Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of data quality within the Management Information System (MIS) on the accuracy of pharmaceutical logistics planning at Prof. Dr. H. Aloei Saboe Regional Hospital. In the current era of healthcare digitalization, the precision of logistics planning is heavily dependent on the integrity of data generated by integrated systems. The research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design, collecting data through questionnaires distributed to respondents across planning, medical support, information technology, and pharmacy departments. Data were analyzed using univariate frequency distribution and bivariate Chi-Square statistical tests. The results indicate that the quality of data within the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) is predominantly perceived as good, which directly corresponds to a high level of accuracy in pharmaceutical logistics planning. The statistical analysis revealed a highly significant relationship between MIS data quality and planning accuracy, identifying data precision and real-time updates as the primary determinants of success. Consequently, the study concludes that superior data integrity within the system is essential for minimizing operational risks, such as medication stockouts and budgetary inefficiencies, thereby ensuring the reliability of regional healthcare delivery.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and remains a significant public health concern worldwide. In addition to pharmacological treatment, herbal therapies have gained increasing attention as complementary approaches for cholesterol management. Soursop leaves (Annona muricata) contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds that may contribute to lipid regulation. This study aimed to determine the effect of soursop leaf brewing on cholesterol levels among patients with hypercholesterolemia. A quantitative study with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted from August to September 2025 at the West Limboto Community Health Center, Gorontalo, Indonesia. Thirty respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Cholesterol levels were measured before and after administration of soursop leaf brewing using an EasyTouch GCU device. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, and the paired-samples t-test with a significance level of 0.05. Most respondents were aged 30–59 years (96.7%) and female (73.3%). Following the intervention, cholesterol levels decreased in 28 respondents (93.3%), while 2 respondents (6.7%) experienced an increase. The normality test showed that the data were normally distributed (p = 0.360). The paired-samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between cholesterol levels before and after administration of soursop leaf brewing (p < 0.001). Soursop leaf brewing significantly reduced cholesterol levels among patients with hypercholesterolemia. These findings suggest that soursop leaf brewing may serve as a potential complementary non-pharmacological intervention for cholesterol management.

Abstract

Maternal anemia remains a major public health problem during pregnancy and is often associated with multiple micronutrient deficiencies. Multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS) has been recommended to improve maternal nutritional status and hemoglobin levels. This study aimed to determine the effect of MMS on hemoglobin status among pregnant women at Bulango Timur Public Health Center, Bone Bolango District. A quantitative study using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted based on secondary data from maternal health records. A total of 18 pregnant women who received MMS supplementation were included using total sampling. Hemoglobin status before and after supplementation was assessed and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test with a significance level of 0.05. Before MMS supplementation, 72.2% of participants had abnormal hemoglobin status, while 27.8% had normal status. After supplementation, the proportion of normal hemoglobin status increased to 77.8%, whereas abnormal status decreased to 22.2%. The mean hemoglobin status score increased from 1.278 ± 0.461 before supplementation to 1.778 ± 0.428 after supplementation. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a statistically significant difference between pre- and post-supplementation hemoglobin status (Z = 2.496, p = 0.013). MMS supplementation was significantly associated with improved hemoglobin status among pregnant women and may serve as a useful strategy for reducing anemia risk during pregnancy.

Abstract

Food security remains a critical challenge in Indonesia, particularly in ensuring access to nutritious foods capable of addressing chronic malnutrition and supporting sustainable community health. Gorontalo Province possesses abundant local food resources, including corn (Zea mays) and endemic Nike fish (Awaous melanocephalus), which have substantial potential for food diversification and nutritional enhancement. This study aimed to determine the proximate composition and evaluate the nutritional quality compliance of Corn and Nike Fish Biscuits (BIJAK) as an alternative local functional food product. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using laboratory-based proximate analysis. The parameters analyzed included moisture, ash, fat, protein (via the micro-Kjeldahl method), and carbohydrate contents (calculated by difference). Data were analyzed descriptively and compared with the quality requirements specified in the Indonesian National Standard for biscuits (SNI 2973:2011). The laboratory results revealed that BIJAK biscuits contained 9.14% moisture, 1.11% ash, 36.00% fat, 7.46% protein, and 43.89% carbohydrates. The ash and fat contents successfully complied with SNI requirements, whereas the moisture, protein, and carbohydrate contents did not meet the established standards. The exceptionally high fat content indicates considerable energy density, while the acceptable ash content validates the presence of beneficial minerals derived from the local ingredients. However, the high moisture retention and sub-optimal protein levels suggest that strict formulation optimization and mechanical processing standardizations are necessary. Overall, BIJAK biscuits demonstrate promising potential as a locally sourced food diversification product utilizing Gorontalo’s indigenous agricultural and fishery resources, provided that future structural refinements are implemented to stabilize its macronutrient balance.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem due to its long-term effects on children's physical growth, cognitive development, educational achievement, and future productivity. Maternal factors, particularly knowledge, attitudes, and actions related to child nutrition and care, play an important role in stunting prevention. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and actions and stunting prevention among mothers of children under five years of age in the working area of West Limboto Community Health Center, Gorontalo Regency. This study employed a quantitative analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 72 mothers of children under five years of age, and 42 respondents were selected as the sample. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square), and multivariate (binary logistic regression) analyses. The results showed that most respondents were aged 26–30 years (38.1%) and had completed senior high school education (61.9%). The majority demonstrated good knowledge (92.9%), positive attitudes (85.7%), and good stunting prevention practices (52.4%). Chi-Square analysis revealed significant relationships between maternal knowledge and stunting prevention (p = 0.000), maternal attitudes and stunting prevention (p = 0.000), and maternal actions and stunting prevention (p = 0.000). Multivariate analysis indicated that maternal knowledge, attitudes, and actions simultaneously influenced stunting prevention (p = 0.000; Exp(B) = 6.000). In conclusion, maternal knowledge, attitudes, and actions are significant determinants of stunting prevention. Strengthening maternal education and promoting appropriate childcare practices are essential for improving stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Alcohol consumption is known to influence lipid metabolism and may contribute to elevated triglyceride levels, which are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, pancreatitis, and other metabolic disorders. This study aimed to describe triglyceride levels among alcohol consumers in Tibawa District, Gorontalo Regency. A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted from July to August 2025. The study involved 30 alcohol consumers selected using purposive sampling. Venous blood samples were collected and analyzed using an enzymatic colorimetric method with a spectrophotometer to determine serum triglyceride levels. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequencies, percentages, means, minimum values, and maximum values. The results showed that most respondents were male (66.7%) and aged 10–18 years (63.3%). Triglyceride examination revealed that 29 respondents (96.7%) had normal triglyceride levels, while only 1 respondent (3.3%) had abnormal triglyceride levels. The mean triglyceride level was 141.70 ± 28.99 mg/dL, with a minimum value of 105 mg/dL and a maximum value of 215 mg/dL. These findings indicate that the majority of alcohol consumers in Tibawa District had triglyceride levels within the normal range, although abnormal triglyceride levels were identified in a small proportion of respondents. Continuous health education and monitoring are recommended to prevent future lipid metabolism disorders associated with alcohol consumption.
