Abstract

Although ethnomathematics has been widely examined in previous research, studies that specifically integrate the traditional food getuk as a concrete medium in the development of Canva-based student worksheets (LKPD) for teaching fraction addition remain very limited. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Canva-based LKPD incorporating ethnomathematical representations of getuk in improving students’ ability to solve word problems involving fraction addition. A quantitative approach was employed using a 4-D Research and Development (R&D) design, involving 25 fifth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, expert validation, and formative tests, and were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and descriptive statistics. The results indicate that the developed LKPD falls into the “highly valid” category in terms of language, content, and visual design, and is effective in improving student learning outcomes, as evidenced by a Z value of –4.548 with p < 0.001. These findings reinforce constructivist and ethnomathematical theory by demonstrating that concrete experiences grounded in local cultural practices can facilitate deeper understanding of fraction concepts. The study concludes by underscoring the importance of integrating local cultural media into the development of contextual teaching materials, recommending the use of getuk as a concrete medium in fraction instruction, and opening avenues for further research employing stronger experimental designs and larger sample sizes.

Abstract

This study addresses the complex challenges confronting contemporary Islamic education in Indonesia, including a values crisis, social polarization, and rapid technological change, which collectively underscore the need to reconstruct its educational paradigm on robust philosophical foundations. The study aims to explore the educational philosophies of Ahmad Dahlan and Hasyim Asy'ari, analyze the dialectic between modernity and traditionalism embedded in their epistemological frameworks, and evaluate the relevance of this dialectic for advancing contemporary Islamic education. Employing a library research methodology, the study conducts a comparative–reflective analysis of primary sources, such as Ahmad Dahlan’s speeches and treatises and Hasyim Asy'ari’s Adab al-'Alim wa al-Muta'allim—together with pertinent secondary literature. The findings reveal that Ahmad Dahlan’s thought prioritizes the integration of scientific knowledge, rational inquiry, and curriculum reform, whereas Hasyim Asy'ari emphasizes ethics, spirituality, and the preservation of tradition grounded in the principle of al-muhafadzah. Despite these differing emphases, their philosophies converge on the goal of cultivating individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and practically engaged in social transformation. The study concludes that the dialectic between their views constitutes not a binary opposition but a productive epistemological synthesis that fosters an integrative, moderate, and transformative model of Islamic education. This synthesis provides a philosophical foundation for reconstructing an educational paradigm that balances ethical–spiritual depth with the critical and creative competencies required to navigate the digital and pluralistic challenges of the twenty-first century.

Abstract

Although the intellectual works of the Muslim thinker Ibn Rushd have attracted considerable scholarly attention, studies that specifically examine his metaphysical concepts and their contribution to Islamic thought in the East and the West remain limited. This study aims to analyze Ibn Rushd’s concept of metaphysics, particularly the relationship between reason and revelation, and its influence on the development of philosophical thought in the Western world. The research employed library study (library research) with a qualitative-descriptive approach through analysis of Ibn Rushd’s primary texts and relevant secondary literature. The findings show that Ibn Rushd’s ideas affirm the central role of reason in understanding existence, strengthen the tradition of critical thinking, and constitute one of the foundations for the development of scholastic philosophy and rationalism in Europe. The study concludes that Ibn Rushd’s metaphysical thought is not only significant within the context of Islamic philosophy, but also functions as an intellectual bridge between Islamic and Western traditions of thought, helping to pave the way for the intellectual renaissance in Europe. The implications of this research include a theoretical contribution to enriching the literature on metaphysics, as well as practical implications for readers in deepening their understanding and application of metaphysical principles in life, while also opening opportunities for further exploration of the importance of accepting and developing rational ideas in contemporary Islamic philosophical studies.

