Abstract

Students' research skills still need to be empowered. The Research-Based Learning (RBL) model is reported to improve students' research skills, but it has weaknesses that need to be addressed. The Team-Based Learning model can accommodate the weaknesses of the RBL model and vice versa. The RBL and TBL models have advantages and disadvantages that complement each other. Therefore, this study aims to integrate the RBL and TBL models into a model that is expected to empower students' research skills. This study also ensures the model's validity, practicality, and effectiveness in empowering students' research skills by using validation sheets, observation sheets, response questionnaires, and student research skills questionnaires. The Plomp & Nieveen development model is used in this study. The developed model was tested on 40 students who had taken Environmental Science courses at the University of Riau. The findings show that the developed RTBL model with the stages of Preparing, Assessing Readiness, Researching in a Team, and Reflecting is valid based on the validator's assessment. The RTBL model is also practical and effective in improving research skills. The RTBL model developed can empower research skills and can be used by educators in the learning process.

Abstract

This research examines gender-based differences in skills acquisition among students, with a particular emphasis on Creativity. Utilizing an independent sample t-test, the study evaluated the development of creative skills among male and female students in Leatherwork, specifically focusing on Decorative Techniques and Thonging Techniques. The data were derived from a cohort of students enrolled in Leatherwork training from level 100 to level 300 of the Higher National Diploma (HND) program at the Tamale Technical University. The analysis aimed to determine whether significant differences exist in the way male and female students acquire Creative Skills in Leatherwork. Factors such as instructional methods and gender-specific learning preferences were explored. The results of the independent sampled t-test indicated that there were no notable disparities in creativity scores between male and female students within the pedagogical framework adopted. The findings further suggested that there were no significant differences in skill acquisition in Leatherwork between males and females. The study demonstrates that the pedagogical framework accommodates the skills development and acquisition of both genders, highlighting the need for educational strategies that address these differences and promote the development of creativity equally among all students, irrespective of gender. Implications for curriculum design and gender-sensitive pedagogy were discussed to foster more equitable learning outcomes.

Abstract

The premise of this study is that education is an intentional attempt to discover pupils' potential. Students receive learning outcomes for every course they have taken at the conclusion of each semester, along with learning successes or the Cumulative Achievement Index. Using the K-Means Clustering approach is one way to categorize pupils based on their cumulative achievement index. This study uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, which is known as a mix-method study. A sequential explanatory design is used in this investigation. This study's findings include the application of the Data Mining Algorithm to classify students' learning outcomes in the Informatics Vocational Education Study Program according to socioeconomic and social factors, particularly if they major in computer education. Because of this, students require computers and other learning aids in order to facilitate learning in the classroom and to avoid any problems when the lecturer assigns homework.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of a creative and adaptive sports learning model in increasing the participation of students with special needs. The study used an experimental quantitative approach involving 30 students with special needs in an inclusive elementary school. Data were collected through participant observation, structured interviews with teachers and therapists, and questionnaires to parents, after which the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Descriptive statistical analysis showed an average student participation of 86.94 after the implementation of the learning model, which showed a significant increase. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test inferential test also showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between student participation before and after the implementation of the model. The results of interviews with parents revealed a positive impact not only on the physical aspects, but also the social and emotional aspects of their children. Adjustments to equipment, environment, and sports methods allowed students with special needs to be more actively involved in physical activities. These findings support the principles of inclusive education and indicate that the creative and adaptive learning model is effective in creating an inclusive learning environment. This study recommends the implementation of the model in other inclusive schools to increase the participation of students with special needs and support their holistic development.
