Abstract

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) commonly affects workers with repetitive hand motions, causing pain, tingling, and impaired hand function due to median nerve compression. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of combined tendon & nerve gliding exercises, neuromuscular taping, and acupuncture in reducing pain and improving wrist function in CTS patients. A quasi-experimental pre-post test design was applied to CTS patients aged 20-60 years at Binawan University, with interventions twice weekly for 3-4 weeks (gliding exercises 5-10 reps, taping 3-5 days, acupuncture at LI-4, PC-6, etc., 20-30 min/session). Assessments used VAS pain, BCTQ function, goniometer ROM, and MMT. Results revealed significant pain reduction (VAS from 4-5 to 1-2), improved ROM (dorsiflexion 10-20°), muscle strength gain (MMT up 1-2 grades), and BCTQ scores shifting from moderate to mild. The combination effectively reduced adhesions, enhanced nerve mobility, and promoted Qi circulation per TCM principles. In conclusion, this integrative approach is safe and effective for mild-moderate CTS, recommended as conservative therapy prior to surgery. Larger-scale studies are warranted.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principal leadership and academic supervision on teachers’ teaching performance at SMA Negeri 1 Bitung, both partially and simultaneously. This research employed a quantitative approach using an explanatory research method. The population consisted of all civil servant teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Bitung, totaling 31 individuals, with a saturated sampling technique (total sampling) applied. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire using a Likert scale that had been tested for validity and reliability, and were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS software. The results indicate that: (1) principal leadership has a positive and significant partial effect on teachers’ teaching performance, with a value of 3.106 > 2.048; (2) academic supervision has a positive and significant partial effect on teachers’ teaching performance, with a value of 4.002 > 2.048; and (3) simultaneously, principal leadership and academic supervision have a significant effect on teachers’ teaching performance, with a value of 50.008 > 3.34. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.625 indicates that these two independent variables contribute 62.5% to the variation in teachers’ teaching performance, while the remaining proportion is influenced by other factors outside the research model. These findings emphasize that the synergy between supportive leadership styles and well-planned academic supervision is a key factor in enhancing teacher professionalism and the quality of learning in schools.

Abstract

Marsegu Island in Kotania Bay, West Seram Regency, Maluku Province, holds remarkable ecological potential that is worth developing as a sustainable marine ecotourism destination. This study aims to analyze land suitability and carrying capacity and formulate development strategies for marine ecotourism activities covering swimming, fishing, and boating. Data were collected during August–September 2024 through biophysical parameter measurements at three observation stations, supplemented by interviews, questionnaires, and field observations. Tourism suitability was calculated using the Tourism Suitability Index (TSI), carrying capacity using the Carrying Capacity (CC) formula, and strategy prioritization using descriptive integrated analysis. Results indicate that fishing and boating tourism at all three stations fall under category S1 (highly suitable), while swimming tourism at two stations is classified as S1 and one station as S2 (suitable). Carrying capacity ranges from 21–59 visitors/day for swimming, 100–120 visitors/day for fishing, and 144–160 boat units/day for boating tourism. The results of this study recommend that the zoning system be implemented as a policy strategy for the development of marine ecotourism on Marsegu Island, with 4 zoning directions and 6 policy recommendations. Integrated management based on carrying capacity principles and zoning systems is fundamental to ensuring the long-term sustainability of ecotourism in this area.

Abstract

Maritime transport supports 80% of global trade, but inconsistent lifeboat maintenance threatens emergency safety, especially on Indonesian short voyage vessels such as the MV Tanto Bersinar. This study identifies factors inhibiting lifeboat maintenance optimization and proposes procedures in accordance with SOLAS. Using a qualitative descriptive method, purposive sampling targeted key crew (Third Officer, Third Engineer) for 12 months through interviews, observations, literature studies, and documentation. Data analysis followed reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results found davit corrosion, wire rope friction, no engine test-run, incomplete PMS documentation, and limited short voyage time as gaps to SOLAS III/20 and MSC.402(96). Optimization requires scheduled operational tests, certified training, and spare parts stock. The conclusion recommends strengthening the PMS and authorized servicing for lifeboat readiness, minimizing evacuation risks

