Abstract

Society follows the progress of the times marked by rapid advancements in media technology, economy, and information. However, these advancements have led modern society to face lifestyles and ways of thinking that ultimately harm society itself. The aim of this research is to find solutions for modern society, which has become engulfed in confusion, through the approaches of Sufism and philosophy. Using a qualitative literature review method, the author focuses on Al-Ghazali's Sufi theory and Herbert Marcuse's philosophical theory. This focus allows for an in-depth analysis of both figures and their thoughts. In addressing problems faced by modern society such as materialism, consumerism, and individualism, Al-Ghazali, with his ethical Sufi theory, offers qualities like asceticism (zuhud), contentment (qona’ah), and brotherhood (ukhuwwah). Similarly, Herbert Marcuse proposes various solutions such as restoring critical consciousness, enlightenment, and cultural movements. In an era of limitless technological advancement and information reception, the implementation of these solutions becomes increasingly important and necessary for modern society.

Abstract

Soren Kierkegaard stated that in order to know the truth, individuals in the masses must experience God personally or experience and realize subjective experiences, not just practical theoretical ones based on the encouragement of the masses. This research aims to determine Kierkegaard's perspective regarding being an authentic individual, even though he is among the masses, in this case using qualitative methods with a library research approach. The data in this research is descriptive, based on the collection of literature studies. The results of this research are that, just as mass phenomena cannot be avoided, they can be responded to properly so as not to be carried away by mass currents. 1) Mass currents are a manifestation of individuals who fail to touch the relationships of their subjective experiences, 2) Being authentic is harmony between actions and subjective relationships of individuals, 3) Appreciation of subjective relationships that are based on God will help to avoid various falsehoods and lead to the truth true.

Abstract

This article aims to study the concept and understanding of Ende traditional marriage traditions that have been carried out since their ancestors until today. Apart from that, the author tries to make a comparison between the existence of women in the Ende traditional marriage tradition and the understanding of the concept of Dasein put forward by Martin Heidegger. In this paper, the author uses the observation method, interview method, and also the literature analysis method. Apart from that, the theories used by the author are always based on the thought concepts of Martin Heidegger. This article should examine or talk in more detail about the concepts of marriage in Ende society and also the concepts of Heidegger's thinking about Dasein as a way of being in the world and involving oneself in being actively involved, living and working in the world. The existence of women in this paper is greatly influenced by cultural factors such as belis or dowry, which can then determine the existence and way of being in a man's family. Therefore, the author examines in more detail and detail in this article the concept of Dasein and women's way of being in the middle of the world or "In-der-Welt-sein". Therefore, the presence of women is seen as an embodiment of the concept of Dasein which is "Being-in" the world and is actively involved with the world itself. The presence of women is not just "there", but "there" (living together) and actively involved in life in the world.

This deepening effort is based on the phenomenon of a shift in the meaning of belis that has an impact on the fracture of their relationship. In response to this phenomenon, the author introduces the philosophical concept of go’et Toe salang tuak-wae teku tedengas an effort to clarify the perspective on the meaning of belis among the Manggarai people. Abstract

This article discusses the comparison of two ancient philosophies, Yoga and Stoicism, in terms of how these two defines happiness and offers a guide to achieving it. Yoga, originally from India, focuses on the unification of body, mind, and soul through sadhana aṣṭāṅgayoga. Stoicism, originating in Greece, emphasizes the importance of virtue and self-control in achieving inner peace. Although different in origin and approach, these two philosophies have much in common in terms of purpose. Both Yoga and Stoicism offer a path to happiness that does not depend on external circumstances, but on internal changes in the way we think, say and act. This article compares and analyzes key concepts in both philosophies, such as virtue, self-control, and inner peace. Through this research, it shows that the philosophy of Yoga and Stoicism can offer useful strategies for individuals seeking happiness and meaning in life. This research uses qualitative methods with library-based research.

Abstract

Individual resilience is the ability possessed by someone to be able to recover and manage their emotions from the life problems they face. Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is a psychological problem often experienced by social media users, in the form of anxiety due to missing trends, information, moments of other people's lives or other things outside themselves. Individuals with good self-resilience will be better able to overcome FoMO. There are various factors that influence individual resilience, for example, external factors can be in the form of cultural, religious or philosophical values embraced by the individual concerned. In this article, the author is interested in offering a view of Aristotle's teleological ethics in relation to the formation of individual resilience to FoMO. This research uses a phenomenological approach and elements of the philosophical method, namely: interpretation, critical reflection, holistic and descriptive. The results obtained show that Aristotle's teleological ethics emphasizes that humans as rational beings are fully responsible for their own lives, namely to actualize all the potential they have to act in harmony with moral virtues and solely for the sake of achieving the ultimate goal of happiness. Thus, there is no reason for individuals to worry about things outside themselves and ignore their own potential and goals.

Abstract

In this day and age of instant gratification, many people weigh a decision by the value of enjoyment. Obviously, this kind of judgment is very superficial and artificial. Judgment should be based on noble values. In his hierarchy of values theory, Max Scheler suggests that there are four hierarchies of values, namely the value of pleasure, the value of life or vitality, spiritual value, and the value of holiness. The lowest hierarchy is pleasure value and the highest is holiness value. This value must exist in life, as it is the meaning behind actions. This can be seen in “the parable of the Prodigal Son” (Lk 15:11-24) told by Jesus to the tax collectors and sinners. There is a hierarchy of values revealed in the characterizations and inner journeys of the characters. By exploring the text of Luke 15:11-24 and juxtaposing it with Max Scheler's hierarchy of values theory, the author hopes to help everyone in this instant age to consider things more from the most noble values. There are two methods used in writing this text, namely literature study and hermeneutics. This method is expected to help the author in analyzing and interpreting the text in detail and holistically. Broadly speaking, the author found that the character of the Youngest Child experienced an increase in the appreciation of values, starting from the value of pleasure, to spiritual values. The text closes with the appreciation of the value of holiness by the Father. In other words, this text provides a complete appreciation of values from Max Scheler's hierarchy of values.

Abstract

The analysis of hermeneutics has been a subject of great interest and research among scholars, who have documented their findings in numerous books and scientific journals. In this article, the author endeavors to provide a deeper insight into hermeneutics as a tool and approach for examining the past. The ideas of prominent philosophers from the 19th and 20th centuries have contributed significantly to advancing historical research, particularly in comprehending past human activities and behaviors. Several renowned philosophers, including Dilthey, Gadamer, and Collingwood, have provided invaluable insights into interpreting and explaining history based on existing textual sources. This literature-based study seeks to explore the perspectives and discussions of these philosophers on the hermeneutic approach to interpreting history.
