Abstract

Global changes in information, communication, professional, and other spheres of modern society necessitate several adjustments in educational practices. In preparing integrated tasks, students are taught to apply knowledge from various subjects to solve specific problems. One of the most important conditions for enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process is the development of students’ research and digital skills, which in turn fosters their creative and logical thinking abilities. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. The sample consisted of 46 second-year chemistry-biology students (23 in each group) from the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University during the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. The experimental and control groups were randomly selected. Key findings include a 7.7% improvement in digital skills among the experimental group compared to the control group (a high level of 48.3% in the experimental group, compared to 40.6% in the control group). The verification of integrated tasks indicates that digital skills involve understanding the purpose, conditions, and means of action. These skills are aimed at researching and clarifying specific processes, facts, and phenomena, while effectively utilizing knowledge and life experience. This research contributes novel insights by demonstrating how integrated tasks enhance digital competency within a chemistry-biology curriculum. The findings suggest that incorporating such methodologies into educational frameworks can bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ultimately improving students' readiness for the digital economy and research-oriented careers.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of branding on the economic performance of agricultural-livestock agro-processing industries and agrotourism enterprises in the Vlora region, emphasizing two performance indicators: Performance 1 (revenue growth) and Performance 2 (financial improvement). The research aims to verify the relationship between the agro-processing sector and the development of agritourism by analyzing how branding and the marketing of locally indicated products enhance economic outcomes. Data were collected from over 100 agro-processing industries and agrotourism businesses and analyzed using the STATA software. The findings reveal that branding has a significant positive effect on financial performance, with revenue increasing from 1,111 to 2,593 after implementing branding strategies. Furthermore, the marketing of branded products is linked to a notable rise in tourist numbers—an average of 2,815 compared to 2,640 in non-branded businesses—demonstrating that brand identity strengthens the competitiveness and attractiveness of agrotourism destinations. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of branding analysis within the dual framework of agro-processing and agritourism, highlighting branding as both an economic and cultural lever for rural development. Unlike previous studies that examined these sectors separately, this research provides empirical evidence of branding’s role as a bridge between local product identity and sustainable tourism growth. These results underscore the strategic importance of investing in brand development to enhance rural economic resilience, promote value-added agricultural products, and stimulate regional economic development through the synergy of agriculture, industry, and tourism.

Abstract

This study investigates the interplay of endogenous and exogenous factors influencing GDP growth in Albania and Serbia, two nations at different stages of EU integration. Key variables examined include consumption, education, exports, foreign direct investment (FDI), imports, savings (all relative to GDP), and urbanization rates, with a focus on the impact of high-technology exports. To analyze the World Bank dataset from 1993 to 2023 at a 95% confidence level, this study employs an Artificial Neural Network-Multilayer Perceptron Model (ANN-MLP), designated as H (1;1). The dataset is systematically divided into two subsets: the first subset comprises 70% of the observations, while the second subset contains the remaining 30%. The initial subset is utilized to optimize forecasting accuracy, allowing the model to adjust its parameters accordingly. Once the parameters have been optimized, they are applied to the second subset to assess the model's performance. This procedure yields a forecast error of less than 0.3%, demonstrating the model's efficacy. The novelty of this study lies in forecasting GDP growth in Albania and Serbia using ANN-MLP models, with a particular focus on the role of high-technology exports. It emphasizes the distinct importance of exports in Albania versus consumption and FDI in Serbia, offering nuanced insights into country-specific growth mechanisms. This tailored, context-sensitive approach provides valuable implications for policymakers aiming for EU integration, filling a gap in existing literature by explicitly contrasting the economic drivers in these neighboring, yet economically distinct, national contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the determinants influencing participation in gastronomic tourism in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, focusing on the role of distance, price satisfaction, and demographic characteristics. Using data collected from 303 respondents, logistic regression and decision tree analyses were applied to assess key behavioral predictors of culinary travel. The results reveal that distance is the most significant factor influencing willingness to engage in gastronomic tourism—individuals willing to travel farther are substantially more likely to seek authentic food experiences. In contrast, satisfaction with food prices and demographic factors such as age, gender, and expenditure levels were found to be statistically insignificant. These findings highlight that logistical accessibility outweighs demographic variables in shaping tourism participation. The study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence from an emerging destination, emphasizing the importance of mobility and access in gastronomic decision-making. Practical implications include the need for policymakers to improve transportation infrastructure, enhance culinary destination visibility, and promote authentic local food experiences. By strengthening these elements, Uzbekistan can better position itself as a prominent culinary tourism destination in Central Asia. The research also opens opportunities for future studies to explore psychological, cultural, and digital factors influencing food tourism behavior.