Abstract

Children’s character development today faces challenges due to social changes and technological advances that have contributed to the weakening of the values of discipline, responsibility, and religiosity. This study aimed to analyze the role of homeschooling in strengthening children’s character based on the perspective of Islamic Education. This study used a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach through a review of various relevant literature, including books, journals, and scientific articles. Data were collected through documentation study and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results showed that homeschooling in Islamic Education plays an important role in shaping children’s character through an integrated family environment. The dominant characters formed include being religious, independent, disciplined, honest, responsible, caring, and courteous. The process of strengthening character takes place through learning flexibility, habituation to worship, parental role modeling, family interaction, and consistent supervision. These findings confirm that homeschooling functions not only as an alternative form of education but also as a strategic means of strengthening children’s character based on Islamic values. The implications of this study indicate that parents have a central role as educators as well as the primary character builders of children within the family environment.

Abstract

The issue of children’s low learning interest in poor communities has received attention in various previous studies, but research specifically discussing the social construction of learning interest in the context of interactions among economic, family, and social environmental factors remains limited. This study aimed to explore in depth the construction of children’s learning interest in poor communities in Losari Village. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 15 participants consisting of school-age children, parents, and teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and literature studies, and then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results showed that children’s learning interest was significantly influenced by family economic conditions, which encouraged children to prioritize economic activities over formal education. In addition, low parental support, limited learning assistance, and negative perceptions of the benefits of education further reinforced low learning interest. Social environmental factors also played an important role in shaping children’s mindsets, particularly through peer influence and community norms that did not fully support educational continuity. These findings indicate that learning interest is a social construction formed through the interaction of structural and cultural factors, rather than merely an individual factor. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of interventions that are not only economic but also social and cultural through strengthening the role of families and communities. The implications of this study are relevant for policymakers and educational institutions in designing strategies to increase educational participation that are systematic, contextual, and sustainable.

Abstract

Although cooperative learning models have been widely studied, research specifically addressing the improvement of learning engagement through the integration of Kahoot in the topic “Norms in My Life” at the elementary school level remains limited. This study aims to analyze and describe the improvement of fifth-grade students’ learning engagement through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model assisted by Kahoot. This study used a qualitative approach with a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, involving 34 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation sheets, learning engagement questionnaires, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the qualitative descriptive analysis technique of the interactive model of Huberman and Saldana. The results showed that the implementation of the Kahoot-assisted TGT model was able to change students’ learning behavior from passive to more proactive, with learning engagement increasing from the low category at the beginning of the cycle to 83.54%, or the high category, at the end of Cycle II. This improvement was supported by the teacher’s instructional effectiveness, which reached 94.44%. These findings contribute to the development of digital cooperative learning and broaden understanding of the use of gamification in Pancasila Education content. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of synergy between competitive games and digital technology in creating a dynamic learning ecosystem, and recommends optimizing digital instructional time management in its implementation. The implications of this study include strengthening the literature on digital cooperative learning and the practice of implementing the activity-based Independent Curriculum, while also opening opportunities for further studies on the long-term impact of gamification on students’ retention of normative values.

Abstract

Although the analysis of exercises in Arabic language textbooks has received attention in several previous studies, research specifically examining the exercises in the book Mukhtarat Qawa’id al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah remains limited. This study aims to analyze the exercises in the book and identify their cognitive levels based on the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. This study used a qualitative approach with a content analysis design, involving all exercises in the nahwu and sharaf sections, totaling 103 exercises. Data were collected through an analytical instrument based on operational verbs referring to cognitive levels and were analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques through frequency and percentage calculations. The results showed that the exercises were dominated by low to moderate cognitive levels. The levels of remembering (C1) and understanding (C2) occupied the highest positions, each with a percentage of 34%, followed by applying (C3) at 19% and analyzing (C4) at 13%. Meanwhile, the levels of evaluating (C5) and creating (C6) were not found. In addition, the sharaf section only covered the levels of understanding and applying, whereas the nahwu section covered four cognitive levels. These findings contribute to the development of Bloom’s Taxonomy theory in the context of Arabic language learning and broaden understanding of the characteristics of exercises in textbooks. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of developing exercises that include higher-order thinking skills. Therefore, the authors suggest that curriculum developers and educators design more varied exercises, including those at the levels of analysis, evaluation, and creation. The implications of this study include a theoretical contribution to enriching content analysis studies of Arabic language textbooks, as well as practical implications for educational institutions in improving the quality of learning. This study also opens opportunities for further research that examines the effect of exercises on language proficiency in a more applied manner.

