Abstract

Feed is one of the most important factors in ruminant maintenance efforts, the success and failure of livestock business is largely determined by the feed given. Grass must be provided by breeders as the main feed for livestock every day. Additional feed must also be given to increase nutrition so that livestock meat grows faster. Additional feed such as bran, ingredients, concentrates, cassava, tofu dregs and others. The farmer took the initiative to mix the grass with additional feed to save costs. Before mixing, the grass must be chopped (chopped) first, so that the mixing process is easy to do. Every day the farmer must provide sufficient amount of grass for animal feed ingredients. In an effort to provide ruminant feed, breeders need tools so that in the process of chopping the grass even though it is large and the time and energy spent is still efficient. Therefore, a grass chopper is needed by breeders. In general, the lawn chopper consists of a motor that functions as a driver, transmission system, casing, frame shaft, and chopper blade. Things that must be considered in the manufacture of this grass chopper is how to make a machine with a strong frame, sharp knife to cut several times, ergonomic, affordable and easy to get on the market.

Abstract

In a flight process requires many systems that are required to work properly so that in the flight process there are no obstacles or damage that causes accidents that can be detrimental from all aspects, especially the loss of human life. Aviation safety facilities must be alive for 24 hours, so that if there is a power cut from PLN, the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) as a backup that provides electricity supply will work automatically to provide supply to the aircraft communication system to keep it alive. However, UPS only lasts 30 minutes to supply electricity to the load and sometimes if problems occur such as loss of electricity supply from PLN, generators or UPS, the aircraft communication system at Halu Oleo airport will be very disrupted. Therefore, so that the aircraft communication system continues to live, a system is created that can help the Halu Oleo airport Navigation Telecommunication Technician in controlling the electricity supply in the airport tower halu oleo so that it does not die. In the early stages thepins Input and Output will initialize what is needed. must be done, then the current sensor will read how much current is entering the UPS load if the current has been read, the system from the GSM module will send the message SUPPLY CONNECTED LOADS but if the current is not read by the current sensor then the GSM module will send a message that the load SUPPLY is disconnected and The buzzer will flash intermittently for 10 minutes. If within 10 minutes there is no action from the technician, the system will automatically make a telephone call.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the value of thermal conductivity of a composite material made from Polyester Resin (R), Aren Fiber (I) and a some water and epoxy. Composite materials used in this work have been made based on the ASTM C177. Experimental apparatus used in this study consists of a source of heat (150 Watt), thermocouple, digital balance and stopwatch. The main materials on this study consist of the three variations of composition, 40%, 50% and 60% I/R (by volume) respectively. This work begins with preparation of the three specimen materials of each composition. All specimen have been made in 30cm x 30cm x 1 cm size of length, width and thickness, respectively, and investigated the properties of the composites at several spatial and time during applied some energy source. Investigation was conducted at ambient temperatures and pressure at each 1 minute for 120 minute of heating. Density of each composites composition was also measured for the same size of all specimen of 5cm x 5cm x 1cm with standard ASTM C 2005, respectively. The results of the study show that the properties of the composite material varies with material-based compositions. The higher the Resin the better the thermal conductivity of the composites. Volume fraction of 40% I/R has thermal conductivity (k) of 1.235 W / m ° C, volume fraction of 50% I/R has thermal conductivity of 1.129 W / m ° C and volume fraction of 60% I/R has Thermal conductivity of 1.077 W / m ° C. The density of the specimens of the volume fraction of 40%, 50% and 60%I/Ris 1177.962 kg / m³, 1155.386 kg/m³ and 1144.662 kg/m³ respectively. The result of analysis also shows that composition of 60% I/R seems to be the appropriate material isolator using in many engineering applications based on the lower thermal conductivity and lower density.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the elements copper (Cu) on the mechanical properties of aluminum silicon (Al-Si). The mechanical properties of aluminum are lightweight, low temperature, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties vary (strength, hardness and ductility), good formability, and capable of a good cast. While the mechanical properties of copper are formability, good electrical conductivity, good thermal conductivity, good corrosion resistance, has a density of 8.93 g / cm³, the modulus of elasticity of 115 GPa and liquid temperature 1083 ° C. Materials used were Al-Si and the element copper alloy. The addition of the element copper (Cu) amounting to, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8%. Manufacturing of specimens with sand casting process. Mechanical testing were hardness and impact. In this study get the biggest hardness value alloy Al - Si addressed by the addition of Cu 0% or without alloy of 96.53 Kg / mm2, while the lowest hardness value of alloy Al - Si indicated by the addition of 2% Cu at 63.74 Kg / mm² , The strength values impack alloy Al - Si addressed by the addition of 8% Cu 0.026 J / mm2, while the value of impact strength low alloy Al - Si Cu indicated by the addition of 6% of 0,018 J / mm².