Abstract

Exchange rate movements play a central role in shaping external competitiveness, yet their effects are rarely symmetric and are often underestimated in studies that rely on linear models. This article examines how real effective exchange rate (REER) appreciations and depreciations influence the external sector in Morocco, focusing on foreign direct investment (FDI), exports, and imports over 1988–2023. Annual data from the World Development Indicators are analyzed using a Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) model, which decomposes REER into appreciation and depreciation components. Cointegration is assessed through bounds testing, while Wald statistics evaluate the presence of short- and long-run asymmetries. The results show that appreciations have sharper and more immediate impacts than depreciations across all channels. In the short run, appreciation reduces FDI and exports while boosting imports, though some of these effects are later corrected. Depreciation produces weaker and delayed responses, reflecting the economy’s dependence on imported inputs for exports and essential goods. Over the long run, imports display significant asymmetry, exports respond largely symmetrically, and FDI reveals a delayed rebound after appreciation, highlighting the credibility effect of currency stability. The novelty of this study lies in combining a long horizon with a nonlinear approach rarely applied to Morocco, uncovering dynamics overlooked by linear models, most notably the rebound of FDI and exports following appreciation and the structural rigidity of imports. These findings suggest that sustaining competitiveness requires more than exchange rate management; export diversification, financial deepening, and industrial upgrading are crucial to mitigating appreciation shocks and enhancing resilience.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently gained prominence in higher education, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, offering transformative potential for learning and innovation. However, students’ adoption of AI tools is influenced by multiple psychological and contextual factors. This study aims to examine the effects of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence on students’ behavioral intentions to integrate AI into STEM education. A quantitative research design was employed, involving 203 undergraduate students from the University of Jambi and Universitas PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through SmartPLS 3.3 to identify direct and mediating relationships among variables. The findings revealed that performance expectancy significantly influenced students’ behavioral intentions, indicating that perceived usefulness of AI outweighs ease of use in determining adoption. Effort expectancy also had a substantial effect and mediated the relationship between performance expectancy and behavioral intentions, while social influence showed no significant impact. These results highlight that students’ engagement with AI in STEM learning is driven more by perceived academic and functional benefits than by peer or social reinforcement. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework with the STEM education context in developing countries, providing new empirical insights into AI adoption behavior. The study recommends designing AI-supported learning environments that emphasize practical benefits, user-friendly interfaces, and pedagogical integration to enhance students’ learning outcomes and technological readiness.

