Abstract

This research was carried out to investigate the students’ anxiety in learning English at the tenth grade TKJ of SMK Negeri 2 Siduaori. The objectives of this research were to find out the types of students’ anxiety in learning English at the tenth grade TKJ of SMK Negeri 2 Siduaori and to explain the factors contributing to the students’ anxiety in leraning English to tenth grade TKJ of SMK Negeri 2 Siduaori. This research was a qualitative research design and the data were obtained through the classroom observation and interviews. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman’ theory such as data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing and verification. The result of this study showed that the students at the tenth grade TKJ of SMK Negeri 2 Siduaori were experienced the anxiety in learning English. There were two types of anxiety experienced by the students such as state anxiety and trait anxiety. The factors that contribute to the students’ anxiety in learning English such as speaking in front of the class, being called by the teacher, incomprehensible input or unclear explanation, being ridiculed by peers/classmates, inappropriate teaching method, low self-esteem, lack of preparation, students’ beliefs about learning English, English is excessive, and stressful learning experience. The researcher figured out that the sources of these factors do not only come from the teacher but also from the students. Thus, it is extremely important to increase teacher’s awareness since anxiety is the main factor which affects the students’ learning. Knowing the students’ anxiety in learning will absolutely influence the teacher in treating the students properly. The students should respect each others and support each others in growing together and developing skills in the class.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the types of students' difficulties in speaking English at the eleventh grade TKJ of SMK Negeri 2 Siduaori and to explain the factors Students' difficulties in Speaking English to Eleventh grade TKJ of SMK Negeri 2 Siduaori. This research was applied in qualitative research design and the data were obtained through the classroom observation and interviews. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman theory such as data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing and verification. The result of this study showed that the students at the Eleventh grade TKJ of SMK Negeri 2 Siduaori were experienced the students' difficulties in speaking English they are pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency and comprehension. The factors that to the students' difficulties in Speaking English such as speaking in front of the class, being called by the teacher, incomprehensible input or unclear explanation, being ridiculed by peers/classmates, appropriate teaching method, low self-esteem, lack of vocabulary, lack of pronunciation, lack of grammar, lack of fluency and lack of comprehension and the students' beliefs about learning English, English is excessive, and stressful learning experience. The researcher figured out that the sources of these factors are not only come from the teacher but also from the students. This research showed that the teacher's awareness of the students' difficulties in speaking English is insufficient. Thus, it is extremely important to increase teacher's awareness since speaking is the main factor which affects the students' learning Knowing the students' speaking on English learning will absolutely influence the teacher in treating the students properly. The students should respect each other and support each other in growing together and developing skills in the class.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) untuk mendeskripsikan jenis kesalahan siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Mazo dalam menyelesaikan soal peluang (2) untuk mengetahui penyebab kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal peluang (3) untuk mengetahui gaya belajarnya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes, wawancara dan angket. Dengan menggunakan teknik analisis data yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data (data display), dan penarikan kesimpulan (verifikasi). Berdasarkan temuan peneliti diperoleh kesalahan siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Mazo dalam menyelesaikan soal peluang yang berjumlah 25 siswa adalah kesalahan memahami soal 35,2%, kesalahan menyelesaikan soal 44,8%, kesalahan menentukan jawaban akhir 9,6%, kesalahan tidak menjawab soal 4,0% dan jawaban benar 6,4%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa yang melakukan kesalahan paling banyak adalah kesalahan menyelesaikan soal. Penyebab siswa mengalami masalah dalam menyelesaikan soal yaitu : (a) siswa kurang mampu memahami yang diketahui dari soal, (b) siswa tidak mampu mengidentifikasi operasi matematika dalam menyelesaikan permasalahannya, (c) siswa melakukan kesalahan menghitung atau ketidaktelitian dalam perhitungan sehingga tidak memberikan jawaban dengan tepat. Sehingga hasil lembar jawaban siswa tidak memuaskan, (d) siswa sama sekali tidak bisa menjawab soal sehingga lembar jawaban kosong. Gaya belajar visual memperoleh 16 siswa, gaya belajar auditorial memperoleh 6 siswa, dan gaya belajar kinestetik memperoleh 3 siswa. Dengan itu, peneliti menyarankan kepada guru (1) hendaknya lebih sering memberikan soal yang membutuhkan penafsiran keabsahan (2) hendaknya membiasakan siswa menyelesaikan soal secara utuh dari penulisan soal yang diketahui sampai kesimpulan akhir, (3) sebaiknya dalam meyampaikan materi hendaknya disesuaikan dengan tipe gaya belajar siswa.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the code mixing of the Nias regional language and Indonesian in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency. This research aims (1) to describe the forms of code mixing in community conversations in Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency (2) to determine the factors behind the occurrence of code mixing in community conversations in Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The research findings obtained by researchers are forms of code mixing in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency in the form of words, phrases, bastards, repetition of words, expressions/idioms and factors that cause code mixing in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, Regency. South Nias in the form of role identification, variety identification, and the desire to explain/interpret. So it can be concluded that the forms of code mixing that occur in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency are in the form of words, phrases, bastards, repetition of words and expressions/idioms and the factors causing the emergence of code mixing in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency in the form of role identification, variety identification, the desire to explain and interpret, the researcher suggests to students that this research can be used as a basis for further research in the field of sociolinguistics for language teaching, for society, so that this research can increase society's insight or realize that mixed use code can cause the extinction of the Nias regional language, for readers, the use of code mixing is not good when communicating. Everyone should be able to use the correct language or use the real language and let's preserve the Nias regional language so that it doesn't perish and disappear.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the meanings of the Mogaele dance found in Orahili Fau village, Fanayama district. This research aims to describe the meaning of the Mogaele dance in Orahili Fau village, Fanayama District in semiotic studies. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research is the meaning of the Mogaele dance. The results of the research can show that in Orahili village there is a hidden meaning to the Mogaele dance movements, consisting of: Slow walking foot movements, arm swinging movements, tiptoe movements, straight sideways movements, and afo/betel giving movements. The suggestions put forward in this research are 1) It is recommended that students carry out further research, both in the field that has been studied and in other fields, to develop knowledge about the meaning of Mogaele dance. 2) There is attention to preserving the meaning of Mogaele dance, so that Mogaele dance remains preserved.