Abstract

Fiqh learning requires an innovative and student-centered approach so that the learning process becomes more active, engaging, and easier to understand. One approach that can be used is Game-Based Learning, namely electronic or digital game-based learning designed to support the achievement of learning objectives. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Game-Based Learning method on increasing students’ interest and learning outcomes in the Fiqh subject at MA Mambaul Ulum Megaluh Jombang. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-test–post-test design. The research subjects consisted of 37 Grade XI students who participated in Fiqh learning on the topics of marriage and divorce. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and tests, and were then analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and paired t-test to determine the significant effect. The results showed that the implementation of the Game-Based Learning method had a significant effect on increasing students’ learning interest, with a significance value of 0.01 < 0.05. Students became more active, enthusiastic, and better able to understand the material after participating in game-based learning. The conclusion of this study affirms that the Game-Based Learning method is effective and feasible to use as an innovative learning alternative in increasing students’ learning interest in the Fiqh subject. These findings provide practical implications for Fiqh teachers in designing learning that is more interactive, participatory, and aligned with students’ learning needs.

Abstract

Amid the ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity of Tajau Pecah Village, Batu Ampar Subdistrict, Tanah Laut Regency, conventional forms of dakwah potentially face challenges in fostering religious moderation. This study aimed to analyze the forms of cultural dakwah practiced in Tajau Pecah Village and to explain how the values of religious moderation are integrated into local cultural traditions. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observations and interviews with the residents of Tajau Pecah Village and subsequently analyzed thematically. The findings show that cultural dakwah is manifested through the traditions of Baaruahan, Batapung Tawar, Brokohan, and Sepasaran, which effectively internalize the values of religious moderation, such as tolerance, openness to dialogue, and respect for differences. These results affirm that cultural dakwah grounded in local wisdom plays a crucial role in strengthening social harmony and community unity, and contributes to the designation of Tajau Pecah Village as a Kampung Moderasi Beragama (Religious Moderation Village). The implications of this study highlight the need to strengthen and replicate cultural dakwah models based on local traditions as a strategy for developing religious moderation in other multicultural areas.

Abstract

Grounded in the Qur’anic perspective, particularly QS. al-Hajj:39, this study examines military strength as a kifā’iyah obligation for Muslim rulers to uphold justice and combat oppression, including territorial colonization and the exploitation of natural resources for the benefit of specific groups. The research aims to elucidate the Qur’anic foundations of this obligation, clarify its implications for individual Muslims’ duty to maintain physical health as preparation for jihad fi sabilillah—as reflected in hadith stating that death without the intent to fight for truth constitutes a “death of jahiliyyah”—and analyze its contemporary relevance for Indonesia’s struggle for genuine sovereignty. Employing a thematic exegesis of relevant Qur’anic verses alongside historical analysis, the study traces Indonesia’s experience of colonialism, highlighting President Sukarno’s call to Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) scholars, Acehnese communities, and the broader Muslim population to defend the newly proclaimed independence through jihad fi sabilillah against colonial powers. The findings indicate that, in a Qur’anic framework, colonization encompasses territorial, economic, physical, and intellectual forms of injustice imposed on a nation and its people, and that the continued dominance of non-indigenous actors in managing Indonesia’s natural resources constitutes a form of contemporary colonization requiring liberation. The study further identifies three Qur’anic pillars of true national independence: impartial justice, equitable public welfare, and freedom with professional protection for adherents of recognized religions to practice their faith without discrimination. The research concludes that aligning national structures with these Qur’anic standards necessitates urgent policy reforms aimed at realizing substantive justice, fair resource governance, and comprehensive sovereignty.
