Abstract

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia's national airline. Reviews Garuda Indonesia's status before the pandemic, emphasizing its critical role in the global aviation sector and its challenges, including fluctuating jet fuel prices and environmental concerns. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented disruption, leading to a sharp decline in passenger demand, stringent travel restrictions, and a global economic downturn, all of which significantly impacted the aviation industry. This study analyzes the financial consequences for Garuda Indonesia, which are characterized by declining revenues and operational challenges, as well as the implementation of strategic measures to mitigate these impacts. The study uses a comprehensive methodology, analyzing financial statements and market data to assess the airline's resilience, financial health, and adaptation strategies during the pandemic. The study highlights the airline's shift towards financial restructuring, increasing operational efficiency, and focusing on passenger-centric services as key strategies for survival. The role of government support and policies in assisting the aviation sector during this crisis is also discussed, emphasizing the need for such interventions for the industry's recovery. The paper underlines the importance of continued innovation and adaptability in the aviation industry, particularly for airlines like Garuda Indonesia, to navigate post-pandemic challenges and sustain long-term growth and development.

Abstract

The rate of drug abuse in Indonesia continues to increase every year, and Tangerang City, Indonesia, is one of the areas experiencing a rise in drug-related cases annually. Therefore, through the Drug-Free Village Program, BNN Tangerang City strives to reduce the level of drug abuse in the area. This study aims to explain the communication strategy used by the Prevention and Community Empowerment Team of BNN Tangerang City in the Drug-Free Village Program. The theories used in this research are the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) and communication planning. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with the research subject being the Prevention and Community Empowerment Team of BNN Tangerang City. The findings of this study conclude that the communication strategy used by the Prevention and Community Empowerment Team of BNN Tangerang City consists of ten stages of communication planning, starting with gathering data related to the program, determining program objectives, defining strategies, segmenting the audience, selecting channels, structuring messages, conducting management planning, organizing training, implementing the program, and finally, evaluating the program. According to the Prevention and Community Empowerment Team of BNN Tangerang City, implementing the Drug-Free Village Program has been quite effective in increasing community participation in preventing drug abuse. This is evidenced by the continued operation of P4GN activities in villages that have been designated as drug-free villages, even after the program has officially ended. However, improvements in strategy evaluation and development must continue to be made to create a more effective communication strategy.

The variables measured include work motivation (X1), work environment (X2), work culture (X3), and employee performance (Y), with each measured using a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis techniques included validity and reliability tests, normality test, F-test, t-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results revealed that work motivation had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while work environment and work culture showed no significant effect when tested individually. However, when analyzed simultaneously, all three independent variables had a significant joint influence on performance. The study concludes that employee motivation plays a dominant role in shaping performance outcomes, offering useful implications for human resource management strategies in the hospitality sector.
