. will create an extraordinary culture. Besides, the local wisdom in Indonesia is influenced by the sharia value. That is because of Islam has become the majority that affects everyone in Indonesia, espe cially Minangkabau people. The presence of Islam in Malay brought new concepts and values that replace the mystical values toward rational thinking. Islam also capable in solving unresolved problems in previous Malay beliefs. The deep influence makes Malay culture identicl with Islam. This is due to the proverb mention “ "syarak mengata adat memakai", which implies that custom is an operational of Islamic values. In addition, Malay culture are sourced from Islam and there is nothing opposite to Islam, if there is a conflict among the custom, the custum must succumb. This is expressed in “tradition be upon the religion, the religion be upon the Qur’an” Penulisan karya tulis ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh nilai Islam di Indonesia dalam Budaya dan kearifan lokal orang Minangkabau. Kita akan menemukan fakta yang luar biasa, bahwa budaya dan kearifan lokal Minangkabau memiliki nilai Islam yang sangat tinggi. Berbicara tentang budaya, budaya adalah Sesuatu yang sangat penting dalam masyarakat, karena budaya adalah identitas. Budaya membuat suatu masyarakat berbeda dengan masyarakat lainnya. Dalam masyarakat, budaya memiliki nilai, tapi itu berbeda disetiap masyarakat. Kalau kita bandingkan dengan budaya Arab, penyebab budaya Indonesia berbeda dengan budaya Arab adalah budaya Arab dipengaruhi oleh padang pasir, jadi mereka hidup dalam kehidupan yang sulit sedangkan kehidupan orang Indonesia, mereka hidup pada daerah subur. Kawasan subur akan menciptakan budaya yang luar biasa. Kearifan lokal dalam masyarakat bisa dipengaruhi oleh Agama. Di Indonesia, kearifan lokal dipengaruhi oleh nilai syariah. Itu terjadi, karena Islam telah menjadi mayoritas yang mempengaruhi setiap orang di Indonesia, masyarakat Minangkabau khususnya. Kehadiran Islam di dunia Melayu membawa konsep-konsep dan nilai-nilai baru yang menggeser nilai-nilai yang berbau mistis ke arah pemikiran yang rasional. Islam juga mampu memecahkan persoalan-persoalan yang tak terpecahkan dalam keyakinan orang Melayu sebelumnya. Begitu dalamnya pengaruh Islam dalam kebudayaan Melayu sehingga banyak kalangan mengatakan bahwa Melayu identik dengan Islam. Hal ini disebabkan karena adanya pepatah adat yang menyebutkan “syarak mengata adat memakai”, yang mengandung arti bahwa adat merupakan operasional dari nilai-nilai Islam. Di samping itu adat dalam kebudayaan Melayu bersumber dari Islam dan tidak boleh ada pertentangan adat dengan Islam, jika terdapat pertentangan maka adatlah yang mengalah. Hal ini diungkapkan dalam pepatah adat “adat bersendi syarak, syarak bersendi kitabullah”.

Abstract

This paper explains the role of the public sphere based on Jurgen Habermas’s concept and analyzes its relevance for multicultural societies in the Indonesian Context. The public sphere exists to present democracy, tolerance, friendship, inclusivism in diversity, unity in diversity, and education. Indonesia is a country that reflects multiculturalism, can realize peace and unity within a multicultural frame. This article was developed using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. This paper explains the role of public space based on Jurgen Habermas for interdisciplinary scholarship and its relevance. His findings show Jurgen Habermas's approach through the public sphere can bring about unity and peace in all aspects of life, including differences in beliefs and multicultural contexts.

Abstract

This paper examines the hadarat tradition as part of integrating Islam with local culture by the Al-Katiri Arab group in Tual City. Attendance is a unique ritual that the people of Tual City carry out in celebrating religious holidays such as Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, weddings, circumcisions, and other religious activities. The community conducts friendship around the village while dancing accompanied by chanting shalawat to the Prophet Muhammad with music (tambourine) in the hadarat. This article uses a qualitative descriptive method, with observations, interviews, and documentation as the data collection techniques. This article shows that the Al-Katiri Arab community played a role in the spread of Islam in Tual City through trade routes and social and cultural approaches. The descendants of the marriage between the Arab al-Katiri group and the Kei Community of Tual City have been considered one part of the Kei community of Tual City. The information was obtained using historical research methods. Appreciating the culture of the Kei people of Tual City as a form of preaching the spread of Islam is the key to the success of the Al-Katiri Arab group living in harmony amid society with local cultural traditions.Tulisan ini mengkaji tentang tradisi hadarat sebagai bagian dari strategi mengintegrasikan Islam dengan kebudayaan lokal oleh kelompok Arab Al-Katiri di Kota Tual. Hadarat menjadi sebuah ritual unik yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Kota Tual dalam merayakan hari besar keagamaan seperti Hari Raya Idul Fitri, Hari Raya Idul Adha, perkawinan, khitanan, dan kegiatan keagamaan lainnya. Masyarakat melakukan silaturahim mengelilingi kampung sambil menari diiringi lantunan shawat kepada Nabi Muhammad dengan musik (rebana) dalam hadarat. Artikel ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi sebagai Teknik pengumpulan datanya. Hasil peneltian artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa komunitas Arab Al-Katiri berperan dalam penyebaran agama Islam di Kota Tual, melalui jalur perdagangan dan pendekatan sosial dan budaya. Keturunan dari hasil pernikahan antara kelompok Arab al-Katiri dengan Masyarakat Kei Kota Tual sudah dianggap sebagai satu bagian dengan masyarakat Kei Kota Tual. Informasi tersebut didapatkan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah. Menghargai kebudayaan masyarakat Kei Kota Tual sebagai suatu bentuk dakwah penyebaran agama Islam merupakan kunci kesuksesan kelompok Arab Al-Katiri hidup rukun di tengah-tengah masyarakat dengan tradisi budaya lokal.

