Abstract

Recently, many primary schools in Indonesia have focused their English language teaching mainly on the students’ ability to speak in English. The primary schools provide students with storytelling which promote their speaking ability. This research aims to portray the storytelling activity in the teaching of speaking that the teacher conducted involving primary school students and to find out the ways how the teacher sets up each of those activities. This study was conducted at one International Primary School in Bandung. The participants of this study were one teacher and the students at the primary 1 up to primary 4 consisting of 44 students. This study employed a case study design. Three instrumentations were used to gain data. The data were analyzed qualitatively in accordance with the two research questions. The validation of the data was conducted through triangulation. The findings revealed that the teacher applied storytelling in the teaching of speaking to the primary schools students (classes 1 up to 4). In conducting the classroom activities, the teacher has provided meaningful and purposeful activities which have followed the three dimensions of learning a target language. The activities to some extent were relevant to young learners’ learning characteristics and their constructed knowledge. Moreover, the research showed that the teacher organized the classroom activities through 1) teaching a class as a whole, 2) organizing group work and 3) organizing oral performance. In organizing the classroom activities, the teacher has promoted the students’ ability to communicate their ideas and thought in English.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing students' learning difficulties in mathematics. Located at the Neglasari State Elementary School, Bogor City, it was held in the even semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year. In this research, the writer uses qualitative research with descriptive method. The data collection procedure was carried out by triangulation, namely a combination of the results of observations (observations), interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed by reducing irrelevant data, presenting data systematically, and drawing conclusions from research findings. The results showed that the learning difficulties experienced by students in mathematics subjects were difficulties in understanding concepts, difficulties in understanding mathematical language, difficulties in calculations and difficulties in solving problems. It can be concluded that students still have difficulty learning in mathematics. The solution is that students must get the right treatment, with the efforts of teachers who are also supported by their parents, as well as the enthusiasm and motivation of students to improve their numeracy skills.

Abstract

In this research, VAKT method is chosen to improve the mentally retarded students’ ability to write a word. The subjects of this research are the eighth grade students of SMPLB-C Sejahtera Bogor consisting of four students. The data were collected from October 12th until October 29th, 2015. The method of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of two cycle processes and each cycle consists of three treatments. In the pre-test all of students (100%) belong to poor criteria. After the treatments, the result of the first cycle showed there were two out of four students (50%) got 74 and belong to good criteria. Two other (50%) students got 40 and 54. They still belong to poor criteria. In the second cycle the result showed that one student (25%) got 100 and belongs to excellent criteria; two students (50%) got 80 and 87. They belong to very good criteria. One student (25%) got 74 and belongs to good criteria. The result indicates that VAKT method can improve mentally retarded students’ ability to write a word.

