Abstract

Background: The purpose of this study was to determine how a libero contributes to a team during a volleyball match. The method used was a literature review. Literature searches were conducted through the Google Scholar database, focusing on articles published between 2020 and 2025. The keywords used were contribution, libero, and volleyball. Methods: The article screening process for this literature review followed the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. A total of 333 articles were initially identified and then filtered according to the inclusion criteria: (1) international articles published in English, and (2) articles accessible online and available for download. After screening, 94 articles related to the libero's contribution to volleyball matches were selected for further review. Ultimately, 8 articles met all eligibility criteria and were included in the study. Results: The findings of this literature review indicate that liberos possess valuable and highly effective skills that contribute significantly to team performance. These skills include high-quality serve reception, setting as a secondary setter, and strong defensive abilities. These elements are essential in volleyball because they help maintain the balance between offense and defense and enhance the competitiveness of the game. Conclusion: The libero plays a crucial role in volleyball by providing effective serve reception, acting as a secondary setter when necessary, and contributing strong defensive performance. These skills support the balance between attack and defense, thereby improving overall team performance and making matches more competitive.

Abstract

Background: The double category in pencak silat demands strong synchronization, harmony, precision, and consistency of movement between athletes to produce optimal performance. External imagery training is considered a mental training method that can support performance improvement because it helps athletes visualize movements from an observer’s perspective similar to the judging process in the double category. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of external imagery training on the performance of double-category pencak silat athletes in the Malang Raya area. The null hypothesis (H0) states that external imagery training has no effect on the athletes’ performance. Methods: The method used in this study is an experiment with a quantitative approach using a pre-test and post-test design on a single group. This study involved 12 pencak silat athletes in the double category as subjects. Results: The treatment of external imagery training has been proven to have an effect on improving the performance of double-category pencak silat athletes. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the paired samples t-test, a significance value of 0.033 was obtained, which is smaller than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. These results show that the probability value is smaller than 0.05, so the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that external imagery training has a significant effect on improving the performance of double-category pencak silat athletes after undergoing the training treatment. Conclusions: External imagery practice has a significant effect on improving the performance quality of pencak silat athletes in the doubles category and can be used as a mental training method to help enhance athlete performance in the doubles artistic event.

Abstract

Background: Volleyball in Madiun City is increasingly competitive, so it is necessary to improve physical condition. The UNIPMA Volleyball Team won 2nd place in the PPMI Volleyball Cup in the framework of the 10th PPI Anniversary. Of course, this must be maintained and must always be improved. Therefore, an explosive analysis of the leg muscle power of male and female volleyball players at PGRI Madiun University in 2026 must be carried out as a basis for determining the training program. Method: This study uses a survey method using test and measurement techniques. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The population is 30 athletes, a sample of 30 athletes as well, consisting of 15 male athletes and 15 female athletes. Using a total sampling technique. The test instrument uses a vertical jump test. Results: The results of male athletes with an average power of 439.2 joules / second (439 watts). The results of the female athletes' with an average power of 274.413 joules/second (274 watts). Conclusion: The power of male athletes with a percentage of 20% for the classification of "Very Good" and 80% for the classification of "Good". While the power of female athletes with a percentage of 40% for the classification of "Good" and 60% for the classification of "Medium".
