APIC Journal of Education and Training Medan Religious Training Center is a six-month periodical journal published by Balai Diklat Keagamaan Medan (Training Center for Education and Religious Technical Personnel), under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Republic of Indonesia. The journal is aimed to disseminate the results of research/study on approaches, models, strategies, methods, media, learning innovations and development of teaching materials that improving the quality of training for educational and religious technical personnel. APIC was first published in printed form in 2018. It is published frequently twice a year, in June and December.

Abstract

Education and Training Center so that the results can provide a general picture regarding the effectiveness of the implementation of the training program. In addition, it is also hoped that the results of this research can be input and improved in the context of improving the implementation of similar training programs that will be implemented in the future. In particular, the focus of this research is directed at measuring the level of effectiveness in three aspects; reaction aspects, learning aspects, and aspects of potential changes in training participants' behavior related to aspects of teacher performance, pedagogic, social, professional, and personality competencies. This research method uses a quantitative approach and a descriptive evaluative method. A quantitative approach is used in collecting information and data needed in research. Then, the research findings are described and interpreted using a descriptive evaluative method. The results showed that the reaction aspect (level 1) of the training participants to the materials, facilities, and infrastructure of the education and training organizers, and Widyaiswara was included in the good category. However, there are still some improvements related to the level of difficulty of the training material, learning support media, and variations in the use of models and learning approach according to the characteristics of the material and problems. The learning aspect (level 2) based on the learning outcomes of the pre-test and post-test scores showed an increase in understanding of the material for the acquisition of an N-gain score of 0.51 in the medium category, while the skills and attitudes of the training participants during the training were in a good category. Potential aspects of behavior change (level 3) related to teacher performance in pedagogic, professional, personality, and social aspects were obtained in a category. However, the results of this study also show that there is still a low level of confidence in several indicators such as the indicator of utilizing ICT for the benefit of PAI learning development and taking reflective action to improve the quality of learning, developing and creatively guided learning materials and sustainably developing professionalism. through reflective action. The low behavior change in these indicators is due to the low understanding and skills of using ICT because they are not accustomed to using it, and the heavy workload of teachers is the reason for not having time to make self-development efforts.