Abstract

The research was conducted using Classroom Action Research (CAR) collaboratively within two cycles. The aim of the research is to find out the improvement of students’ achievement on social science subject using a map as a learning media to the fifth graders. The subjects of the research were a teacher and fifth grade students at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Puspasari in a district of Bogor. The number of the students was 34 with the composition of 16 girls and 18 boys. The research result shows that the students’ average score at the first cycle was 63 with the percentage of 44% while in the second cycle the average score improved to 76 with the percentage of 97%. There was an improvement of students’ achievement or an improvement of completion as much as 53%. The same result was gained from students observation. There was an increase in students’ participation and activities from 66 at the first cycle to 79 at the second cycle. The research result shows that the use of a map as a learning media is able to improve students’ achievement on social science subject conducted to students of the fifth grade at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Puspasari in a district of Bogor. Besides that, the use of a map in social science class is also able to improve students’ participation and activities in the learning process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pembelajaran teks anekdot pada siswa SMA. Peneliti ingin memasukkan teori berhumor dalam pembelajaran teks anekdot, sebab pada dasarnya anekdot adalah bagian dari humor. Teknik superioritas adalah salah satu teori klasik dalam menciptakan humor, selain dengan keganjilan dan pelepasan. Teknik superioritas menempatkan adanya pihak superior yang bisa dengan mudahnya menertawakan pihak inferior. Namun di sini, peneliti ingin kembali menegaskan bahwasanya menjadi pihak inferior pun bisa saja mengundang tawa. Ada dua tujuan dari penelitian ini: (1) untuk mengetahui penerapan teknik superioritas dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis anekdot pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Palabuhanratu Kabupaten Sukabumi dan (2) untuk mengetahui kendala-kendala yang dihadapi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Palabuhanratu Kabupaten Sukabumi dalam menulis teks anekdot melalui teknik superioritas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan dua kelas. Satu kelas eksperimen, dan satu kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini diujikan pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Palabuhanratu Kabupaten Sukabumi. Nilai rata- rata tes awal siswa pada kelas eksperimen adalah 57,7 sedangkan pada kelas kontrol adalah 49,8. Nilai tes akhir siswa pada kelas eksperimen adalah 76,7 sedangkan pada kelas kontrol adalah 60,7. Hasil dari uji-t diperoleh harga to = 2,92 dan db = 50 dengan taraf signifikansi 5% sebesar 2,01 serta tt taraf signifikansi 1% 2,68. Apabila dituliskan menjadi 2,01 lebih kecil dari 2,92 lebih besar dari 2,68. Hasil uji-t menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik superioritas berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks cerita anekdot pada siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Palabuhanratu Kabupaten Sukabumi. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik superioritas ini terbukti efektif meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis teks anekdot.

Abstract

The research focus was the morphological process of affixation which were correct and incorrect in descriptive texts. It was conducted to the students of SMPN 1 Leuwiliang grade VII, in the district of Bogor. The method employed was qualitative descriptive. The data was taken from descriptive texts written by the students of grade VII at SMPN 1 Leuwiliang, in the district of Bogor. The result shows that there were 93 data from 31 descriptive texts. From the 93 data there were 142 affixed words, such as ber-, meN-, peN-, di-, –an, and –kan. Based on the analysis, the affixes that were correct according to morphological process were 115 words and those which were incorrect were 27 words. The correct affixed words were ber- as many as 22 words (19,13%), words with affix meN- were 41 words (35,65%), affix peN- were 8 words (6,95%), affix di- were 21 words (18,26%), affix –an were 14 words (12,17%), and affix –kan were 9 words (7,82%). The words containing incorrect affixes were words with the affix of ber- as many as 2 words (7,40%), affix meN- were 6 words (22,22%), affix peN- were 3 words (11,11%), affix di- were 12 words (44,44%), affix –an was 1 word (3,70%), and affix –kan were 3 words (11,11%). Therefore, the affixation in morphological process in the descriptive texts written by the students of grade VII at SMPN 1 Leuwiliang, in the district of Bogor, contained affixes and the most frequently and correctly used was the affix of meN- which were as many as 41 words (35,65%). The affix that was frequently used but incorrectly was the affix of di- which were as many as 12 words (44,44%).

