Abstract

This study is related to a study of classroom discourse about delivering questions and instructions based on the cognitive domains done by senior and junior English teachers in secondary level. The study was conducted in the first grade of Senior High School which was facilitated by different English teacher,  It was revealed that all the questions and instructions delivered by both English teachers were mostly applied in the lowest level of cognitive domain (‘remembering’ and ‘understanding’) because those teachers considered the level of students because in this level, the first grade students were still needed to retrieve their memory, knowledge, and understanding of what they learned during the class time. However, those two teachers were still applied another domain. The number of cognitive domains applied were different. The senior teacher applied five of six cognitive domains while the junior teacher only applied four of six cognitive domains

Abstract

Psycho-Pass is one of the most well-known examples of dystopian anime. The story is set in 22nd century Japan, where the country is ruled by the Sibyl System. The world is portrayed to be an ideal world that is seemingly crime-free, yet the world also contained many problems that offset how ideal it seemed. In this paper, we are concerned about how Psycho-Pass can be categorized as a paradoxical world. Therefore, we aim to show the ways that the world of Psycho-Pass is indeed paradoxical by using utopia and dystopia theories. Through our analysis, we found that elements of both utopia and dystopia are present in Psycho-Pass. The world of Psycho-Pass is paradoxical in that it is ideal and faulty at the same time. Keywords: anime, paradoxical, utopia, dystopia.

Abstract

The project is about the development of a screenplay which explores the psychological problem of the main character. The creative work revolves around the traumatic experiences that result in the main character’s insecurity. The story shows how the main character, Jieun, is haunted by the pressure she used to have when she was a kid, causing her to feel insecure when she finally turns into an adult. The theory used for this creative work is Erik Erikson’s theory of Psychological Stages of Development which tells about how something that happened in the past could affect things that are happening in the present. The theory helps the writer achieve the result of the creative work, making the creative work have distinct characteristic. Because of her insecurity, Jieun fails in fulfilling her need to build a relationship. Finally, she regains her feeling of security as she goes back to and connect with her family.

Abstract

This creative thesis aims at showing the effects of stigma and discrimination on intersex individuals and how they can lessen the effects of stigma and discrimination through the medium of a screenplay titled The Other. I apply the theory of stigma as the main foundation of the creative work and the theory of self-acceptance as the resolution.  Utilizing the genre drama and the conventions of modern youth films, I employ the main character’s suffering and contentment accordingly to highlight the detrimental consequences of stigma and the psychological gain of self-acceptance. The Other follows Alexander Wijaya, then 16 years old, a boy who embarks on a self-discovery journey after discovering his intersexuality. As he faces bullying and other grievances, Alex begins to have self-doubt and feel ashamed and isolated. Later, Alex realizes his worth and retrieves back his confidence after he decides to accept his body the way it is.Keywords: Intersex, Stigma, Discrimination, Self-acceptance.

Abstract

This is a qualitative study of cognitive domains of speaking skill questions used in Interlanguage: English for Third Grade Senior High School. In this study, the writer observed the six categories of cognitive domains and the dominant order thinking skill applied in the questions on speaking skill. In order, to know the position of the student’s proficiency in the speaking skill questions used in this textbook. The data were collected from the textbook. The theory used was from Anderson and Krathwohl (2001) about Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. This study showed that there were five from six categories of the cognitive domains applied in the questions on speaking skills used in the textbook, the dominant category was ‘remembering’ because in speaking skill students need to remember what they want to say and what people said. The writer found that the questions on speaking skill in this textbook belongs to lower order thinking skill because it was important for the students to master the lower order thinking skill before they achieve the higher order thinking.

Abstract

Digitalization has been an inevitable part of human lives, and education is not an exception. Digitalization is, however, only a part of the change. While digitalization is just using digital technologies and digitized data for an impact, digital transformation is broader adoption of digital technology and cultural change. It is more about the people, rather than the technology. One of the most prominent examples is the integration of the digital culture and the school culture, creating “digital school culture”. Concerns arise from the change, especially isolation from peers and decreased effectiveness on practical lessons . In this case, the creativity to integrate digital culture in online settings to accommodate these concerns is necessary. This research attempts to find the three high schools in Tabanan’s current state of digital school culture and plan of development for the future. The data is gained through semi-impromptu interviews with three high schools’ vice-principal of curriculum and vice-principal of student affairs in Tabanan. Their answers are then analyzed through digital culture and school culture theory. Their answers will also be compared with each other to figure out the similarities and differences in their implementation of digital school culture. Keywords: digital culture, school culture, digital school culture, digital transformation, digital native, digital immigrant, Tabanan high school

Abstract

This was a qualitative study of word formation processes of Indonesian slang words in the Cosmo Girl!. To reveal the type of word formation and the most frequent type of word formation processes, the writer used two theories of word formation processes, namely word formation processes by Yule (2006) supported by Indonesian word formation processes by Chaedar (1994). The findings revealed four types of word formation processes, namely Clipping (3.22%), Blending (3.22%), Borrowing (19.35%) and Multiple Processes (74.19%). Although the Multiple Processes took a crucial part in forming Indonesian slang words, the process of borrowing dominantly occurred in the Multiple Processes. Especially English was often used in the borrowing process. Besides, the findings revealed processes that are not stated in both of the theories, namely Addition, Substitution and Deletion. These three processes were needed to adjust to Indonesian spelling system.

Abstract

This paper is about my screenplay entitled Finding Andy which I use as my final project. The screenplay itself is a story about a teenage girl who wants to improve her family’s poor communication. For my theory, I use John Gottman’s “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Model” about family conflict. The theory helps me to shape my characters’ behavior towards each others. Since my characters has better relationship even though the brother dies in the end, I tend to use the worst level of family conflict in the beginning of the story and it gradually changes into successful communication which leads to good relationship. The theory helps me to give example of family’s poor communication to the audiences. I also do an observation on some families with poor communications and Rangkah Rejo neighborhood in Eastern Surabaya to build the setting’s circumstances. From this creative work, I expect that it is made into films, like what screenplay is for, so that the audiences realize that this kind of family exists.
