Abstract

This study aims to reveal the personalities of the characters in the short story Ruang Negatif by M. Z. Billal by examining how the id, ego, and superego interact to shape the actions and inner conflicts of Jamil and Ibu. Indonesian literary works, including short stories, often address psychological themes, such as trauma, loss, and parent-child relationships, as a means of emotional reflection. The focus of the study is limited to the short story text and two central characters without reviewing broader social aspects. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a Sigmund Freudian literary psychology approach through the process of collecting and grouping quotations related to personality structure. The analyzed data are in the form of text fragments describing the characters' behavior, feelings, and thoughts, which are then interpreted using Freud's psychodynamic framework. The research findings indicate that Jamil is able to balance the functions of the id, ego, and superego, while Ibu tends to be dominated by the superego but is still influenced by trauma from loss, which gives rise to id impulses in the form of fear. The study also found interesting things in the use of symbols in routines, such as tidying up, which reflects efforts to organize life, as well as the use of a mixed plot and an I-point of view that deepens the psychological depiction of the characters.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of urban women's voices in Almira Bastari's novel Home Sweet Loan through Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis approach. This study focuses on three main aspects of Mills' model, namely the position of the subject, the position of the object, and the position of the reader to reveal how power relations, gender stereotypes, and resistance are represented in the text. The method used is descriptive qualitative with discourse analysis techniques. The results show that women in this novel are portrayed as rational and critical subjects, especially in financial management and life decision-making, which simultaneously reverses the stereotype of women as consumptive figures. However, at the same time, women remain in a vulnerable position due to domestic pressures, demands for family obedience, and social expectations regarding marital status and the image of the ideal family. An interesting finding from this study is that patriarchal values are not only depicted through male characters, but also reproduced by female characters from previous generations. Through the reader's position, the text directs empathy towards female characters while encouraging readers to criticize of gender inequality in contemporary urban life.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand in depth the dynamics of language communication in the context of multicultural interaction in a higher education environment, with a focus on KH University. Mukhtar Syafaat Blokagung Banyuwangi. The diversity of students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds at UIMSYA, this research explores the forms of language communication interaction that are realized, the challenges of understanding that arise due to linguistic and cultural differences, as well as the communication adaptation strategies used by students. Data collection techniques through observation and structured interviews focused on Tadris Bahasa Indonesia students in semester 4. Data analysis, researchers used the Miles and Hubermen flow chart which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions/verification. The data found based on themes relevant to the data revealed linguistic flexibility in the use of Indonesian and regional languages, the potential for miscommunication due to differences in dialects and cultural references, as well as various accommodation strategies implemented by students to bridge differences. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of awareness of language diversity, development of cross-cultural communication competencies, and creation of an inclusive academic environment to maximize the positive potential of multicultural interactions in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover forms of gender subordination ideology and female stereotypes through a Feminist Stylistics analysis in the novel Tuhan Izinkan Aku Menjadi Pelacur! (TIAMP) by Dahlan. Patriarchal social constructions are often reflected in everyday life and prevalent in society; in literary works, this can be explored through the language used to represent women. The focus of this study is on how language represents women throughout the novel's text, as well as the positive or negative values that emerge from it. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with Sara Mills' Feminist Stylistics approach, through data collection techniques involving library research, reading, and note-taking. The data analyzed consist of words, phrases/sentences, and discourses found in the novel's text. The research findings at the word level include gender ideology categories of Naming and Androcentrism, and the Female Experience category: Euphemism and Taboo. Next, at the phrase/sentence level, gender ideology categories of Presupposition and Inference, and Metaphor and Simile were found. Finally, at the discourse level, forms of gender ideology in the categories of Character and Role, and Fragmentation were identified.The study also uncovers the intriguing finding that language participates in perpetuating stereotypes that harm women.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the discourse, cultural meaning, and symbolism in the Temu Manten procession in Javanese traditional weddings. The scope of the research focuses on the Temu Manten procession in Javanese traditional weddings as a semiotic system that combines ritual speech, symbolic actions, and value structures. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnolinguistic approach. Data were obtained through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and recording of the procession in Kedungwungu Village, Banyuwangi. The results show that prayers, mantras, advice, and ritual dialogue function as a medium for preserving the noble values ??of Javanese society, such as harmony, loyalty, respect for parents, and balance in life. Each stage of the procession, including panggih, balangan gantal, wijikan, pecah wiji aji, junjung prajat, kacar-kucur, and sungkeman, contains cultural symbols that build philosophical meanings about responsibility, partnership, and spirituality in the household. The interaction between language and ritual actions shows that Temu Manten is a semiotic system that unites social structures, traditional practices, and cultural identities. An interesting finding in this study demonstrates that ritual language serves as a medium for storing cultural values ??and binding social structures within Javanese communities. Abstract

