Abstract

Anxiety often appears in the third trimester of pregnancy. Pregnant women may feel anxious about their baby's and their own life, worry that the baby will be born prematurely or abnormally, and fear the pain and physical dangers of childbirth. These anxieties often lead to sleep difficulties. Hypnobirthing therapy is an alternative complementary therapy that can help pregnant women feel more comfortable and relaxed. The objective of the research is to determine the effects of Hypnobirthing therapy in reducing anxiety and sleep disturbances in third-trimester pregnant women in the Putri Ayu Health Center, Jambi City. The method involves applying Hypnobirthing therapy to these women. The results show that after three days of Hypnobirthing relaxation therapy, anxiety levels decreased, as evidenced by the reduction in the Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale (PASS) score from 23 (moderate anxiety) before the intervention to 8 (mild anxiety) after the intervention. Additionally, sleep pattern disturbances were resolved. The conclusion is that Hypnobirthing therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels and sleep disturbances in third-trimester pregnant women. It is recommended that health workers apply Hypnobirthing therapy to help manage anxiety and sleep issues in pregnant women.

Abstract

Managing hypertension in older adults involves not only medication but also non-pharmacological approaches to support effective blood pressure management. One alternative approach that has gained attention is laughter therapy. Laughter is known to have relaxing effects, improve blood circulation, and reduce stress hormones, all of which contribute to lowering blood pressure. This study aims to investigate the effect of laughter therapy on blood pressure reduction in elderly individuals with hypertension at the Tresna Werdha Budi Luhur Social Home in Jambi Province. The research employs a Quasi-Experimental Pre and Post Test Control Group Design, involving 32 respondents divided into two groups (treatment and control), with sessions conducted three times a week for one month. Data were collected using observation sheets and standard operating procedures (SOP) for laughter therapy through total sampling. The results show a significant difference in blood pressure before and after laughter therapy in the treatment group, with a p-value of 0.002 (p-value < 0.005) according to the Wilcoxon test. The conclusion of this study indicates that laughter therapy significantly lowers blood pressure in elderly individuals with hypertension. Therefore, this therapy is effective as a non-pharmacological care approach for hypertensive patients, especially the elderly.

Abstract

Mothers with diabetes have a risk of giving birth to macrosomic babies and they are vulnerable to experiencing pressure or stress.  In stressful conditions, a person needs a way to deal with the stress they face, which is known as a stress coping strategy. This study aims to describe the coping strategies used by mothers with diabetes from pregnancy to giving birth to macrosomic babies. This research method is a case study of an informant (Mrs. L) who gave birth to a baby with a birth weight of 4.8 kg and was treated in the NICU because of experiencing seizures. The data collection method for this research is semi-structured interviews. The main question of this research is how to describe the stress coping strategies of mothers with diabetes who are pregnant and give birth to macrosomic babies. The results of this research can illustrate the stress coping strategies of mothers with diabetes in facing various challenges ranging from accepting their pregnancy to accompanying macrosomic babies who need medical care. The emotional-focused coping and religious coping strategies used by the informants are more to manage emotions as a form of surrender and hope for God’s help. However, the informant also used problem-focused coping strategies while monitoring the health of herself and the unborn baby by routinely checking her pregnancy. Another form of problem-focused coping is that when the baby was being treated in the NICU, the informant tried to ensure that the macrosomia baby got the right medical care.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is characterized by high blood sugar levels. Puskesmas USA is one of the health centers located in Bone Regency, where in 2021, around 71 patients sought treatment with high blood sugar levels and were diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between gender, occupation, stress level, and sleep duration with blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients at Puskesmas USA, Bone Regency. This research uses an analytic survey method with a cross-sectional study design. The sample size for this study was 53 samples. The results of the analysis using the chi-square test in SPSS 21 showed that there is a significant relationship between gender (p value = 0.04), stress level (p value = 0.002), and sleep duration (p value = 0.004) with blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients. However, no relationship was found between occupation (p value = 0.744) and blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients. In conclusion, being female, having high stress levels, and inadequate sleep duration all contribute to increased blood sugar levels, thereby increasing the risk of Diabetes Mellitus. These findings emphasize the importance of lifestyle management and regular check-ups to prevent further complications. It is recommended to implement a screening program for the local community with a high risk of Diabetes Mellitus for early detection and prevention, including education on the risks of diabetes and the importance of regular health check-ups.

Abstract

Abstract

Risk factors for skin diseases include clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), environmental sanitation conditions, availability of clean water, cleanliness of the body, nails, skin, clothing, and bed conditions. Transmission of skin diseases can occur through environmental components that contain disease agents and constantly interact with humans, namely water, air, food, and disease-transmitting insects and humans themselves. Residential density can also affect the process of disease transmission from one person to another (Achmadi, 2011). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between personal hygiene and dermatitis symptoms in prisoners at the Bungo Police Detention Center in 2024. The design of this study was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The number of samples in this study was 75 respondents. The results of the study on personal hygiene showed that 73.3% of prisoners with good personal hygiene did not experience symptoms of dermatitis. Based on the chi square statistical test, the p value was obtained = 0.000 <0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between personal hygiene and symptoms of dermatitis in prisoners at the Bungo Police detention center in 2024. It is hoped that prisoners at the Bungo Police detention center can maintain cleanliness in the detention center and personal hygiene.
