Abstract

This research was motivated by subject teachers, especially biology, not using higher order thinking skills learning models and resulting in students being less motivated to learn. This research aims to determine the effect of the HOTS learning model on students' critical thinking abilities on the human digestive system material in class X SMA Negeri 2 Hilimegai. The type of research is quantitative, descriptive in nature. The research population was class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Hilimegai, while the research sample was class This research data was analyzed using the normality test and hypothesis testing using the SPSS version 20 application. The results of this research were that the sig. sig.(2-tailed) is 0.042 < 0.05, it is known that t count is 2.48689 > t table 2.25183 for the use of the higher order thinking skills learning model, it is concluded that the data is normally distributed so that students have an interest in participating in learning activities through the higher order learning model order thinking skills. Suggestions for teachers, it is best to use higher order thinking skills learning models with different variations and for future researchers it is best to carry out this research with a wider scope.

Abstract

Kajian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keunggulan spesialis dalam karya seni yang mendobrak cara humanistik dalam menangani tulisan dalam Luka asli karya Fanny J. Poyk, yang menampilkan berbagai gambaran sosial masyarakat dan mencerminkan secara lugas berbagai bagian konstruksi sosial, termasuk hubungan kekeluargaan, budaya, dan perjuangan. Novel ini disajikan dengan bahasa yang lugas bagi pembacanya, sehingga mereka akan tertarik untuk memahaminya. Tujuan eksplorasi sesuai subfokus pemeriksaan adalah untuk menggambarkan tulisan sebagai kesan masyarakat (koneksi, budaya, dan perjuangan atau perlawanan) dalam Luka Pintar karya Fanny J. Poyk. Teknik yang digunakan dalam eksplorasi ini adalah strategi pemeriksaan subyektif dengan metodologi yang jelas. Berdasarkan informasi yang diperkenalkan, ada tiga jenis tulisan sebagai kesan masyarakat dalam Luka Pintar, yaitu: kekeluargaan, sosial, dan perjuangan atau perlawanan. Jumlah mutlak pernyataan penelitian keluarga adalah 8; budaya memiliki 5; dan perjuangan atau konflik memiliki 5 pernyataan. Jumlah agregat informasi pemeriksaan adalah 18 kutipan. Oleh karena itu, para ahli percaya bahwa hasil dari penemuan-penemuan tersebut dapat memberikan manfaat bagi: (1) bagi mahasiswa, mendapatkan inspirasi dalam karya ilmiah dan dapat dijadikan sebagai suatu metode untuk mengetahui dan memahami metodologi-metodologi humanistik yang terkandung dalam penelitian ini. Luka pintar oleh Fanny J. Poyk. (2) Pakar berikut ini, yang akan mengarahkan kajian serupa mengenai humanisme, sebaiknya lebih memusatkan perhatian pada isu-isu penelitian dalam menentukan gagasan ilmu sosial penulisan dan sebaiknya memimpin eksplorasi yang lebih top-to-bottom dengan membaca lebih banyak buku tentang humanisme. menulis dengan tujuan agar tidak kesulitan dalam menguraikan informasi. (3) Bagi pembaca dapat menjadi alasan bahan referensi penelitian yang berkaitan dengan cara humanis dalam menangani tulisan.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the use of social media in developing national insight in the younger generation at the teenage level at BNKP Telukdalam Christian Private Middle School for the 2023/2024 academic year. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The research results show that; 1) Social media is used to obtain information either directly or indirectly, talk via virtual or network, support success in learning, convey and receive messages, and 2) the development of national insight through the use of social media is to raise students' awareness to have a nationalist spirit, obey school rules and respect each other, students know the values ​​of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika as well as the importance of the interests and safety of the nation above personal or group interests, are aware of their duties as the next generation of the Indonesian nation, understand the importance of togetherness in achieving goals national level through serious learning, appreciating the services of heroes through participation in flag-raising ceremonies, realizing the importance of unity and integrity and understanding nationalism and patriotism. The suggestions put forward by researchers are: 1) Pancasila and citizenship education subject teachers should remind and instill the values ​​of national insight in students in every learning activity in class, 2) Students should use social media as well as possible in order to develop national insight in themselves. , and 3) Future researchers should be able to carry out more in-depth studies that are broadly relevant to this research.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the students’ mistakes and the factors cause of students’ mistakes in using language features in explanation text. This research used the qualitative research with descriptive approach. The data in this research were the language features and the statements related with the factors causes of the students’ mistakes in using language features in within a explanation text. the source of data in this research were obtained from the exposition text as students’ worksheet and the results of interview to the teacher and students. Then, the data analysis techniques were used in this research, by using data reduction, data display and drawing conclusion/verification. Based on the research finding, the eighth grade of Negeri 4 Somambawa had the mistakes in using the language features in explanation text. The students’ mistakes themselves were the using of pronoun, conjunction dan noun. The students’ mistake in using pronoun was students not be able to use pronoun appropriate with the subject in the sentences. Then, students’ mistake in using conjunction was, students not be able to connect the clauses, sentences and paragraphs in the explanation text. And, the students’ mistake in using noun was, students not be able to use noun appropriate with the situations in the sentence itself. The students’ mistakes themselves caused by the less of students’ motivation and interesting to study so the learning material is conveying by the teacher cannot be comprehended by the students. As suggestions, the results of this research expected can be as the considering for the teacher to improve the learning process quality in Indoenesia language subject, especially in explanation text material in the eighth grade. And, for the students, expected to improve the motivation in learning and the knowledge about the language features are used in the explanation text.

