Abstract

Rice husk is a waste from rice milling that can be utilized by most people, because rice husk contains nutrients and protein. Therefore, this rice husk has many uses, one of which is used as animal feed. To make it animal feed, it requires processing in a puree way so that it is easily digested by the livestock. Seeing this problem, it is necessary to make a rice husk smoothing machine. The working principle of the rice husk smoothing machine is carried out by inserting the rice husk into the inlet funnel which will be refined by the blade, then utilizing the gasoline motor as the prime mover, where the rotation of the machine is continued by a main shaft circuit consisting of 10 blades, the shaft with a diameter of 19 mm, a bearing size of 2.5 inches, V-belt type A 41, and a pulley diameter of 10 cm, as the main components of the rice husk smoothing machine. The capacity of the rice husk smoothing machine is 2400 kg within 8 hours/day of machine operation. The results of grinding the husks within 2 minutes of testing can grind an average of 0.90 kg of fine husks with a rotation of 4815 rpm. So in a day the rice husk smoothing machine can refine 2400 kg in 8 hours or a day of machine operation.

Abstract

The development of building construction always requires materials, machines (equipment) and work methods to increase the efficiency of work completion. Sand material which is the main building material in the manufacture of a construction structure. The work method for separation is generally carried out by sieving which aims to obtain uniform sand sizes. In this study, a sand sieving machine was designed using the translation method of shaft rotary motion. Procedures in the design of the sand sieving machine are carried out by collecting initial data and field requirements regarding the sand sieving machine, determining the effective mechanism of the sand sieving machine, analyzing the elements of the sand sieving machine, and determining the design of the sand sieving machine. The working system of the machine is designed to use an electric drive motor, a pulley belt transmission system is used to reduce the rotation of the motor, then the eccentric drive shaft is used to rotate the crank which in turn moves the pusher rod so that the sieve moves translationally. The frame design of this sand sieving machine uses square profile steel 40 mm x 40 mm with a thickness of 2 mm. The box profile steel is designed so that it becomes the support of several machine components including the sieves, the dimensions of the frame are 100 cm long, 70 cm high and 70 cm wide. The calculation results obtained that the shear stress that occurs on the shaft is smaller than the allowable stress. The sieving machine design uses a belt transmission and two pulleys to reduce the motor rotation to 509 rpm, this rotation is then converted into translational motion to move the sieve with a speed of 2.34 m/s.

Abstract

The characteristics of the flow passing over the structure affect the stability, aerodynamic design and response of the structure to the flow patterns passing over it. This study numerically examines the effects of using a splitter plate on the velocity pattern, pressure, aerodynamic forces and flow deformation at a Reynolds number of 104. This study used a 2D double-type flow splitter on the downstream side with a k-ε turbulent model using ANSYS FLUENT 18.2 software. Numerical simulation results show that the use of splitter plate has changed the flow pattern passing through the square cylinder which is indicated by the reduction of negative flow zone, pressure recovery, and decrease of drag force. The flow deformation pattern is different from the cylinder without a splitter plate. Numerical data are also shown in the form of flow contours to verify the graphical data shown in the present study. This study also shows that the use of a splitter plate also shows different grid sensitivity from a regular square cylinder, so the grid sensitivity validation-verification test of a cylinder with a splitter plate is not recommended for similar cases.

Abstract

The use of ice cubes is very important to preserve foodstuffs, especially for fishermen ice cubes play an important role in preserving marine catches such as fish, shrimp, squid and so on. The manufacture of this tool aims to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the process of crushing ice cubes. This tool uses a gasoline motor as the main mover, the pulley diameter on the motor is 7.62 cm and the pully diameter on the blade is 35 cm, the blade shaft diameter is 20 mm. Frame height and length 80 cm, frame width 41 cm. The funnel length is 100 cm, the funnel width and height are 30 cm. The knives on this shredder are 14 pieces with stainless steel. In the testing process, this tool was able to crush ice blocks of 56 kg within 2.8 minutes. There are several advantages of an  ice cube crusher that is portable or can be used anywhere, the process of crushing ice cubes uses a fast time. The disadvantages of this tool are that it requires human power to push the material so that the chopped results are maximum and even, during the testing process this tool has shifted, so it requires a prop on the foot to maintain the stability of the tool so as not to shift left, right and forward.

Abstract

The livestock sector is an important sector in the process of fulfilling food for the community. Livestock products are a source of animal protein, the demand for food from livestock in Indonesia continues to increase. Corn plants in Indonesia are very important as a source of carbohydrates and protein, corn is also in addition to being used as human food ingredients can also be used as animal feed, so the application of tools capable of producing animal feed is very necessary, especially those related to corn processing as fast and maximum animal feed with the aim of reducing damage and depreciation which is very closely related to the quality and quantity of feed products and the final result to be marketed. This corn grinding machine has two ways of operating, namely manually and mechanically. Mechanical milling technology, using a drive in the form of an electric motor (dynamo) or a self-driving motor in the form of a gasoline motor, and there is also using a crank as a drive (manual). In the process of grinding corn machine can produce 2kg = 3 minutes, in 1 hour 60 minutes. The capacity of the designed tool is 2 kg with a square-shaped grinding chamber, with a machine height of 92 cm, a frame height of 50 cm, and a frame width of 38 cm. In the process of grinding corn material, the difference in the initial weight of corn before grinding is 2 kg and after grinding is 1.96 kg for 3 minutes at 800 rpm or 40 kg/hour. The results of this design still need further development, in order to optimize its performance for corn grinders in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