Abstract

Early research was motivated by an initial study of the object of research in a collection of short stories asking buffalo on a pedati, that there are three types of speech acts, namely locutionary speech acts, illocutionary speech acts, and perlocutionary speech acts. Based on the formulation of the problem above, the objectives (a) To describe the locutionary speech acts in the collection of short stories asking Buffalo on a Pedati by A. A Navis. (b) To describe the illocutionary speech acts in the short story collection Ask the Buffalo on the Pedati by A. A Navis. (c) To describe the perlocutionary speech acts in the short story collection Bertanya Kerbau pada Pedati by A. A Navis. This research uses qualitative approach with description research type. Based on the results of research and discussion of speech acts in the collection of short stories asking the buffalo on the pedati by A.A Navis, the researcher concludes that in the speech acts in the collection of short stories asking the buffalo on the pedati by A.A Navis there are ten locutions, five illocutions and there are six perlocutions. In the speech acts in the collection of short stories asking the buffalo on the pedati by A.A Navis, there are 21 (twenty-one) speech acts. As for the suggestions in this study (1) Students should understand the values of life contained in every literary work and can help improve short story writing skills. (2) Future researchers should be able to develop this research with the scope of the research.

Abstract

The background of the problem in this study is the character of the main character because the researcher is interested because the depiction of the character shown by the character in this novel is very lacking in economy, different from today's life. The purpose of this study was to describe the character in the novel Sepatu Dahlan by Khrisna Pabichara. The method used in this study is qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The character in the novel Sepatu Dahlan by Khrisna Pabichara is confident, responsible, and wise. In the novel Sepatu Dahlan by Khrisna Pabichara, there is a character that is confident, there is. 5 citations, the insured 5 citations, and wisely there are 6 citations. In total, there are 16 citations in the research data. Based on the results of the study, the researcher suggested 1) It is fitting that the description in this paper is not just scientific criticism for researchers and readers, but can provide scientific wisdom and can be used as valuable lessons in addressing problems in life. 2) The researcher advises the reader to apply it to everyday life. 4) May this study motivate readers to examine other aspects of other novels as a motivation. If necessary, students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program should empower this kind of study as a form of appreciation activity.