  This research aims to describe the process of vocabulary acquisition in a six year old child with speech impairment through verbal stimuli provided in daily interactions. The scope of this research focuses on the basic vocabulary forms successfully articulated by the child, as well as the patterns of stimulus, response, and reinforcement that emerge during the communication process. The method used in this research is a case study with a descriptive qualitative approach, based on behaviorism theory to observe how language habits are formed through repeated interactions. Data were obtained through naturalistic observation, interviews with parents and teachers, and a stimulus response checklist containing records of the child's vocabulary utterances. The data analyzed included spontaneous responses, word imitation, and the child's ability to follow simple commands. The results of the study indicate that the child's vocabulary acquisition developed gradually; the child found it easier to articulate words when seeing concrete objects or hearing clear pronunciation examples. Most utterances were still in the form of syllable fragments, but the child demonstrated an effort to imitate the words provided. Positive reinforcement from parents and teachers proved to make the child more confident in repeating the same words. This finding confirms that consistent verbal stimuli can help in the formation of language habits in children with speech delays, as demonstrated by the increased initiative of the child in initiating simple utterances during observation.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct gamification practices, often confined to mere structural aspects (pointsification), toward a deeper ontological understanding of play, while analyzing the convergence of educational philosophy with technological interventions. The scope of the research focuses on the implementation of the Homo Ludens concept within the context of Indonesian language learning spanning from 2020 to 2025. The methodology employed is a Narrative Literature Review (NLR), utilizing Johan Huizinga’s philosophical lens and a thematic analysis based on Roger Caillois’ typology of play. The research data model comprises 21 articles selected from the Crossref database, harvested via Harzing’s Publish or Perish, and screened through a Manual Quality Assessment (MQA) of reputable journals indexed in SINTA and Scopus. The findings reveal a fundamental paradigm shift wherein play has evolved into a core pedagogy, particularly within elementary education. Specifically, the study identifies a dominance of the agôn (competition) category, which enhances cognitive metrics but poses a risk of fostering transactional motivation. Conversely, the mimicry category and the concept of the magic circle prove vital in establishing a safe space for graceful failure, thereby reducing language anxiety. The study concludes that a balanced instructional design between competition and imagination is essential to preserve human agency amidst the rising dominance of Artificial Intelligence.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze in depth the level of learning interest of class XI students of SMK Mamba'ul Huda Sumberurip towards the Indonesian Language subject. Interest is an essential psychological factor that significantly influences academic achievement in a subject. This study was conducted at SMK Mamba'ul Huda, involving 30 class XI students from 2 classes. The method used is a descriptive survey with a quantitative approach analyzed using the interpretation of percentage values, reinforced by a qualitative approach through interviews. Primary data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 30 students with 30 statement items, as well as interviews with key informants (principals, teachers, and students). The results of the data analysis indicate that in general, students' learning interest is still at a level that requires serious attention, characterized by a lack of feelings of joy, motivation, interest, and active encouragement towards the Indonesian Language subject. Specific findings show that almost 46.2% of students stated that they neither agree nor disagree with the statement that they feel happy and enthusiastic in learning. The conclusion of this study confirms that interest in learning Indonesian at SMK Mamba'ul Huda Sumberurip must be increased because of the role of Indonesian as a foundation and introduction to communication in the world of education and vocational studies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the parenting patterns present in the novel *7 Prajurit Bapak* by Wulan Nuramalia and their utilization as teaching material in the preparation of a novel analysis learning module at the high school level. The analysis is focused on narratives and dialogues that contain elements of parental parenting toward children, to reveal the moral, social, and psychological values contained in the story. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data sources in the form of excerpts from the novel *7 Prajurit Bapak*. The research data is supported by relevant theories from books and scholarly articles. The data is analyzed through a careful grouping process, then presented in the form of tables to facilitate the analysis and discussion process. The research results show that the parenting style of the parents in the novel tends to be authoritative; however, in certain situations, the character of the Father also applies authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful styles. This combination of parenting styles shapes a child character that is responsible, independent, socially minded, solidaristic, and highly empathetic toward others. This research is not only an analysis of literary elements in the novel but also relates to studying parenting theory in child developmental psychology, thereby simultaneously providing multidisciplinary learning, namely literary studies and character education. These findings can be utilized to train students' critical thinking skills through discussions on the analysis of intrinsic elements and the impact of parenting styles on child character development. The teaching module created based on this analysis has been validated by three experts and declared suitable for use with some minor revisions.
