Abstract

Poor sleep quality is a common complaint among pregnant women, yet it is often underestimated as a factor that may contribute to the morbidity of both the mother and the fetus. Non-pharmacological interventions to improve sleep quality in pregnant women could serve as a therapeutic option with minimal side effects. Unfortunately, research on non-pharmacological interventions combining prenatal gentle yoga with dhikr is still rare. This study aims to investigate the effect of the prenatal gentle yoga and dhikr combination on the pregnant women’s sleep quality. This is a quasi-experimental study with pre-and post-design. The study was conducted at the Bajeng Health Center, Gowa Regency, from April to May 2022. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 15 samples. Pregnant women were given the prenatal gentle yoga and dhikr combination intervention three times within one month, with a duration of 10-15 minutes per session. Sleep quality was measured before and after the intervention using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Univariate analysis and bivariate analysis were conducted using descriptive analysis and the Wilcoxon test, respectively. The results showed that there was an effect of the prenatal gentle yoga and dhikr combination on the pregnant women’s sleep quality (p-value 0.00). This intervention was effective in improving the pregnant women’s sleep quality. The findings of this study highlight the need for healthcare providers to recommend this minimal side-effect intervention as a complementary therapy. Further research with a bigger sample size is needed to explore the broader benefits of this combined intervention.

Abstract

Promoting preconception health care is a crucial public health strategy that promotes the development, growth, and well-being of child. However, awareness and knowledge of the importance of preconception care are still lacking among future parents. The purpose of this study was to identify information about implementation of preconception care focusing on parenting preparedness among future parents, including relevant sources of evidence from each article that has been found. The scoping review used the Arkey and O'Malley approach. Article search used three databases, such as PubMed, ScienceDirect and Wiley, published between 2019-2023. Results A total of 1,767 were then selected into 12 relevant articles. Several things that must be considered in providing preconception care in preparation for becoming parents to prospective bride and groom couples, namely the importance of physical, mental/psychological, and economic preparation and equality in sharing the role of parents in raising children. Creating good care for children is influenced by several factors, namely good knowledge, education, information access, and healthcare providers needed by prospective couples for providing preconception care in preparation for becoming parents. Examining policy frameworks that facilitate the provision of preconception care at local and national levels, including financing sources and provider guidelines, is necessary to improve understanding and implementation of effective preconception care strategies

Abstract

The prevalence of obesity and overweight in 2018 was more than 650 million people. Treatment of obesity includes both non-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches, including the use of flaxseed oil. flaxseed oil, containing about 40% oil with ALA as the main component, provides omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation associated with obesity, and its high soluble and insoluble fiber content increases satiety, reduces calorie intake, and improves digestive health. This study aimed to find out how flaxseed oil supplements affect body weight in women. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a control group that included a pre and post-test. Respondents used amounted to 78 people who were divided into 2 groups, namely intervention (39 participants) and control (39 participants) in the working area of Puskesmas Pesantren II and Puskesmas Kota North Region of Kediri City. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. The intervention group was given standard care and flaxseed oil supplement 1 x 1000 mg daily for 12 weeks, while the control group only received standard care. With a p-value of 0.460, the Wilcoxon test on the experimental group for body weight revealed statistically insignificant findings. In contrast, a p-value of 0.356, was observed for body weight in the control group. On the post-test difference in body weight, the p-value was 0.024. flaxseed oil supplementation reduces body weight in women. This study is expected to help health workers to provide flaxseed oil supplements to obese women as an alternative treatment.

Abstract

Enhanced Recovery After Caesarean Section (ERACS) is a method that is currently being widely developed, one of which is for mothers undergoing cesarean sections. The use of ERACS enables postpartum recovery time to be faster, thus improving mobility, accelerating labor recovery, and providing other benefits such as enhancing the quality of care and reducing the use of consumables. However, not all mothers and hospitals use ERACS. The purpose of this study is to determine the difference in conscious recovery time in the recovery room between patients post-surgery using the ERACS method and the conventional method at RSUD Soerojo. This comparative study uses a quantitative approach, quasi-experimental, with a control group design. The population includes all post-cesarean section patients using spinal anesthesia, with the sample being post-cesarean section patients using ERACS and the conventional method. There is a significant difference between spinal anesthesia techniques with ERACS and the conventional method in terms of accelerating the recovery time of post-cesarean section patients in the recovery room, with a significance value of 0.000. The use of ERACS should be considered for all mothers undergoing cesarean sections in all hospitals if there are no contraindications

Abstract

Globally, stunting continues to be a serious public health problem. Efforts to prevent stunting include exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding. The success of early breastfeeding after childbirth determines the success of exclusive breastfeeding, which contributes to reducing the stunting prevalence. Breast pain and insufficient milk production are causes of early breastfeeding failure. Fire cupping therapy can be an alternative to overcome these problems. Unfortunately, research on the effect of this therapy on early breastfeeding initiation is limited. This study aims to determine the effect of fire cupping therapy on early lactation in postpartum women in the coastal area of Konawe Regency. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group was used in this study. Purposive sampling was used to select samples, and 30 respondents were obtained (divided into intervention and control groups of 15 respondents each). The intervention group received fire cupping therapy 2 times for 30 minutes. Univariate analysis using descriptive analysis and bivariate analysis using paired t-test. In the intervention group there was a significant increase in the mean LATCH score of 1.26 (p-value <0.05). In the control group, the mean LATCH score of 0.67 was not significant (p-value > 0.05). Fire cupping therapy effectively improves early lactation outcomes in postpartum mothers. Incorporating complementary therapies into maternal health care procedures may improve breastfeeding outcomes and general maternal and newborn health, especially for stunting prevention. Future studies should investigate the long-term impact of fire cupping therapy on breastfeeding outcomes and involve larger and more varied populations.
