Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the group guidance and counseling approach in improving students' social-emotional development through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The study was conducted by searching scientific articles from the Scopus, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar databases for the period 2021–2025. The literature selection process used the PRISMA flow, starting from 157 identified articles to produce 11 articles that met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that the group guidance and counseling approach is implemented in a structured and systematic manner through the stages of needs identification, service planning, group formation, intervention implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. Various techniques used include social emotional learning, role-playing, cinematherapy, and game media. The research findings show that group guidance and counseling services are effective in improving emotional regulation, emotional intelligence, empathy, social skills, peer relationships, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making, while also helping to reduce certain psychological and behavioral barriers. Thus, group guidance and counseling can be seen as an effective, adaptive, and strategic approach in supporting students' social-emotional development in educational environments.

Abstract

Abstract This study was motivated by the high incidence of domestic violence, which is closely linked to the psychological state of the perpetrators. This study analyzes the psychological state of domestic violence perpetrators while examining the role of Islamic Counseling (BKI) in addressing this issue. The approach used is descriptive qualitative employing semi-structured interviews with a perpetrator of domestic violence. The findings indicate that violent behavior is triggered by childhood experiences, authoritarian parenting, low emotional regulation skills, and maladaptive coping mechanisms such as emotional suppression. Psychological analysis indicates that the informant exhibits tendencies toward aggressive and impulsive behavior, such as the belief that violence is a normal way to resolve conflicts. The mentoring process through Islamic Guidance and Counseling successfully demonstrated increased self-awareness, strengthened emotional control, and fostered adaptive behavior through the integration of behavioral approaches with the reinforcement of spiritual values.
TIGA HUKUM, SATU ILMU: EPISTEMOLOGI INTEGRITY OF SCIENCE DALAM KONSELING ISLAM Samsul Arifin; M. Syakur

Abstract

This article proposes an epistemological framework for the development of Islamic Guidance and Counseling as a discipline situated at the intersection of modern counseling psychology and Islamic scholarly traditions. The central argument is that the integrity of science in Islamic counseling cannot be achieved through the mastery of a single method whether Western clinical techniques or literal adherence to religious texts but rather through a balanced proportionality among six sources of knowledge: revelation, reason, the senses, intuition, empirical experience, and scientific tradition. To operationalize this framework, the article examines two epistemic models derived from the body of thought of K.H.R. As'ad Syamsul Arifin, the leader of the Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo Islamic Boarding School: the taxonomy of three categories of judgment (aqli, shar'i, and 'adat), explicitly formulated as a pedagogical prerequisite in Risālah al-Tauḥīd (Arifin, 1973a); and a broader epistemic architecture encompassing spiritual, axiological, anthropological, and methodological dimensions traceable through his entire body of work and leadership practices. The study employs a qualitative-interpretive approach with a thematic analysis strategy applied to three layers of data: twelve primary written works, three biographies, and two collections of his teachings. The findings indicate that the taxonomy of three categories of judgment is not merely a doctrinal legacy of Ash'ari theology associated with the figure in question, but rather an epistemic structure consistently operationalized across various fields of knowledge and even explicitly utilized as a diagnostic criterion for assessing the validity of spiritual authority. The article argues that this type of proportionality offers an alternative to the methodological monism that restricts cross cultural counseling debates to a binary choice between clinical science and literal faith, while simultaneously providing a more explicit epistemic foundation for pesantren based counseling models such as at-tawazun (Arifin, 2012, 2020). The practical implication is the need for Islamic counseling practitioners to develop epistemic sensitivity regarding how religious clients classify their problems based on the sources of knowledge they deem relevant.

Abstract

Career-determining path represents a critical developmental stage for final-year high school students. At this stage, they are required to make important decisions that will influence their future educational and career trajectories. Nevertheless, many students experience uncertainty and confusion due to an insufficient understanding of their own potential, interests, and abilities.. This study aims to analyze the implementation of career guidance and counseling (BK) services, the utilization of Academic Ability Test (TKA) results, students’ career self-efficacy levels, and efforts to optimize TKA-based career guidance and counseling services at State High School 1 Prajekan Bondowoso. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The results indicate that the guidance and counseling services have been running well and have gained students’ trust; however, career guidance and counseling services remain general in nature and are not yet systematically based on academic data. The utilization of TKA results is also not yet optimal because they are used primarily for administrative purposes. In addition, students’ career self-efficacy still varies due to internal and external factors. These findings indicate that integrating the TKA into career guidance and counseling services can contribute to improving students’ career self-efficacy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the psychological, academic, and social barriers that trigger final project procrastination among students of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting (KPI) Study Program at Ibrahimy University. As an institution integrated with the Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo Islamic Boarding School, students carry a dual burden encompassing university academic demands and the standardization of Islamic boarding school competencies. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive case study design. The research subjects involved four final-year students who experienced a delay in completing their thesis for one to three years. The results indicated that the root causes of procrastination include cognitive overload due to confusion regarding supervisors' revisions, role conflict resulting from high off-campus organizational activities, and psychological barriers caused by failing the Quran reading competency exam. These conditions triggered students' withdrawal from the academic environment. This study concludes that the synergy of dialogic-humanistic interpersonal communication from supervisors and the head of the study program, along with the implementation of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) counseling interventions, has proven effective. This approach successfully reduced anxiety, unraveled students' obstacles into concrete action steps, and restored their focus on completing their final projects.