Abstract

As one of the business entities under the umbrella of the unitary state of Indonesia, Islamic banks are also required to implement Good Corporate Governance which will henceforth be abbreviated as GCG. The application of GCG in Islamic banks is important considering Islamic banks are banks that use the principle of profit sharing. GCG is a requirement for Islamic banks to develop well and healthy. Good GCG implementation refers to five principles, namely accountability, transparency, independence, responsibility and fairness. The concept of Good Corporate Governance between conventional banks and Islamic banks is basically the same, but the difference between the two is the existence of Shariah compliance and the existence of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS). Islamic banks managed and owned by human resources who have integrity (good morals) and professionals, will encourage the implementation of the principles of good governance (Good Corporate Governance).

Abstract

Islamization in Mentawai islands is amidst the majority of non-Muslim Protestant Christians and Catholic Christians. Not to mention the local beliefs held by the Mentawai people who are against Islam. The characteristics of the localities of the Mentawai people who are friendly, kind, and highly appreciative of guests are one of the reasons for Islamization in Mentawai. This research is a research library with a qualitative analysis approach—the data collection work through observation and interviews with preachers concerned with Islamization in the Mentawai. Data analysis techniques use data analysis techniques Miles and Huberman, data reduction, presentation, and conclusions. The process of accepting Islam in Mentawai was peaceful, but due to a lack of guidance, the Mentawai people became apostates again. The Mentawai people convert to Islam by negotiating, such as education, marriage, self-sufficiency, and poverty. Some Mentawi people have started to study tauhid, and many Muslim women have veiled a lot. However, there are still some who choose pigs, done in secret. The government urgently needs to pay attention to Islamization in the Mentawai. Islamisasi di Mentawai terjadi di tengah-tengah mayoritas nonmuslim, dimana lebih dominan masyarakat beragama Kristen Protestan dan Kristen Katolik. Belum lagi kepercayaan lokal yang dianut oleh masyarakat Mentawai yang bertentang dengan agama Islam. Karakteristik lokalitas masyarakat Mentawai yang ramah, baik dan sangat menghargai tamu menjadi salah satu alasan terjadinya Islamisasi di Mentawai. Penelitian ini merupakan kualitatif analisis. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan pendakwah yang peduli dengan Islamisasi di Mentawai. Untuk teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis data Miles dan Huberman, yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses Islamisasi yang terjadi di Mentawai berjalan damai, tetapi karena kurangnya pembinaan masyarakat Mentawai kembali menjadi murtad. Masyarakat Mentawai masuk Islam dengan melakukan negosiasi, seperti pendidikan, perkawinan, adanya kesadaran diri sendiri dan karena faktor kemiskinan. Sebagian masyarakat Mentawai sudah mulai belajar tauhid dan perempuan Muslim telah banyak berjilbab. Walaupun masih ada yang memelihara babi, tapi dilakukan secara sembunyi-sembunyi. Sangat diperlukan kepedulian dari pemerintah untuk memperhatikan Islamisasi di Mentawai.

Abstract

The science which is lost first among muslim community is the knowledge of inheritance as Rasulullah had been explained. Moreover, there are some efforts to destroy the inheritance law arrangement in islam. By the opinion that the division of inheritance that for son is equal with two daughters is a form of injustice toward woman. Therefore, it is allowed to create modification for Islamic inheritance law. This paper tries to explain the justice concept in Islamic inheritance law. By the conclusion that, First ; the definition of Islamic inheritance law has to follow the determination by Allah SWT and it does not mean that equal division is equal quantity. Second; in the case of inheritance division in islam, it contains the universal justice according to theology, economic and social.

