Abstract

Although primary school students’ understanding of mathematical concepts has been extensively studied, research on the effectiveness of contextual mathematics instruction supported by concrete materials in local primary school contexts remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of contextual mathematics instruction supported by concrete materials in improving students’ understanding of mathematical concepts at SDN 49 Kota Parepare. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving 30 fifth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a test of mathematical conceptual understanding, observation sheets, and documentation, and then analyzed using descriptive statistics, normalized gain scores (N-gain), and a paired-samples t test. The results showed improved understanding of mathematical concepts following the implementation of the instruction, with a mean pretest score of 58.40 and a mean posttest score of 82.70. The N-gain score of 0.58 fell within the moderate category, while the paired-samples t test indicated a significant difference between scores before and after the instruction (t = 8.214; p < 0.001). These findings support the potential of a contextual approach supported by concrete materials to develop students’ understanding of mathematical concepts in the context studied and enrich research on constructivist mathematics instruction. In practical terms, the findings can serve as a reference for teachers and educational institutions in designing active, contextual, and student-centered mathematics instruction. Future research could examine the integration of contextual approaches with digital media to support the development of primary school students’ mathematical abilities.

Abstract

Although primary school students’ mathematical problem-solving skills have been extensively studied, research on the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in local primary school contexts remains limited. This study aims to analyze the implementation of PBL in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills at SDN 30 Bonto Perak, Pangkep Regency. The study employed a mixed methods approach with a classroom action research design involving 28 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a test of mathematical problem-solving skills, observation sheets, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results showed improvements in students’ ability to identify problems, develop solution strategies, apply mathematical procedures, and evaluate solution outcomes. The mean problem-solving score increased from 60.25 in cycle I to 84.10 in cycle II, with an N-gain score of 0.60, which fell within the moderate category. These findings indicate that implementing PBL supports the development of mathematical problem-solving skills in the classroom context studied and enriches research on active learning and problem-based mathematics pedagogy in primary schools. In practical terms, the findings can serve as a reference for teachers and educational institutions in designing learning environments oriented toward problem solving. Future research could examine the integration of PBL with collaborative learning and technology use to support the development of primary school students’ mathematical abilities.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, prompting the development of new candidate therapeutic agents. Coumarin derivatives have potential anticancer activity, but their pharmacokinetic characteristics, toxicity, and binding affinity for the target receptor require evaluation. This study aims to evaluate the suitability of 11 coumarin derivatives as candidate anticancer agents based on Lipinski’s Rule of Five, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET) profiles, and binding affinities predicted through molecular docking. The study was conducted in silico through compound screening, docking method validation, and analysis of interactions with the target receptor. Validation by redocking the native ligand to the 3ERT receptor structure yielded an RMSD value of 0.696 Å, supporting the method’s ability to reproduce the native ligand’s binding pose. Of the 11 compounds evaluated, 6 passed screening and underwent further analysis through molecular docking. The analysis showed that suberosin had the best predicted binding affinity among the compounds that passed screening, with an estimated binding free energy (ΔG) of −6.3707 kcal/mol and a predicted inhibition constant (Kᵢ) of 21.4175 μM. Based on the screening and molecular docking results, suberosin is the most promising coumarin derivative candidate among the compounds analyzed. These findings provide a computational basis for prioritizing suberosin for in vitro and in vivo testing as a candidate anticancer agent.

Abstract

Communicating information through a corporate website requires coherence among its information structure, navigation, visual presentation, and corporate identity. This study aimed to describe the development and implementation of the PT PDPDE Hilir website interface as a medium for corporate information. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through direct observation of the existing website, documentation of pages and interface structure, and discussions with the field supervisor and relevant parties. The development process included identifying information and interface requirements, designing a prototype using Figma, and implementing the design using HTML and CSS through Visual Studio Code. The development results showed the organization of the navigation structure, corporate information, content grouping, page layout, and interface appearance. The website structure comprises the main sections Home, About Us, Services, Media & Information, and Contact, along with the Latest News and Activity Gallery submenus, which were implemented as separate pages. This development integrated information organization, interface design, and technical implementation to produce a more structured medium for corporate information while preserving PT PDPDE Hilir’s visual identity. The practical contribution of this study is an account of the interface development process that can serve as a reference for developing websites for similar companies.

Abstract

Beef mercon is a processed food made from meat and spicy seasonings whose ingredients and production stages may pose chemical hazards, while micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the food sector often face resource constraints in controlling risks systematically. This study aimed to map potential chemical hazards throughout the generic production process for beef mercon and formulate preventive measures based on the principles of Cara Produksi Pangan Olahan yang Baik (CPPOB). The study used a descriptive literature review design, drawing on food safety regulations, CPPOB and Codex guidelines, and scientific articles on pesticide residues, toxic metals, food additives, oil oxidation, cleaning agent residues, and migration from packaging. Sources were purposively selected based on their relevance to the product, hazard pathways, control measures, and analytical verification. Data were extracted into a hazard mapping matrix and analyzed qualitatively by linking hazard sources, mechanisms of contaminant entry or formation, preventive measures, and verification evidence in the literature. The mapping identified six main hazard groups: pesticide residues; toxic metals and veterinary drug residues; food additive nonconformities; oil oxidation products; migrants from packaging; and cleaning agent residues. The main control areas included suppliers and raw materials, water and equipment, formulation standardization, heating and oil, sanitation, packaging, and storage. The mapped hazards are potential and do not constitute evidence of actual product contamination. This review provides a mapping framework that can support risk-based CPPOB evaluation and the prioritization of laboratory verification in MSEs in the food sector.
