Abstract

Preventing the risk of falls is important in the process of implementing patient safety in hospitals. The consequences if an injury occurs from a fall will increase the patient's morbidity rate, prolong the length of stay and will be detrimental to the patient and the hospital. Although the prevalence of injuries due to falls is high, this incident can be prevented by using an initial assessment of the patient's risk of falling. Where research shows that almost 33% of patient falls during hospitalization can be prevented by managing the patient's fall threat factors as well as managing the environment and care process. Objective: This case report aims to describe the implementation of planned changes in optimizing the implementation of fall risk prevention. Method: The method used is a case report. Data collection uses interviews, questionnaires and field observations. The results of data exploration are then analyzed using SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) and fishbone diagrams, then formulating a plan of action (PoA), followed by implementation and evaluation. Results: Implementation results were not optimal because it was necessary to evaluate fall risk guidelines, regular supervision programs and carry out clinical audits or case reflection discussions related to fall risk prevention. Recommendation: Lewin's theory of change approach can be continued by hospital management as a form of developing quality services.

Abstract

Nurse educators play an important role in nursing clinical learning in hospitals. Nurse educators design high-quality learning for nurses and nursing students according to learning needs. This study aims to initiate the development of the role of nurse educators through nursing clinical learning guidelines. The method used was a case study with an action research approach. The findings showed that the clinical care manager's role as a nurse educator was able to understand nursing education and skills needs, design learning and apply research findings to improve nursing care. 80% of nurses felt comfortable with the learning culture, work environment conducive to learning and high motivation to learn. 84% of nurses were satisfied with the clinical learning methods provided by nurse educators such as nursing care rounds, case reports, journal reading, bed side teaching, one day one clinical question, preceptorship-mentorship-coaching which are conducted regularly at least once a month. However, currently there is no nursing clinical learning guide that can be a reference for nurse educators so that the role of nurse educators has not been optimally developed. Conclusion: Support from the nursing department, nursing committee and hospital management is needed to design nursing clinical learning guidelines to fully develop the role of nurse educators in nursing education in hospitals.

Abstract

An Analytical Study Of Managers' Efforts In The Realisation Of Strategic Planning Of RSUD Kabupaten Empat Lawang Through The Balanced Scorecard Approach. Although strategic planning has been prepared in such a way as to choose the best approach, in practice, many managers have difficulty realising the plan. This study aims to analyse the steps and efforts in realising strategic planning at RSUD Empat Lawang Regency through the BSC approach. The method used is a case study through SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat). Data were obtained through a document review of the hospital's profile and achievements. The data were then analysed for external and internal situations using the SWOT method, then inputted into the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) matrix and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) matrix to be given weight and scale, and determined the position of the organisation through the Internal-External (IE) matrix. Then strategies were formulated through Threat, Opportunity, Weakness, and Strength (TOWS) followed by the determination of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) perspectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The results of the analysis show that the RSUD is in cell IV, which means that the RSUD is best controlled with a growth and build strategy so that 10 targets are obtained along with the manager's efforts in realisation which include measuring Value For Money, collaborating with other parties, developing innovations and preparing education and training plans. The managers' efforts in this study can be used as a reference in evaluating the realisation of strategic plans in health service organisations.
