Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the validity and practicality of the worksheets teaching materials. Based on the analysis of the activities in science learning, it was found that students were still less active in the learning process and lacked confidence in giving opinions during the ongoing learning process. One attempt which can be done to address this problem is by developing students' worksheet which can encourage students to be more active in learning. One approach we can use to develop students worksheet is using the Argument-Driven Inquiry Model, which emphasize on students' confidence in presenting their own argument in class. This development research employed three stages of the 4-D model, which consists of four stages namely define, design, develop and disseminate, Disseminate stage could not be done due to several considerations related to time constraint and expenses. The research instrument used were a validity and practicality questionnaire. This students worksheet was validated by 3 validators and tested for practicality on 5 grade VII students. The results showed that the developed students worksheet compiled and developed was very valid with a score of 80.02% and practicality by teachers of 90.29 and 90.88 at the category of very high. Therefore, this student worksheet can be implemented in learning. However, we would like to recommend for further research with regard to the Argument-Driven Inquiry so that the research is more valid.

Abstract

The educational process is directed at increasing the mastery of knowledge and skills and developing attitudes and values within the framework of student formation and self-development. Low learning outcomes of students in science lessons are among the educational issues encountered in the field. This is influenced by students' decreased interest in learning in class; there are still many students who are less active and motivated in learning, and the learning model used remains unchanged. Therefore, teachers should use an interesting learning model to create effective, innovative, and fun lessons so that students are more interested in learning science. This study aims to determine the effect of the jigsaw cooperative learning model on learning outcomes in the cognitive domain of students in the digestive system material in class VIII humans at SMPN 1 Lubuk Alung. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The experimental class uses a jigsaw cooperative learning model, while the control class uses a conventional learning model with the lecture method. The results of the data analysis showed that the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class were significantly different compared to the control class. The use of the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model has a good influence on improving student learning outcomes. The results of the hypothesis test based on the data obtained in the posttest data research, namely that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, are from the posttest value hypothesis through the t test. The data obtained are t count 2,93 and t table 2,00. The data shows tcount > ttable, which means that there is a difference in the average increase in student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. The jigsaw cooperative learning model has an effect on students' cognitive domain learning outcomes in the material of the human digestive system at SMPN 1 Lubuk Alung.

Abstract

Learning is a process of interaction between educators and students as well as learning resources in a learning environment. Interaction will work well if the teacher can explain learning correctly, is easy to understand and uses the right learning media. Teaching materials used by students during the learning process are literacy books and textbooks. There is no learning media in the form of a practicum guidebook so that it results in a directed and safe practicum activity not being carried out. Based on these problems, it is necessary to develop instructional media in the form of practicum guides as science teaching materials for class IX in junior high school. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) using a 4-D model which is only carried out until the development stage. The location of the research was at SMPN 14 Padang and FMIPA UNP. At the development stage, 3 expert validators, 3 science teachers and 30 class IX students of SMPN 14 Padang carried out the validation of the practicum guide. The results of the study show that the static electricity practicum guide is valid and practical.