Abstract

This research aims to produce teaching materials in the form of modules on the human inhalation system that are valid, useful and efficient. In this research a 4-D model was developed, namely definition, design, development and distribution. Research and development is the research methodology used in this research. The results of the student survey showed that the human respiratory system module tested was very useful, practical and valid. The average number of the four variables in the third validator module testing results is 91.35 which is a quite valid value. The findings of the teacher practicality module show that the very practical category has an average score of 96.65. The student motivation questionnaire produced very positive findings with a score of 92.83%. Student learning outcomes in the cognitive area showed very good results with an average score of 84.25, and the teacher effectiveness test obtained a score of 87.5. Therefore, the construction of a human respiratory system module can be considered valid, useful, and helpful in supporting student learning outcomes based on the results achieved. Based on the findings of this research, it is recommended that (1) science subject teachers be allowed to use learning modules as learning resources in their classes.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out how the inquiry learning method works, student activities after using the inquiry learning method, student learning motivation, and what the learning outcomes of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Aramo are. This type of research is qualitative research. Data collection techniques are observation and interviews accompanied by taking photos as evidence of existing research results. The results of the research show that class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Aramo in inquiry learning play the role of seeking and finding their own answers to a problem given by the teacher. Student activities in the inquiry learning process are: carrying out orientation activities, problem formulating activities, hypothesis formulating activities, data collecting activities, and conclusion formulating activities. The learning motivation of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Aramo is to achieve learning goals and to gain new experiences through the learning process. Learning outcomes are the abilities of students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Aramo obtained after learning activities. The results of the analysis obtained by researchers when conducting research in the field were the grades of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Aramo with an average score of 87% (standard). It can be concluded that the science subject teacher in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Aramo has implemented the inquiry learning method during the learning process. Suggestions (1) For science-biology subject teachers in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Aramo, the current performance is very good and the hope is that in the future it will be even better. (2) For students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Aramo, by paying attention and adapting their learning style to the methods applied by the teacher, they can improve good learning outcomes, they can also be good listeners to gain more knowledge, both within the school environment. and outside of school, and gain achievements and success in their achievements. (3) For other researchers, this research can be used as a reference for researchers who will conduct similar research, so that the research results can be more complete and accurate.

Abstract

Abstract

This research designed in descriptive qualitative research by using pragmatics approach. The aims of the research were to find out the types and meaning of each utterance which contains illocutionary act in Nick Vujicic speech “Overcoming hopelessness”. The researcher used Miles and Hubberman theory in analysing the data. The researcher focused to analyse the illocutionary aspect of the utterance, which divided in five types, declarations, representatives, expressives, directives, and commissives. Based on the analysis, the researcher found that there are only four types of illocutionary act in Nict Vujicic speech “Overcoming hopelessness” and the meaning of each utterance is always based on the context where the utterance spoken. Therefore, this research expect to be useful for teacher and student as the source information to give knowledge about illocutionary act in practical used especially teaching and learning activity.

Abstract

The background of the problem in this study is that there are several writing errors, including errors in writing citations. The purpose of this study is to describe the misquotation in the 2022 student thesis of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Nias Raya. This type of research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The results of the study found that there were 2 citation errors in writing a thesis, namely direct citation errors as many as 8 errors that did not put quotation marks on sentences. And indirect quoting errors for students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Nias Raya as many as 7 errors that do not give signs in parentheses and space 1 (one). Through this research it is recommended to; Students to increase curiosity about Indonesian learning because it is related to everyday life. Lecturers to always remind, provide motivation, and direction to students to study seriously so that they are able to use good and correct quotes, both orally and in writing; 3) Nias Raya University library so that it can facilitate students to be able to study optimally.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine and describe the short story writing abilities of class IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Amandraya for the 2023/2024 academic year. This type of research is descriptive using a quantitative approach. The research instrument was the population's ability to write short stories and the research sample was 31 class IX students. The results of the research show that the short story writing ability of class IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Amandraya has an average score of 62.90 and is included in category D (Poor). Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the ability to write short stories of class IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Amandraya varies greatly, there are those who are able to write short stories well and there are still those who are not able to write short stories well based on the assessment criteria for short story writing. Suggestions 1) Students should practice writing more both at school and outside of school, so that students' writing skills become better. 2) Teachers should improve learning regarding short story writing skills based on the building blocks of short stories. 3) For researchers as input in increasing knowledge and insight regarding the ability to write short stories and as a provision for the future when becoming a teacher. 4) For future researchers as input and comparison material in conducting research related to writing ability, especially the ability to write short stories.