Abstract

This study investigated the expectations and challenges of 18 non-science track students regarding introductory physics courses at the upper secondary level in Thai schools. We employed a survey research design using a validated questionnaire to gather descriptive data. A panel of three experts validated the questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics. The main findings revealed that most students (72.22%) found physics “enjoyable but sometimes not understanding,” and mathematical calculations were the most significant challenge (66.67%). Students highly preferred learning support in the form of clear explanations (M=4.11, SD=0.96) and step-by-step problem-solving (M=4.06, SD=0.87). This research is unique in its focused examination of physics learning expectations among non-science track students within the Thai educational context, an area that has been understudied. The findings contribute to the field by providing specific insights into the challenges and support needs of this distinct student population. The results suggest that physics instruction for non-science students should incorporate differentiated teaching strategies, focusing on clear, step-by-step problem-solving and real-world applications to enhance conceptual understanding and engagement. This study’s findings can serve as a valuable guideline for designing future physics curricula and professional development programs for teachers of non-science track students.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services and examine related factors at government medical institutions in Al-Buaraimi Governorate. A cross-sectional design using a standardized self-administered questionnaire was applied. A total of 371 patients were selected through random sampling. The questionnaire covered five domains: sociodemographic characteristics, location, supply, pharmacist’s attitude, and promptness. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, Mann-Whitney U, and Kruskal-Wallis tests. The results of the respondents, 55.8% were male, with a mean age of 39.6 years. Overall, 75.27% were satisfied with pharmaceutical services. Highest mean scores were reported for “Pharmacist showed interest in helping me obtain medication” and “Pharmacist showed respect” (4.73), followed by “Received medication within a reasonable time” (4.71) and “Waiting time acceptable considering prescription quantity” (4.69). More than three-quarters (78.7%) used daily medications. Patients visited pharmacies an average of three times annually (SD ±1.372) and received about four items per visit (SD ±1.994). Dispensing took approximately three minutes (SD ±1.213). Four variables showed significant correlation with satisfaction, one showed weak correlation, and one showed no association (p < 0.05). Patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services was generally high, reflecting the quality of care provided. However, regular audits are recommended to enhance satisfaction and support continuous quality improvement, particularly for national accreditation processes. Strengthening communication between pharmacies and government institutions is also essential to improve services and prevent drug-related issues.

Abstract

Sustainable tourism in Myanmar faces mounting challenges from political instability, economic volatility, social pressures, and technological limitations. While these PEST factors shape tourism outcomes, limited research has explored how institutional capacity mediates their impact in fragile national contexts. This study examines the interplay between external pressures and institutional responses to understand pathways toward sustainable tourism development in Myanmar. A qualitative research design was employed, drawing on semi-structured interviews with 20 stakeholders across Myanmar’s tourism sector, including policymakers, operators, and community leaders. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s six-phase thematic analysis to identify patterns related to PEST factors, institutional capacity, and sustainability outcomes. Findings reveal that political and economic instability are the most critical barriers to tourism development, compounded by labor migration, cultural neglect, and weak technological infrastructure. Despite these challenges, institutional capacity expressed through community engagement, workforce training, and adaptive strategies emerged as a key mediator in mitigating external pressures. Discussion/Implications: The study contributes theoretical insights by demonstrating the mediating role of institutional capacity in volatile environments and provides practical recommendations for strengthening governance frameworks, fostering public-private partnerships, and enhancing technological investment. These implications are relevant for policymakers and practitioners seeking to build resilience and advance sustainable tourism not only in Myanmar but also in similarly fragile contexts.

Abstract

Religious tourism areas in Kudus Regency, Indonesia particularly the Tomb of Sunan Muria and the Tomb of Sunan Kudus are visited by thousands of pilgrims every day, creating significant transportation flows and contributing to air pollution. This study aims to evaluate the environmental quality and legal implications of air pollution caused by transportation activities in these two religious tourism sites. Using an empirical legal research design with a qualitative approach, primary data were collected through interviews and supported by results from Internet of Things (IoT) based air pollution detection devices that measured oxygen (O₂), temperature, and carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels. The results were then analyzed using the mean formula. The findings reveal differing environmental conditions between the two locations. The highland area of Sunan Muria generally shows air quality levels within Indonesia’s permissible standards, while the urban environment of Sunan Kudus records higher CO₂ and temperature levels exceeding the national air pollution threshold. These findings indicate that urban religious tourism faces more severe environmental challenges. The discussion emphasizes the urgent need for legal and policy reform toward a green transportation framework in Kudus Regency. This research contributes to demonstrating how IoT-based monitoring can serve as an empirical foundation for evidence-based environmental policymaking in Indonesia’s tourism sector.
