Abstract

The focus of this research is how remittances from Madura to Jakarta affect the spending habits of families left behind. Six people are available for interview. From the interviews, the informants shared the experiences of the families and the migrants themselves in managing the remittances earned. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. The results of the interviews show that families are very happy and supportive of their members becoming circular migrant workers. This happens because of the limited job opportunities available in Madura, and the needs of life that must be met. Before a family member migrated to work, the family's life was so poor that they could not fulfill some family needs. But after a family member migrated, their economic life and even social life became better. The money earned by the family is used not only for consumption of daily needs, but the family prioritizes investment and most of them invest by buying gold, jewelry, land, and opening or expanding existing businesses. In addition, the families also prioritize their children's education so that they can go to school to the highest level possible.

Abstract

Employer branding design is important to create a good corporate image for both internal and external companies. Many studies have said that employer branding affects employee engagement because a good company image can make employee engagement and dedication increase to their work. In the XYZ foundation in Indonesia, there was a 1,49% decrease in the value of their Employee Engagement Index (EEI). The decline in the EEI at the XYZ foundation is assumed to be due to the absence of employer branding design at the foundation, and mediated or added by a fairly high employee burnout rate of 16.28%. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the influence or the importance of employer branding on employee engagement through job burnout as an intervening variable that mediates it. The method used in this study is quantitative with the technique of distributing questionnaires to foundation employees, then the results will be calculated using SMART PLS ver. 3.9 accompanied by descriptive analysis for explanation. Keywords: Employer branding, job burnout, employee engagement

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic requires students to study online using the Learning Management System (LMS). So studies are needed to understand students' continuing interest in adopting LMS during the COVID-19 pandemic by modifying the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of the Technology (UTAUT) Model. Modify this model by adding Social Isolation, Corona Fear, and Continuance Intention. This study used a quantitative method involving 310 student respondents using LMS in Yogyakarta using a simple random sampling technique. The questionnaires obtained were then processed using SEM-PLS analysis with the help of the SmartPLS version 3.2.9 statistical application. This study succeeded in finding that Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Social Influence (SI), and Facilitating Conditions (FC) had a positive and significant effect on Continuance Intention (CI). In contrast, Social Isolation (Iso) had a positive and unsignificant effect to CI. This study also found that the moderating effect of Corona Fear (CF) weakened the relationship between PE, SI, FC & SI on CI. In contrast, the moderating effect of CI strengthened the relationship between EE on CI. Based on the results of the exploratory study, it was found that it is likely that students will experience online learning saturation and want to study face-to-face immediately. Keywords: The UTAUT Model, Social Isolation, Corona Fear, Learning Management System, and the COVID-19 Pandemic.
