Abstract

The Padri Movement, also known as the White Group Movement, grown up in Minangkabauin 1821 – 1837, on one side, had been a strong and militant struggle against Dutch colonizationin Sumatra. On the other side, this movement also raised as a power of reform, bringing together a strong and militant mission of Islamic Purification. This movement hadraised a violence controversy, both when it conflicted with traditional power and when itexpanded its areas of movement to the Batak Land. In the perspective of Sociology, boththe Padri Movement and its militant and violence actions brought in every expanded socialor religious movement cannot be separated one and each other. This is caused by the factthat such a movement is closely related to a strict religious ideology and faith, and at onceit also closely related to a complicated sociological condition at that time. Therefore, amulti-perspective is necessary to understand complicated socio-religious movements. Keywords: Padri Movement, Religious Movement, Islamic Purification.

Abstract

In the era of reformation, leading to the establishment of a democratic civil society, it isnecessary to reduce the role and power of bureaucracy that was previously predominant. The bureaucracy should be politically kept neutral, and strictly supervised by society alone, through for examples non governmental organizations, press, and their representativeselected through general election which is trustworthy and fair. Their lack of performanceand their high pathology of corruption, collusion and nepotism should also be upgraded inorder to be in conformity with a political life of Indonesia which is more democratic, open, and transparent, in line with the spirit of reformation. Keywords: reformation, bureaucracy, reduce, upgraded

Supremacy of law has been an ideal for the Rechsstaat, such as Indonesia, in the sensethat law is enforced and effective over every thing. Based on sociology of law theory, lawcould be enforced and effective in a national community if it conformed the legal spirit ofthe relevant nation. Ideally, therefore, for the supremacy of law, the criminal laws of Indonesiaare those in conformity with the spirit of truth and justice trusted and embraced byIndonesian nation, because such laws are the only ones reflecting the spirit of Indonesiannation. Keywords: supremacy of law, Indonesia, criminal law, spirit

Abstract

A state based on democratic principle, according to Han Kelsen, needs social consensusabout the significance of democracy, the works of democracy and the advantages ofdemocracy for their life. A strong democracy comes from the will of people, and intends toachieve common good and advantages. Therefore, democracy must deal with representativesof the will of people. Democracy must mean the availability of freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and freedom of assembly. Democracy involves compromise, thatis the settlement of disputes through a norm which does not completely accommodate theinterest of one party, nor contravene the interest of another one. Representative principleof Hans Kelsen has been, in fact, oriented to the process of responsibility to voters. Thismeans that democracy in the context of representative requires great responsibility, especiallythat of moral, to the voters, and not to political parties. Keywords: democracy, representative, responsibility

Abstract

In general, tax payment has been perceived merely as a citizen’s obligation which has tobe performed, paying less attention to the interests of Tax Payers. Therefore, this studyproposes to reveal possibilities of Tax Payers’ compliance because of just services givenby Tax Office and of Tax Payers’ satisfaction upon the justice itself. In this research, concept of justice is classified into distributive, procedural and interactional justices. Thisresearch involves 166 respondents, gained through convenience sampling from Tax Payersin KPP II. Using path analysis, this research results in the fact that justice affects, directly or indirectly, the compliance through intervening variable of satisfaction. Whilstbased on regression analysis, it has been shown that distributive justice and the satisfactionof Tax Payers upon procedural justice positively affect the Tax Payers’ compliance. Keywords: justice, satisfaction, compliance.

Abstract

The policy of National Examination (NE) standardisation has caused schools to be trapped in apractical effort to help student to be passed, focussing on merely repetitive test practices of examinationsubjects. Learning has been considered not as a process of developing or maturing, but aprocess to gain high grades and to pass the NE. As a consequence, teaching-learning process hasresulted in fear of failing the NE for studets. Teachers have also been stressed and depressed, because on one hand they have cultivated social empathy, but on the other hand, they have beenforced to engage in practices even they have not believed in, and in search for ‘bypasses’ for thesake of students’ successful in NE. Therefore, the policy of standardisation of passing grades inthe NE should be changed to reflect the spirit of decentralization and regional autonomy, and theappreciation of diversity of school qualities and capacities for teaching-learning.Keywords: Policy, National Examination, pass, fear.

This is due to the fact that apart from being new area, the issuance of sukuk isalso still dominated by the conventional issuers. Therefore, Moslems who want to investshould consider: the agreements between investors and the issuers of sukuk; the backgroundof the issuers of sukuk, whether they are feasible or not. This is important inrelation to the return that will be gained by investors, in order for them not to be trapped by“bodong” investment, appearing recently. Keywords: syari’ah obligation, careful, feasible, investment.