Abstract

One technology that can be used to move water from a low place to a high place is a water pump without the use of electricity and fuel (Hydraulyc Ram/Hydraulic Pump). A water pump without the use of electricity and fuel (Hydraulyc Ram/Hydram Pump) is an automatic pumping device that uses water to lift some of the water flow to a higher place. The energy source for water pumps without the use of electricity and fuel (Hydraulyc Ram / Hydram Pumps) comes from high pressure which is caused by the phenomenon of water blowing due to a sudden change in speed of the water flow by closing the valve, so this pump does not require an external energy supply such as fuel oil or electricity. This article presents a report on the design, manufacture and performance field testing of hydraulic pumps. The test results show that the pump design can drain 0.3 liters/second of water with a maximum head of 8.1 meters and a distance of 10.5 meters. By looking at the potential for its use which is quite broad, research to optimize this pump needs to be continuously carried out in order to obtain a design that is quite accurate in accordance with field conditions in Indonesia.

Abstract

Lifting equipment is a tool that can alleviate human tasks in terms of the removal objects that have a weight beyond human ability. Mechanical Engineering laboratory of Halu Oleo University (UHO) has lifting equipment with 500 Kg capacity, but construction of this model is not stable and faltered when lifting the weights. This study aim to improve the ability of this equipment for several purposes as well as to produce a draft model of lifting equipment more powerful, economical and has a good aesthetic design. This study was a static load simulation model using COMSOL Multiphysics. Three variations model (model 1, model 2 and model 3) of the construction were simulated with 500 kg of loads. Power stress distributions on the support constructions is the main point in this research for the powerful and useful construction. Furthermore, the good aesthetic designs the important parameter involving on this models. Result of this study shows that the portable crane existing on the Mechanical laboratories needs some improvements on construction, model and aesthetics for 5000kg loads. Model 3 has more powerful and economically construction as well as better aesthetic value than another models investigated.

Abstract

The need for spices continues to increase in line with the increasing population of the growing industrial world that requires raw materials from nutmeg seeds, the parts that are utilized in nutmeg fruit are mainly the pulp, seed shell, seed coat and fruit flesh. The design of this dryer aims to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the process of drying raw materials in the community. This tool uses an electric motor as the prime mover and uses a panel box as the center of the electrical control device, which contains several components such as a regulator to control the motor speed, an MCB to protect the voltage and other components. The results of testing this tool were quite good, the results of testing the ingredients at a weight of 200-205g in 75 minutes at a temperature of 100°C left a moisture content of 15.62% in nutmeg and 39.28% in candlenut. The cashew test was carried out at a weight of 200-205g in 50 minutes at a temperature of 72.2°C leaving 50.49% moisture content. The cassava test was carried out at a weight of 200-205g in 25-29 minutes at a temperature of 122°C leaving 60.90% moisture content. Testing on corn cobs was carried out at a weight of 200-205g in 25 minutes at a temperature of 119°C with a final weight of 124g. This tool has advantages, namely, it can save drying time, temperature control is easy to do and this tool has been equipped with a current safety device in the event of an electric short circuit. This tool also has drawbacks, namely, it cannot dry raw materials in the form of sheets, slices and powders. The drying tube is not long enough, so a manual continuous cycle is required, for raw materials that require drying time exceeding 25 minutes and requires more electric power.

Abstract

Along with the increasing demand for clam meat, this causes the waste of clam shells to accumulate and not be utilized which can pollute the environment and its surroundings. The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a shell crusher machine. The working principle of this shell crusher machine is that the crushing process is carried out by inserting the shells into the inlet which is crushed by the blade, then utilizing a gasoline motor as the main drive, where the rotation of the machine is continued by a series of main shafts consisting of blades, shafts, bearings, v-belts and pulleys, as the main components of the design of a shell crusher machine so that it can be processed to be used as animal feed and organic fertilizer which is good for plant health. From the results of the design and manufacture of this shell crusher tool it can crush every 1 kg of shellfish in 1 minute 53 seconds.

Abstract

The concept of Designing the Tools of Pipe Rolling Machines With Automatic and Manual Work Systems reflects on the design by means of several stages, including projeck definition, project preparation, product technical specifications, product concept planning, product design, to documents for manufacturing products. The next process is analyzing the needs of attention to consideration of planning requirements. Results from the Custom-Designed Tool of Pipe Rolling Machine used to accomplish automatic and manual harverting results: (1) making tool/machine with an efficient worksystem in automatic or manual: (2) The design of the tool or machine with this automatic and manual working system.

Abstract

Bricks are bricks made from a mixture of hydraulic adhesives added with fine aggregate and water without any other additives and have a cross-sectional area of ​​the holes of more than 25% of the cross-section of the bricks and the contents of the holes of more than 25% of the contents of the bricks. The purpose of this final project is to design a brick making machine using compressor pressure, design the selection of body materials and frames made of U iron, the main driver is the compressor and the wind work system from the compressor is channeled to the modified car tire pressure tube (tiptop tube) and then assembling the components, namely the frame, car tire pressure tubes (tiptop tubes), brick molds and brick dough container. The final design of the design of the brick making tool uses compressor pressure, namely the brick printing tool is driven by air pressure on the compressor which is connected to a car tire pressure tube (tiptop tube) then will press the mold and produce bricks according to the number of castings.
