Abstract

This phenomenological qualitative study investigated the challenges and intervention strategies in the retention of teachers in private schools in Iligan City, Philippines. The researchers administered interviews to select private school administrators and teachers as the second data source. Three (3) significant themes were identified in strategies for retaining professional teachers: holistic teacher development, well-being and support, and nurturing a positive environment. Three (3) significant themes were derived from challenging experiences in keeping professional teachers: retention and turnover, mindset, and compensation. Four (4) significant themes were derived from the intervention strategies to retain professional teachers in private schools: supportive environment, innovative problem solving, empowerment, and professional and spiritual growth. It is recommended to administer tailored interventions, provide consistent leadership training, foster ongoing professional development, implement continuous strategy evaluation, and empower teachers through leadership skill development and grants for further studies to improve teacher retention in private schools.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to investigate leadership development needs of School Principals in selected schools in Omuthiya circuit in the Oshikoto Region, Namibia. The study used a mixed research approach, a convergent parallel research design. Data were collected using a questionnaire and structured interview guide. Twenty participants (20) were purposefully selected from 30 schools in Omuthiya Circuit in the Oshikoto Region. The study revealed that most school Principals in the study area do not have leadership skills and knowledge needed to set direction for schools; redesign their institutions, develop their staff and conduct instructional supervision. This lack of appropriate leadership skills and knowledge is impacting negatively on their execution of work. Another key finding was that the Regional Directorate has failed dismally to induct newly promoted Principals despite conducting fast tracked hand-over take-over mini-inductions. The presence of the CPD has not helped the Principals in acquiring the highly needed skills for the job, since very few workshops have been held due to financial limitations and lack of time. The study recommended that school Principals Omuthiya Circuit in the Oshikoto Region need to undergo leadership development training across all the four key practices, namely setting direction, instructional supervision, developing people and redesigning the organization, for them to be able to provide and demonstrate quality leadership skills which help improve their schools’ results.

Abstract

Education services through distance learning represent a system that allows students easier access to learning, given that the platforms of this system contain all the necessary materials that facilitate, speed up, and improve the distance learning system. The subject of this research is the management of the sale of services through a distance learning system. The goal of this work is to attract students to this way of studying, retain them, and ensure their satisfaction with this kind of learning system, which is a permanent and continuous job. The future behavior is primarily related to the analysis of the current situation, which primarily refers to the quality of the services provided/sold and the satisfaction of users with them. The research method is based on the author’s long-term work and his monitoring of this type of learning. A comparative analysis of the situation then and now is given, and along with the comparative analysis, the most recent research was done based on a survey and interviews of student users of this system, which is a representative sample. The empirical data were analyzed using the statistical program SPSS 22. The recommendation for further work refers to determining what students really want, which essentially represents the successful sale of services. The obtained results refer to the fact that there is no difference in attitudes and degree of satisfaction towards the consumption of this type of learning among different groups of students.

Abstract

The development of technology makes human life easier, but on the other hand, technology has an impact on the strained relationship between humans and mental health problems. Education has an important role in building a better civilization. In the midst of its problems, organic education pioneered by Ki Hajar Dewantara is an alternative education that can harmonize the relationship between humans and nature. Returning human nature as a servant and caliph on earth. . This study aims to explain the Islamic view on the relationship between humans and nature and its relevance to the concept of organic education popularized by Ki Hajar Dewantara considering that the approach used is more holistic, not only involving intellectual development, but also combining ecological and spiritual awareness in human life. The research method used is the literature study method. The conclusion of this study is that humans are part of a larger system, namely the universe and are interdependent on each other. Organic education is a promising alternative to bring humans back into harmony with the universe. By integrating ecological, social, and spiritual values ​​into the education curriculum, we can form a generation that is more aware and responsible for the sustainability of life on this earth.

Abstract

This paper tends to offer an insight into workforce management in its various forms and developmental stages. It also seeks to bring to light the Millennials or Generation Y who seem to be the most relevant workforce in today’s organization. While highlighting the relevance of the Gen Y(s), this work also looks at the retention strategies that will keep this generation happy and stable in the workplace to ensure efficient productivity and profitability. The retention strategies come into strong focus because this will go a long way in ensuring the stability of organizations in the present economic circumstances and concluded that understanding the generation of one’s employees will enhance employee retention in the workplace.