Abstract

This research is motivated by analytical and dramatic variations in the characters' characters. The characters in the novel Selembar Daun Momiji by Arizu Kazura, cause readers to become more curious about the continuation of the characters' characters and the characters in the novel Selembar Daun Momiji by Arizu Kazura, are difficult to interpret and this is the reason why researchers want to analyze the characters in the novel Selembar Momiji Leaves by Arizu Kazura. This research aims to describe the characterization of the characters in the novel Selembar Daun Momiji by Arizu Kazura. The approach used in this research is qualitative with a content analysis method. The data source in this research is the novel Selembar Daun Momiji by Arizu Kazura. The data collection technique for this research is documentation. The data analysis techniques in this research are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions/verification. The findings of this research show that the results of analytical analysis in the Novel Selembar Daun Momiji by Arizu Kazura have nine Yamada characters, five Ryoko characters and five Akira characters, while the results of the dramatic analysis of characterization in the Novel Selembar Daun Momiji by Arizu Kazura have five characters, namely Yamada, Ryoko, Akira, Keici and Hikari. Yamada's character is fair-skinned, handsome, responsible, doesn't force other people's will, has a good temper, is caring, likes to praise and pays attention, Ryoko has the character of being helpful, giving attention, likes to praise, has a good temper, likes to be sad, for nine years has closed herself off and lived a lie, Akira has a good-tempered character, does not force other people's wishes, likes to praise, cares and hurts for friends, Keici has a character who likes to help, is considerate and caring, Hikari has a character who is worried, affectionate and gives encouragement). The researcher's suggestion is that the findings of this research should be used as a comparison material for future researchers. and it is hoped that it can provide additional new insights in the field of Indonesian literary language, especially the form of mandate.

Abstract

Novel Abigail mengandung banyak pesan moral yang mengajarkan manusia untuk saling membantu sesama manusia. Dalam suatu kutipan tentang kisah seorang Nicholas dan Abigail menunjukkan bahwa seorang Nicholas sangat membenci Aby, namun Aby yang suka menolong pun mau membantu mengobati Nicholas tersebut di saat sakit, tanpa menghiraukan bahwa Nicholas itu adalah orang yang selalu membencinya dan marah kepadanya. Jadi dari kutipan tersebut mengajarkan kita untuk saling menolong dan mengasihi tanpa batas, baik itu teman kita, saudara, keluarga, bahkan musuh sekalipun. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pesan moral secara langsung dan pesan moral secara tidak langsung dalam novel Abigail karya Novanolita Bago. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah Novel Abigail Karya Novanolita Bago. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian in adalah teknik dokumentasi. Berdasarkan paparan data, temuan peneliti dan pembahasan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa novel Analisis Pesan Moral dalam Novel Abigail Karya Novanolita Bago terdapat 6 pesan moral secara langsung dan 5 kutipan pesan moral secara tidak langsung. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa novel Abigail Karya Novanolita Bago merupakan novel yang baik karena memperhatikan atau memberikan pesan moral yang di dalamnya dan sebagai media untuk menyampaikan pesan moral karakter nyata banyak yang bisa dijadikan pembelajaran untuk diambil hikmatnya di dalamnya. Berdasarkan kesimpulan di atas, peneliti mengharapkan hasil temuan ini dapat memberikan manfaat bagi (1) Bagi siswa, mendapatkan motivasi dalam karya sastra dan mampu menjadi sarana dalam mngetahui dan memahami nilai moral dalam novel Analisis Pesan Moral dalam Novel Abigail Karya Novanolita Bago yang dapat digunakan dalam membuat karya sastra yaitu novel. (2) Bagi guru, sebagai bahan motivasi dan menanamkan nilai-nilai moral dalam diri siswa. (3) Bagi peneliti lanjutan, dapat menjadi dasar bahan kajian tentang nilai moral pada novel.
