Abstract

The increasing water pollution caused by domestic and industrial activities demands an efficient, real-time, and accurate water quality monitoring system. This study aims to design and develop a Smart Water Quality Measurement System based on the Internet of Things (IoT), capable of automatically monitoring pH, temperature, conductivity, and turbidity parameters, while transmitting the data to a server and website in real-time. The research employed an engineering approach using the Waterfall model, encompassing requirement analysis, system design, hardware and software implementation, testing, and evaluation. The system integrates digital pH sensor SEN-0131, temperature sensor DS18B20, conductivity sensor SEN-0171, and turbidity sensor SEN-0175 with the ESP32 microcontroller. Measurement data are displayed via the DSP-0004 LCD and transmitted to a MySQL database, which is then visualized through a PHP-based web interface. Testing was conducted on each sensor and the system as a whole. The results indicate that all sensors operated within acceptable accuracy tolerances, and the system consistently transmitted data over a three-hour testing period without interruption. The web interface also functioned responsively across various devices. The study concludes that the system successfully fulfills the requirements for efficient and real-time water quality monitoring. The implications highlight the significant potential of IoT technology in environmental management, with further development recommended, including the integration of additional sensors and automated notification features to enhance system functionality.

Abstract

The woven fabric from South Central Timor (TTS), East Nusa Tenggara Province, holds significant cultural and symbolic value; however, the influx of similar-patterned fabrics from outside the region presents challenges in authenticity identification, particularly among the general public and younger generations. This study aims to develop a mobile application based on the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) to detect and classify motifs of TTS woven fabric. Texture feature extraction was conducted using the Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) method, applying six key parameters: contrast, dissimilarity, homogeneity, energy, correlation, and ASM. The ANFIS model was trained for two types of classification: fabric authenticity (authentic vs. non-authentic), achieving an average accuracy of 87.50%, and regional motif classification (Amanatun, Amanuban, and Mollo), with an accuracy of 78.00%. The application was developed using a prototyping method and integrated with the classification system via FastAPI services. Black-box testing confirmed that all application features functioned as designed, while usability testing using the Usability Metric for User Experience (UMUX) yielded a score of 87.92, indicating a high level of user comfort and ease of use. The study concludes that the ANFIS-based mobile application is effective as a supporting tool in preserving TTS woven fabric through the application of intelligent technology. Abstract

Textile dye waste such as Methylene Blue is a hazardous pollutant that is difficult to degrade, thus requiring environmentally friendly treatment solutions. This study aims to utilize langsat peel waste (Lansium domesticum) modified with the cationic surfactant Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide (CTAB) as a low-cost biosorbent for the removal of Methylene Blue, with a focus on improving adsorption capacity and examining the effects of process variables, namely pH and stirring speed. The langsat peel was prepared, ground to a particle size of 150 µm, and modified with CTAB. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted by varying the pH (2–10) and stirring speed (100–300 rpm). The concentration of Methylene Blue was analyzed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the optimal adsorption occurred at pH 6 with a capacity of 5.57 mg/g, while the optimal stirring speed was 200 rpm, yielding the highest adsorption capacity of 17.9 mg/g. These findings demonstrate that CTAB-modified langsat peel significantly enhances its effectiveness as a potential biosorbent for the remediation of Methylene Blue-containing wastewater.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the high incidence of foodborne diseases, which are infectious and toxic illnesses caused by pathogens entering the body through food. Food serves as an easy medium for disease transmission because it can carry pathogenic microorganisms to parts of the body vulnerable to infection. The research aims to identify pathogenic microorganisms causing foodborne diseases and the symptoms they produce in the community of Cigugur Tengah District. A mixed methods approach was used, combining field studies through observation, interviews, and documentation with literature review from various scientific publications. The findings indicate that foodborne diseases can be caused by infection from microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites, as well as by intoxication. The pathogenic microorganisms identified include Salmonella spp., Clostridium spp., Campylobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Yersinia spp., Toxoplasma gondii, and others. Common symptoms experienced by the community include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, and digestive disorders. The study also reveals that low public awareness of food sanitation and unhygienic food processing practices are dominant factors in the spread of this disease. This research contributes to raising public awareness and formulating more targeted health policies, particularly in food safety and the prevention of foodborne diseases.