Abstract

Career development is crucial for university students to achieve their aspirations and imminent desired goals. Though have passionate determination, university students face the stark reality of lacking in necessary resources and proper facilities to nurture their skills and abilities compared to developed countries. This study aims to identify career aspirations and skill gaps, explore influencing factors, and identify skill development challenges among the students of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. This study is conducted through a mixed-methods approach. For the quantitative data a total of 250 surveys (both offline and online) are collected, and for the qualitative data case studies (05) are used to collect data from the students by convenient sampling technique. The study findings revealed a strong preference (39%) for public service careers in government or civil service sectors. Parental influence (36%) and self-motivation (25%) were major factors, outweighing external figures like teachers (10%). Expected career challenges were uncertainty (20%), skills gaps (24%), and lack of experience (16%). Major skill development obstacles were lack of mentoring (20%), resources (19%), and practical experience (18%). Besides, the findings of this study will provide pivotal insights into enhancing career services and skill development programs in Bangladeshi universities to better prepare students for success in the professional world. The significance of the study is hidden in its latent efficiency to inform policymakers, educators, and others about the factors, and challenges that influence university students' career aspirations and preparedness.

Abstract

This paper explores the integration of distributed systems in public management and its implications for governance, service delivery, and innovation. Drawing on a review of existing literature and case studies, the paper examines the applications, benefits, challenges, and opportunities associated with distributed systems in the public sector. Key findings indicate that distributed systems, such as blockchain technology, offer the potential to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public management. By providing immutable and auditable records of transactions and interactions, distributed systems can reduce the risk of corruption and fraud while streamlining operations and improving service delivery. However, challenges such as interoperability issues, data privacy concerns, and regulatory complexities pose significant hurdles to adoption. Nevertheless, the adoption of distributed systems presents opportunities for innovation and collaboration, enabling governments to develop novel solutions for governance, resource management, and service delivery. Moreover, distributed systems raise important ethical and societal considerations, emphasizing the need for inclusivity, equity, and social justice in their design and deployment. At last, while challenges remain, the integration of distributed systems holds promise for building more resilient, responsive, and inclusive governance systems that better serve the needs of citizens and society as a whole.

Abstract

Currently, there is concern from educational scholars on pre-service teachers training in equipping them with reflective skills. This study intended to assess the development of reflection skills among 3rd and 4th year BED students at Jimma University. A survey research design was employed to answer the objective of the research. 109 male and 94 female BED students across 11 departments were participated in filling out reflection questionnaires and the selection of respondents was carried out using census sampling techniques. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics to describe the student teachers' extent of reflection in the four scales whereas the t-test for comparison of the difference between gender and batch of students in the Habitual Action scale. Mann Whitney U-test to measure the groups’ sum of rank difference on Understanding, Reflection, and Critical Reflection based on gender and batch. The finding of the study indicated that the level of BED students' habitual action scale was lower and the understanding and reflection were higher. The t-test and u-test analyses disclosed that there was a statistically significant difference in habitual action scale between genders and no statistically significant difference between groups of sex and batch on understanding, reflection, and critical reflection respectively. It was concluded that the reflective skills in BED students were not uniformly and developmentally increasing among the students’ batch and sex. Therefore, it is imperative to work hard to equip BED students with reflective skills particularly critical reflection to help them lifelong learners in their teaching career.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to develop a framework for the effective functionality of LED initiatives in local governments (LGs) in Namibia (a developing country) and elsewhere globally. The effectiveness of LED initiatives represents informative and integrated understanding, intervention strategies, capital funds, and a framework aimed at MDGs and SDGs which combine environmental, economic, social, institutional, and political aspects by identifying their interlinkages in realizing the SDGs in LGs. The purpose of this study is to develop a framework for the effective functionality of LED initiatives in HNTC. The theoretical framework has been drawn out to make its research propositions within an active application framework of stakeholders theory. The study used a stakeholders theory (ST) which provides a framework for exploring the processes of effective interventions of stakeholders in a management sense, and the questionnaires, interview guide, and focus group discussions (FGDs) were designed in relation to the objectives of this study. The data was collected through mixed method research (MMR) and was analyzed by using MSE (for quantitative data) and ATLAS. ti (for qualitative data) which provided relevant analysis for the data. The framework developed in this study indicates that the LED process is dominated or influenced by both internal and external stakeholders regarding intervention strategies to ‘’deal with’’ toward sustainable measurements and minimal standards for a developed conceptual framework for LED initiative.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the conceptualization of teacher leadership in Namibia. A case study design was used within the qualitative approach. A sample of 45 participants was selected purposively from three (3) secondary schools. An interview guide, observation schedule, and document analysis were used to collect data from the participants. Data were analyzed using a thematic approach. The literature and the theoretical framework were used to compare and contrast the study findings. The findings revealed that teacher leadership can be understood in terms of involvement and participation, empowerment, motivation and influence, collaboration, and leading and influence. The study recommends that the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture should develop and promote leadership development programs for teachers to understand and practice leadership and review contemporary policies to allow for democratic leadership practices.