A forklift is a type of truck that is operated to lift, move, and unload goods from one place to another. Forklift operation can be done indoors or outdoors. With the forklift can increase effectiveness and efficiency in operational activities. The use of forklifts can also ease the burden on employees, especially in terms of moving goods. The purpose of this final project is to design and manufacture a forklift with a 40 kg linear electrical actuator system. The initial process of lifting is to connect the cable from the switch to the accu then push the forklift handle tool towards the object or media to be lifted then, push the switch lever up according to the desired height, (Please note the maximum lifting height of this tool is 1700mm and the maximum load is 40 kg). After the object or media is lifted, push the tool to the seventh place, then lower the tool by pushing the switch lever down and then gently pull the forklift handle. The rest results show that this tool is able to lift loads for a long time with a maximum load weight of 40 kg and a maximum height of 1700 mm. The conclusion of making this final project is how to design and make forklift handles based on linear electrical actuators consisting of frames, actuators, dynamos with a power of 120 Volt and a battery current of 12 A. Applications used for the design of this tool are sketch-up. Equipment specifications working voltage 12 volts, maximum lifting height 1700mm, lifting load 40kg, operation using the ON OFF ON switch, and 12 volt Accu power source. To maximize the performance of this forklift tool can use a hydraulic system.

Abstract

An electric car is a car that is driven by an electric motor and uses electrical energy stored in a battery. The use of electric cars is considered effective in addition to not causing air pollution and simpler engine construction. In the use of electric cars, of course, requires a frame that functions as a support for all the loads on the vehicle. A frame construction itself must have strength, light weight and have flexibility value. In the design of the frame (chassis) of electric cars has a purpose, namely the shape of the frame design (chassis) of electric cars and the strength of the frame (chassis) of electric cars with the bending test method. In the use of frame construction used type of ladder frame (H), for the frame material itself using non-ferrous metal materials, namely Aluminium. In the connection process, a drilling process is used for keeling nails, from the design of the frame (chassis) of an electric car with a length of 223.5 cm, front width of 47.5cm, middle and rear width 33 cm and frame weight 24.40 kg. The bending testing process here uses 2 driver loads of 45 kg and 82 kg. Measurements are carried out through the balance point on the frame that has been obtained, so that the bending test obtained a deflection value of 0.3 cm with a driver weight of 45 kg and 0.6 cm with a driver weight of 82 kg, In the position before the load is given and after the load is given the deflection back in the initial position of 15.4 cm. Thus, the frame (chassis) of an electric car has met the requirements of the vehicle frame, which has a value of flexibility or flexibility and is light and strong.

Abstract

The traditional fish drying process carried out by fishermen by placing it under direct sunlight still causes several problems, such as rainy weather conditions and hygiene of the dried fish. The purpose of this research is to overcome the problems in the traditional fish drying process, by using a closed container photovoltaic dryer with the help of a heating element. The results obtained by using the dryer can save drying time which initially takes 3-5 days to only 12 hours. The drying process using this tool can work even if the weather conditions are rainy or at night. The total time required during the fish drying process reached 12 hours with light intensity rain weather conditions. The results obtained are much better than the traditional drying time which takes 3-5 days on average for the drying process. In addition to saving drying time, the salted fish is also visually more hygienic than the traditional drying process, because it is in a dryer that is protected from dirt and virus-carrying animals. The resulting product needs further testing from a health perspective, although it works well mechanically.

Abstract

Genset (generator set) is a device that functions to produce electrical power. Referred to as a generator set with the understanding that it is a set of combined equipment from two different devices, namely the engine and generator or alternator. Engine as a rotating device while the generator or alternator as a generating device. The development of the industrial world is so rapid, this increasingly advanced technology automatically encourages the rate of production to be even greater. The purpose of this work is to find out the work system on the generator engine/generator set, and determine the ability of the generator engine/generator set capacity.  Observations were made from February 24, 2023 to April 6, 2023, at PT Menara BOSOWA, South Sulawesi. Data collection techniques using two data, namely primary and secondary data. The method in maintaining the generator engine at PT. Menara Bosowa uses the Runing Test method. Based on the observation, it shows that the generator set/genset engine produces different data every six weeks. It is recommended that PT Menara Bosowa continue to apply the running test method as part of the maintenance system on their generator set engine. This will help maintain optimal engine performance, prevent unnecessary damage, and extend the life of the generator set. In addition, it is important to follow the genset manufacturer's recommendations and perform regular preventive maintenance to maintain the reliability and efficiency of the power generation system at PT Menara BOSOWA.

Abstract

The manufacture of clutch components from the factory has an estimate or limit of the use of clutch components that must be replaced if any damage occurs. The purpose of this observation is to find out how to maintain and repair the manual clutch system, and find out the problems that often occur when the manual clutch system is operated. To identify or find out the damage to the components of the manual clutch system, the type of qualitative data is used, namely data that is explanations and descriptions that are described. This type of Quantitative data is data that is a number obtained from informants such as age and date of birth. The results of observations show that the components that often experience damage to the manual clutch system on Hino FM 260 FM cars, Isuzu NKR 71 HD cars, and Hino Dutro 130 HD cars are upper clutch master rubber, booster rubber (wind clutch), lower clutch master rubber and clutch lining. What makes the clutch slip is the worn-out clutch lining and the high clutch pedal. The causes of clutch lining wear out quickly are excessive clutch use, transporting loads that exceed capacity and uneven or difficult road terrain. The observation report contributes advice to users of PT DSS operational vehicles in maintaining and repairing their vehicle units.