Abstract

The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI), as an auxiliary state institution, faces effectiveness challenges due to the recommendatory nature of its legal products. On the other hand, Islamic civilization has the institution of Wilayatul Mazhalim, known for its imperative executive-judicial power in restoring the people's rights from the tyranny of the ruler. This study aims to analyze the philosophical nature of the Ombudsman, dissect the working mechanisms of Wilayatul Mazhalim, and formulate a formulation for repositioning the Ombudsman's functions and authorities in the future through a dialectical comparative study. This legal research uses a juridical-normative method with a statutory approach, a conceptual approach, and a comparative legal approach. The data used are secondary data obtained using library methods and data analysis is carried out using qualitative methods. The results of the study indicate that the current executive weaknesses of the Ombudsman are rooted in its low constitutional position and the Magistrate of Influence paradigm that is inadequate for Indonesian bureaucratic culture. A dialectical synthesis with Wilayatul Mazhalim offers a repositioning model in which the Ombudsman is granted "coercive" authority in the form of reversal of administrative decisions and direct sanctions. The conclusion is that repositioning the Ombudsman as an institution with imperative authority is essential to achieving substantive justice. This strengthening is achieved through constitutional amendments and the transformation of recommendations into binding decisions, in line with the spirit of civil rights protection in the Islamic legal tradition.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of the inner foundation in the Ambon City Financial Services Authority (OJK) Office Building based on field data in the form of boring logs and Standard Penetration Test (SPT) results. The evaluation focused on axial bearing capacity, lateral resistance, and foundation degradation to assess the level of safety and reliability of the foundation system against working loads. The types of foundations analyzed included drilled pile foundations and piles with variations in diameter of 60 cm and 80 cm and depths of 18 m and 25 m. The bearing capacity analysis of the drill pile was carried out using the Reese & O'Neil and Reese & Wright methods, while the bearing capacity of the pile was calculated using the Coyle & Castello and Schmertmann methods. Lateral resistance was analyzed using the Broms method, and the estimated decline was calculated using a semi-empirical approach. The results showed that there was a difference in carrying capacity, lateral resistance, and the magnitude of the decline between the drill pile and the pile which was influenced by the size of the pile and the characteristics of the local soil. In general, the increase in the diameter and depth of the mast contributes to an increase in bearing capacity and lateral resistance and reduces the potential for degradation. These findings confirm that the selection of foundation types must consider the specific geotechnical conditions of the location in order to be able to provide optimal and safe structural performance. Keywords: drill pile foundation, pile, bearing capacity, lateral resistance, lowering, foundation evaluation.

Abstract

The Indonesian maritime sector is highly dependent on main engine performance, where lubricant oil (LO) cooler temperature affects exhaust gas stability. This study analyzes the causal relationship between LO cooler temperature (X) and main engine exhaust gas (Y) on MV Logindo Overcomer. Using a quantitative causal-comparative approach, data were collected from 10 purposively selected engine room crew members during 12 months of Sailing Practice through Likert scale questionnaires, observations, and engine logbooks. SPSS v.27 analysis showed descriptive statistics (X: mean=52.50; Y: mean=37.70), highly valid/reliable instruments (Cronbach's α >0.90), regression equation Y=8.423+0.558X, coefficient of determination 71.6%, and Spearman correlation r=0.894 (p=0.000). The results prove a very strong influence of LO cooler temperature on exhaust gas stability. The conclusion recommends regular cleaning of the LO cooler, replacement of accurate thermometers, real-time monitoring, and crew training to prevent combustion inefficiency and overheating, similar to the case of KM Pratiwi Raya

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principals’ adaptive leadership and the school psychological environment on teacher creativity in instructional implementation at Muhammadiyah Junior High School Manado. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving the entire teacher population of 35 individuals through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression. The results indicate a strong relationship among the variables, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.768 and a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.590, meaning that 59% of the variation in teacher creativity can be explained by adaptive leadership and the psychological environment. Partially, adaptive leadership has a significant effect (t = 3.219), as does the school psychological environment (t = 3.607), which demonstrates a relatively greater contribution. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence teacher creativity, with an F-value of 23.187. In conclusion, flexible school leadership and a supportive work atmosphere are crucial factors in fostering teacher innovation in designing and implementing the learning process.