Abstract

Google Classroom Virtual Class Analysis on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Training for Madrasah Tsanawiyah Teachers in the Work Area of ​​the Ministry of Religion, South Labuhan Batu Regency. This study aims to determine the description of the virtual google classroom that has been created by the trainee teachers in ICT Training for Madrasah Tsanawiyah Teachers in the Work Area of ​​the Ministry of Religion, Labuhan Batu Selatan Regency. The research subjects were participants in the ICT Training for Madrasah Tsanawiyah Teachers in the Work Area of ​​the Ministry of Religion, Labuhan Batu Selatan Regency, which was held from 11 until 16 January 2021 totaled 30 people, with 2 aspects observed, namely the general aspect and the accessibility aspect. This research method is descriptive research. Data was obtained through observation and then analyzed using mean analysis. The results of data analysis showed that 46.67% of the training participants had an eligibility value of the Google Classroom virtual class with the "Very Eligible" category, 53.33% of the training participants had a feasibility value in the "Eligible" category.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the average value of the competence of the skills of tsanawiyah madrasah teachers in utilizing information and communication technology in the learning and self-development process in the implementation of training in the work area (PDWK) at the office of the ministry of religious affairs mandailing Natal district with a sample of 30 participants. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with survey methods. The data taken is skill value data during the training process. From the results of secondary data processing, for the training eye of making blocks the average value is 87 with a good predicate and the most value of 90 as many as 5 participants; the eyes of the online class creation training using the popular application average score of 88 with a good predicate and the most value of 95 as many as 5 participants; eye training in making attractive percentages using popular applications average value 92 with excellent predicate and the most value of 93 as many as 17 participants; Interactive video content creation training eyes averaged 86 with good predicate and the most value of 80 as many as 15 participants. While the average skill score for all subjects and all participants is 88 with a good predicate and the most value of 86 as many as 6 participants. So the implementation of information technology training of tsanawiyah madrasah teachers in the working area of Mandailing Natal kankemenag conducted by Medan Religious Training Center has been good in improving teacher competence for skills to utilize ICT in the learning and self-development process.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's efforts to eradicate illiteracy deserve appreciation, but this has not been accompanied by successful efforts in building a reading culture in the community. This is in accordance with various world surveys that note the low level of literacy in Indonesia. There are several studies through quantitative studies on interest and fondness for reading in various provinces in Indonesia, and this can be used as comparison material. One of the comprehensive studies conducted by the Center for Policy Research on Education and Culture, Research and Development Agency, Ministry of Education and Culture released the Reading Literacy Activity Index (Alibaca Index) in 34 provinces in Indonesia. Seeing this data, what becomes interesting to study later is whether the reading literacy level has a correlation with the student's academic achievement variable. This is important because in the end the school/madrasah literacy movement is aimed at achieving the highest level that goes beyond the level of habituation and development, namely the level of learning. This study aims to answer the questions, 1) Is there a significant positive correlation between students' reading literacy levels and academic achievement, in 34 provinces in Indonesia? and 2) What strategies should schools/madrasahs do to increase students' reading literacy levels and at the same time increase the achievement of academic achievement? This study uses a descriptive correlational approach by collecting data through the study of documentation and interviews. The results showed that the correlation between reading activity index and academic achievement (r) was 0.766. There are several innovation ideas also described qualitatively as a result of interviews.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity index and the comparison of insect diversity index in Gunung Leuser Bukit Lawang National Park in the Buffer ecosystem area. The research method uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The population in this study were all animals classified as insects (Insecta). The samples used were insects in the buffer forest area with 3 standpoints (lines). The data analysis technique uses the Shannon–Wiener diversity index. The results showed that the insect with the highest significance index (INP) from the three lines (without stands, rubber stands, and cocoa stands) was Macrotermes gilvus, namely 91.71 (rubber tree stands), 87.54 (cocoa tree stands), and 57. 42 (without stands). The insect diversity index H' using (Shannon-Wiener Index) from the three lines without stands (-2), rubber stands (-1), and brown stands (-1) were “low”. The low diversity index of the buffer forest is because the buffer forest in Bukit Lawang is a homogeneous forest.

Abstract

Birokrasi di Kantor Kementerian Agama Kabupaten/Kota masih terlihat corak yang berlandaskan pada hubungan atasan serta bawahan (patron client), adanya bawahan diharapkan mampu mengerjakan perintah sesuai harapan pimpinan. Akibatnya, bawahan selalu bergantung pada atasan. Budaya patronase menanamkan sikap ewuh pakewuh yang tidak normal pada atasan. Reformasi birokrasi di lingkungan Kementerian Agama yang dicanangkan di dalam berbagai butir tata pemerintahan yang baik, juga belum mampu mengatasi berbagai persoalan yang terjadi seperti korupsi merajalela hampir di semua sektor, efisiensi dan efektifitas kerja yang rendah, rekrutmen calon Pegawai Negeri Sipil yang masih melahirkan sumber daya manusia birokrat yang kurang berkualitas, sistem penempatan aparatur dalam jabatan yang perlu ditinjau ulang karena terkesan kurang memperhatikan kompetensi dan persoalan lain yang mempengaruhi meningkatnya kinerja aparatur. Wajah birokrasi Kantor Kementerian Agama Kabupaten/Kota akan terwakili dalam produk, berupa standar pelayanan publik yang riil dilaksanakannya. Di Kantor Kementerian Agama Kabupaten/Kota masih terlihat belum adanya budaya pelayanan publik yang berorientasi pada kebutuhan pelanggan (service delivery culture). Sebaliknya, birokrat serta politisi telah terobsesi guna mengubah birokrasi menjadi area pemerintahan serta kekuasaan (power culture). Akibatnya, ketidakpuasan serta kekecewaan publik pada birokrasi akan berlangsung lama. Pola semacam ini perlu dirobah agar pelayanan birokrasi dan kinerja dapat dirasakan langsung oleh masyarakat, sehingga kinerja birokrasi Kantor Kementerian Agama Kabupaten/Kota dapat meningkat menuju kinerja birokrasi yang melayani kepentingan masyarakat. Ke depan diharapkan dengan adanya reformasi budaya kerja membuat produktifitas aparatur birokrasi Kantor Kementerian Agama Kabupaten/Kota menjadi meningkat, sehingga menjadi aparatur yang kompetitif dalam menyambut era globalisasi.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the knowledge and skills of participants in using the Mendeley reference application. Based on the objectives, this study uses a participatory action research (PAR) research approach with diagnostic steps, action plans, action tacking, evaluation and reflection. Training and mentoring activities are carried out with asynchronous and synchronous methods with a total of 20 participants. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, document studies and tests. All data obtained will be analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that there was an increase in knowledge and skills in using the Mendeley application. 100% of participants said they were satisfied with the training and assistance in using the Mendeley application.

