Abstract

Sciatica is a lumbosacral radicular pain condition that often leads to functional limitations and decreased quality of life. Acupuncture with electrical stimulation is one of the non-pharmacological therapies used in the management of sciatica. The dense–disperse mode of electroacupuncture is reported to provide a more stable analgesic effect through alternating low- and high-frequency stimulation. This study aimed to describe the benefits of acupuncture care using dense–disperse electrical stimulation in reducing pain among sciatica patients at BSA Acupuncture Clinic, Depok. This study employed a descriptive design involving sciatica patients who received acupuncture therapy with dense–disperse electrical stimulation based on standard acupuncture protocols. Pain reduction was evaluated during the treatment period. The results indicated that acupuncture care with dense–disperse electrical stimulation contributed to improvement in pain complaints among sciatica patients. This therapy may serve as a safe and effective non-pharmacological alternative for pain management in sciatica cases in clinical acupuncture settings.

Abstract

Leucaena leucocephala belongs to the family Leguminosae and is one of the fastest-growing leguminous trees. L. leucocephala leaves have a great potential as an alternative protein source for animal feed. However, the presence of anti-nutritional compounds, such as mimosine and tannins, limits their direct utilisation by animals, as these compounds can reduce nutrient digestibility and impair animal performance. Ensiling has been widely recognised as an effective processing method to reduce these compounds. This study evaluated the proximate composition, fibre fractions, mineral composition, and anti-nutritional compounds of unensiled (fresh) and ensiled L. leucocephala leaves from Wondergraze and Taramba varieties to assess their potential as animal feed resources. Overall, the ensiling process significantly influenced the nutritional profiles of L. leucocephala leaves in both Wondergraze and Tarramba varieties. Ensiling enhanced crude protein content while reducing crude fibre, NDF and moisture levels, indicating improved digestibility and feed intake potential. Although slight reductions in ash content, gross energy and certain minerals were observed, most nutrients were largely retained, suggesting that fermentation did not compromise the overall nutritional value of the forage. Varietal differences were evident, with Wondergraze demonstrating better fibre preservation and smaller energy losses compared to Tarramba, highlighting its potentially superior fermentation efficiency. Importantly, ensiling markedly reduced anti-nutritional compounds, particularly mimosine and tannins, thereby improving feed safety and suitability. These findings demonstrate that ensiling is an effective processing method to enhance the nutritional quality and practical utilisation of L. leucocephala leaves as animal feeds, while also revealing cultivar-specific responses that are valuable for targeted feed formulation and forage management strategies.

Abstract

Stunting is a major health problem in the Indonesian archipelago, such as in the Maratua Island District, due to limited sanitation and access to health services. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal hygiene practices and household environmental conditions with the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Using a quantitative analytical observational cross-sectional design, the population of all mothers of toddlers aged 0-4 years (n=54) was taken by total sampling. Data were collected through a PHBS questionnaire, environmental observations, and WHO anthropometric Z-scores, analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that 100% of toddlers were stunted (75.9% were short, 24.1% were very short), but there was no significant relationship between maternal hygiene practices (ρ=-0.031; p=0.825) or the home environment (ρ=0.139; p=0.317) with stunting. Stunting is multifactorial, so the conclusion recommends integrated interventions including nutrition, sanitation, and socioeconomic factors for effective prevention in the archipelago.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (PDP Law) in the management of data on the DKI Jakarta Online Tax website. The research problem focuses on data governance, protection mechanisms, access restrictions, fulfillment of data subject rights, and preparedness for incident response. The study employs a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with officials and system and data administrators at the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) and the Tangerang Regency Regional Revenue Agency. The findings indicate that Bapenda collects personal data such as National Identification Numbers (NIK), names, addresses, marital status, and other personal information for the purposes of taxpayer validation and policy formulation. Data protection measures are implemented through encryption, role-based access control, activity monitoring and logging, as well as periodic security audits. Mechanisms for taxpayer services have been established to facilitate requests for data access, rectification, and objections in accordance with the provisions of the PDP Law. In addition, Bapenda has established incident response procedures implemented by an internal Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) through processes of identification, analysis, recovery, and notification within 3×24 hours in the event of a data breach. The challenges encountered include harmonization between the PDP Law and government archival regulations, as well as the enhancement of security awareness and literacy among employees and taxpayers. This study concludes that the implementation of personal data protection on the DKI Jakarta Online Tax website has generally been effective; However, further improvements are required in data retention policies and the formal appointment of a Data Protection Officer.

Abstract

Soil strength plays a crucial role in construction and geotechnical engineering. Weak soils, such as soft clay, often exhibit low bearing capacity, necessitating ground improvement techniques to ensure structural stability. One promising method for soil reinforcement involves the use of natural fibers, particularly coconut coir, which can be chemically treated to enhance its bonding with soil particles. This study investigates the effect of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) treatment on coconut coir fibers and its influence on the splitting tensile strength of a soil–fiber mixture. Coconut coir fibers, measuring 3–5 cm in length and incorporated at a content of 0.6%, were soaked in NaOH solutions of varying concentrations (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) for three hours prior to mixing. The treatment aimed to roughen the fiber surface and improve mechanical interlocking with the soil matrix. Splitting tensile strength tests were conducted following the SNI-2491 standard, with three specimens prepared for each NaOH concentration. The results indicate that NaOH treatment did not significantly enhance the splitting tensile strength of the soil–fiber mixture. The highest average splitting tensile strength, 33.48 kPa, was observed in samples reinforced with untreated fibers (0% NaOH). These findings suggest that, for coconut coir fibers of this size and content, chemical treatment with NaOH may not be necessary for improving soil tensile performance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of product design and country of origin on purchase decisions, with price discount as a moderating variable, in the context of Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners in Medan, Indonesia. A quantitative explanatory approach was applied using purposive sampling. Data were collected from 400 consumers who had purchased Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners and were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that product design and country of origin do not significantly influence purchase decisions. In contrast, price discount has a strong and significant positive effect on purchase decisions. The moderating role of price discount on the relationship between product design and purchase decision is not supported. These results suggest that economic considerations, particularly promotional pricing strategies, are more influential than intrinsic product attributes or country-of-origin perceptions in shaping consumer decisions about durable home electronics in competitive markets.

Abstract

The study of the Prophet's hadith encompasses not only the authenticity of sanad and matan but also the methodology of understanding (syarh) employed by Muslim scholars in their commentaries. This study aims to examine the implementation of three hadith commentary methods, namely the tahlili, ijmali, and muqarin methods, and their relevance in the academic development of hadith studies. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research, with data collected from authoritative hadith commentary books and relevant hadith methodology literature. The findings indicate that each of the three methods has distinct characteristics, strengths, and limitations. The tahlili method provides comprehensive and in-depth understanding of each hadith but is susceptible to partial and subjective interpretation. The ijmali method offers concise and accessible explanations, yet is limited in analytical scope. The muqarin method provides broader insights through comparative analysis of hadith texts and scholarly opinions, although it is less suitable for novice readers. This study concludes that the selection of an appropriate commentary method depends on the research objective, the target audience, and the contextual problem under investigation, so that a comprehensive and contextual understanding of hadith can be optimally achieved.