Abstract

LEARNING MODELS THINK TALK WRITE (TTW) AND TWO STAY TWO STRAY (TSTS) IN IMPROVING STUDENT BIOLOGY LEARNING OUTCOMESThis research is a class action research. The purpose of this research is to improve the learning outcomes of biological material, viruses and protists. The study was conducted in September-November 2018 in class X SMAN 1 Caringin 2018/2019 school year with a total of 36 students. The action research process is carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of four stages namely planning, implementing, observing / observing and reflecting. The end of each cycle is carried out tests with instruments that have been validated and tested for reliability. This research involves researchers, observers and the object under study. Based on observations before the research was conducted, the value of student learning outcomes in the last 2 years which reached the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) was only 58.53% and 53.66% after classroom action research using the Think Talk Write (TTW) and Two models Stay Two Stray (TSTS), the value of the Biology learning outcomes of students in cycle I was 72.22% and increased to 82.93% in cycle 2. The attitudes learning outcomes after taking action in cycle I attitudes learning outcomes increased by an average of an average of 74.83 with a percentage of 69.44%, in cycle 2 attitudes learning outcomes increased to 77.67 with a percentage of attainment attitudes 78.05%. The results of learning skills in cycle 1 reached 74.92 with a percentage of achieving 80.55% skills, in cycle 2 the results of learning skills increased to 78.02 with a percentage of achievement of 86.11%. Based on the results achieved, this study produces the conclusion that by using Think Talk Write (TTW) and Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Learning Models can Improve Biological Learning Outcomes of Grade X students of SMAN 1 Caringin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dengan pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan secara kolaboratif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA tentang panas dan perpindannya pada suhu dan kalor di kelas V B SD Negeri Kawung Luwuk Bogor melalui penerapan model Model Pembelajaran Demonstrasi. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V B SD Negeri Kawung Luwuk Bogor sebanyak 25 siswa, dengan komposisi perempuan 8 siswa dan laki-laki 17 siswa. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Teknik dan alat pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif terhadap data berupa dokumen hasil pekerjaan siswa, daftar nilai dan lembaran observasi Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Demonstrasi dapat menjadi variasi pembelajaran yang menyenangkan bagi peserta didik sehingga terbukti meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik di Kelas V B SD Negeri Kawung Luwuk Bogor. Sebelum menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Demonstrasi  hasil belajar peserta didik hanya mencapai nilai rata-rata 65,20 kemudian terjadi peningkatan setelah menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Demonstrasi menjadi 73,20 pada siklus 1 dan 81,20  pada siklus 2. Oleh  karena itu penerapan Model Pembelajaran Demonstrasi yang disesuaikan dengan  materi pembelajaran dapat menciptakan situasi belajar yang menyenangkan sehingga terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan PCK mahasiswa calon guru biologi pada materi metabolisme. Hal yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah kenyataan di lapangan banyak ditemukan guru dan mahasiswa calon guru biologi yang memiliki kemampuan pedagogik rendah sementara penguasaan konsep tinggi, sebaliknya ada juga yang teknik mengajar bagus, tetapi memiliki kelemahan dalam penguasaan konsep. Solusi dari kondisi tersebut adalah mahasiswa calon guru biologi harus memiliki kemampuan PCK, agar bisa mengkombinasikan pengetahuan pedagogik dan pengetahuan konten, sehingga bisa meningkatkan kualitas PBM. Jenis dan metoda penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, adalah penelitian deskriptif, yang bertujuan  untuk menggambarkan keadaan fenomena-fenomena yang ditemukan dan dideskripsikan apa adanya, tidak dimodifikasi atau diberi perlakuan. Desain penelitian menggunakan desain triangulasi, di mana peneliti mengumpulkan secara bersama data kualitatif dan kuantitatif, membandingkan hasilnya dan kemudian menggunakan temuan untuk melihat apakah saling memvalidasi satu sama lain. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa calon guru biologi Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi yang terdaftar di semester VII, FKIP UNWIR sebanyak 27 orang. Sedangkan sampelnya sebanyak 6 orang, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel teknik purposive sampling, artinya peneliti mengambil sampel tersebut berdasarkan pertimbangan yang sesuai dengan maksud dan tujuan penelitian serta meganggap sampel tersebut representatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ke-enam mahasiswa calon guru biologi berada pada level PCK yang berbeda yaitu : SNK, BG, AA, DN dan ND berada pada level Growing PCK, dan SS berada pada level Pra PCK.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate some factors hindering Sundanesse in learning English pronunciation. This research attempts to answer the following research questions: What are the factors affecting Sundanesse in learning English pronunciation? The participants of this study are 30 students who are still in the second semester in English Education Study Program, Pakuan University. The data were collected through documentation in a form of audio recording, and in-depth interview with six representative participants. The major findings of this study are: There are three major factors affecting Sundanesse in learning English pronunciation, among others are; Mother tongue influence, Age and Target language exposure (2) The difficulties faced by Sundanesse in learning English pronunciation are mostly in terms of segmental features; such as vowels, consonants and diphthong, and supra-segmental features like intonation, stress and linking sound.