Abstract

This research was conducted using the classical method, meaning that the research process can be carried out with the condition that there are limited meetings around high schools or Madrasah Aliyah in the area of ​​​​the Center for Education and Religion (BDK) Medan. The Covid-19 pandemic, which has not been completed until now, has caused the learning process to not run well. Therefore, an analysis of teaching materials in the form of e-modules was carried out which will be developed for the web-based distance training learning process as an intermediary between trainers, students and teachers. The data analysis technique uses a feasibility instrument based on the national higher education standard (BSNPT). Modules circulating in the educational and religious areas of Medan are categorized as valid, meaning that innovation is needed.

Abstract

Pandemi COVID 19 memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap Pendidikan di Indonesia. Pembelajaran selama masa pandemi COVID 19 dilaksanakan dalam jaringan (daring) guna mengurangi dampak penularan virus. Berbagai masalah muncul dalam pembelajaran daring, terutama dalam hal kemandirian belajar peserta didik. Pandemi COVID 19 hari ini mengharuskan peserta didik mampu belajar secara mandiri agar dapat mengikuti pembelajaran dari rumah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaa google classroom terhadap kemandirian belajar peserta didik yang meliputi tanggung jawab, disiplin, percaya diri, inisiatif, dan motivasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian metode kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik dan orangtua Kelas VI salah satu MIN di Serdang Bedagai. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa angket, wawancara, pengamatan peneliti, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik yang memiliki perangkat digital secara mandiri mampu bertanggung jawab terhadap tugas-tugas yang diberikan melalui google classroom, walau demikian terdapat peserta didik yang harus membantu pekerjaan orangtua selama belajar daring yang menghambat tanggung jawab peserta didik mengerjakan tugas-tugas di rumah. Antusias peserta didik dalam mendapatkan pembelajaran melalui google classroom terbukti dengan aktifitas kehadiran mereka secara online di aplikasi. Selain itu kendala paket data internet dan keterbatasan kepemilikan smartphone menyebabkan mereka tidak secara penuh mengikuti pembelajaran daring.

Abstract

In order to optimize efficient, transparent and effective public service, information technology has a significant role in accomplishing the e-Government. Medan Religious Education and Training Center in one of the third echelon unit in Ministry of Religious Affairs which has the task of providing technical and administrative services to all elements within the Agency of Research, Development, Education and Training. In accomplishing the task, one of the functions is to carry out the management of information system in Medan Religious Education and Training Center. This study was conducted to analyze the impact of the using of education and training information systems toward the performance of education and training in the Ministry of Religious Affairs of North Sumatera. This research was conducted using a survey method by applying the primer data obtained through the questionnaire. The population in this study is the administrator of SIMDIKLAT (The Information Systems’ Management of Education and Training). The number of samples taken in this study were 35 people. The data analysis technique used validity test, reliability test, classical assumption and multiple regression test, F Test, T Test, and coefficient of determination test. The results of this study indicate that: effectiveness gives a positive and significant impact toward the performance at alpha 5%.