Abstract

This article discusses the construction of defining religion in Indonesia which cannot be separated from the influence of the world religions paradigm. Indonesia is one of the countries that has implemented a religious management policy based on recognition, through Law no. 1/PNPS 1965 concerning the Prevention of Religious Abuse and/or Blasphemy. This research article focuses on examining how the patterns and strategies adopted by the adherents of local religions in Indonesia can exist in the middle of the vortex of recognition of official religions by the state. With the library research method analyzed using a content analysis approach, this article finds that the patterns and strategies used by adherents of local religions to maintain their existence are conversion or conversion, religious syncretism, and resistance, namely refuses to be affiliated with world religions. The various patterns and strategies that have emerged are the response of local religions to various state policies that co-opt their rights, especially civil rights in services and fulfillment of their needs, including civil registration, access to education, health facilities and facilities, to the registration of marriage. Artikel ini membahas tentang konstruksi pendefinisian agama di Indonesia yang tidak lepas dari pengaruh paradigma agama dunia. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang menerapkan kebijakan pengelolaan agama berdasarkan pengakuan, melalui UU No. 1/PNPS Tahun 1965 Tentang Pencegahan Penyalahgunaan dan/atau Penodaan Agama. Riset artikel ini fokus untuk mengkaji bagaimana pola dan strategi yang diterapkan oleh para penganut agama Lokal di Indonesia agar dapat eksis di tengah pusaran pengakuan agama-agama resmi oleh negara. Dengan metode studi kepustakaan (library research) yang dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan analisis isi (content analysis), artikel ini menemukan bahwa pola dan strategi yang digunakan oleh penganut agama lokal dalam mempertahankan eksistensinya adalah dengan melakukan konversi atau pindah agama, sinkretisme agama, dan resistensi, yakni menolak untuk diafiliasikan dengan agama dunia. Ragam pola dan strategi yang mengemuka ini sebagai respon agama lokal terhadap berbagai kebijakan negara yang mengkooptasi hak-hak mereka, terutama hak-hak sipil dalam pelayanan dan pemenuhan kebutuhannya, baik pencatatan sipil, akses pendidikan, sarana dan fasilitas kesehatan, hingga pencatatan perkawinan.

Abstract

The controversy of the Prophet Muhammad's caricature in Charlie Hebdo magazine resulted in Muslim communities’ protests from various parts of the world, including Indonesia. In response to this religious harassment, various steps were taken, including boycotting French products and criticizing secularism, which has been the constitutional principle of French. This article aimed at providing another perspective in viewing the controversy by looking back at the point where this problem began, the caricature of the Prophet Muhammad. This study sees that caricatures are not only inanimate objects, but they also have agency. To be able to see this agency in the particularity of space and time, we rely on semiotic ideology as the theoretical framework. Semiotic ideology is an assumption of signs that see various possibilities in signs, including their materiality. The Charlie Hebdo controversy is a clash of semiotic ideologies formed by the particularity of space and time and manifested in the responses shown in the face of the Charlie Hebdo controversy. In Indonesia, this semiotic ideology was born from political polarization, religious resurgence, and conservative turn. We see that the analysis of icon and materiality still have not really taken any significant part of religious studies and Islamic studies in Indonesia, including in studying the Charlie Hebdo controversy.

Abstract

Minangkabau language is one of influenced languages of South East Asian region, which are subject to influence and characterization by influencing languages that are the medium of dissemination of cultures and believes. Of the influential languages is Arabic, medium of dissemination of Islam. As Minangkabau people embrace Islam, they also embrace and get familiar with Arabic, and adapt Arabic words according to the norms of Minangkabau language. Thus, this research is intended to identify loan words in Minangkabau language that can be traced back to Arabic language, and analyze the changes made to the words. The loan words are compared to the original words of Arabic language to identify the changes, and analyze the meanings, forms and phoneme. This research is library research that comprises data collection and analysis methods. The samples for this research are the loan words taken from Kamus Umum Bahasa Minangkabau Indonesia. Besides, al-Mucjam al-Wasit is used to trace the original meanings in Arabic language whereas Kamus Kontemporer Arab Indonesia is significant to identify the translated meanings in Indonesian language. This research shows that there is an interaction between the Arabians and the people of Minangkabau, leaving a positive effect in enriching Minangkabau language with Arabic loan words. The loan words can be classified: as loan word with sustained meanings and loan words with changed meanings according to word-meaning relation; as loan words with sustained form and loan words with changed form according to alphabetical form; as loan words with sustained pronunciation and loan words with changed pronunciation according pronunciation aspect. However, most Arabic loan words in Minangkabau language retain meaning originality and word form but there are few loan words are subject to changes in meaning and form.

Abstract

Currently among Muslim youth there has been a shift in shopping behavior to coffeshop. Muslim youths are looking for excessive entertainment because they tend to follow models of today's development. The presence of the coffeshop has an impact on the consumptive behavior of Muslim teenagers. Based on the participation observation that there is a relationship between the existence of coffeshop to consumptive behavior of Muslim teenagers. Based on the results of the analysis of Islamic economic view that the behavior of consumptive Muslim teenagers is not in accordance with the behavior in consumption in Islamic economics which refers to the three basic principles of consumption that has been outlined by Islam is kosher consumption, consumption of sacred goods and not excessive. Consumption of Muslim teenagers is included in the category of consumptive behavior.
