Abstract

The 12 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) policy announced by President Prabowo in his speech on December 31, 2024, represents a strategic issue reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering economic justice. This study aims to analyze the deliberative rhetoric employed by President Prabowo to rationalize the VAT policy, particularly regarding its alignment with the interests of the lower-income population. The research utilizes a qualitative scientific approach (Moleong, 2021), with Aristotle’s rhetorical theory as the analytical framework. Deliberative rhetoric, which focuses on future-oriented persuasion to encourage specific actions or avoid them, is applied to understand the communication strategies used in the speech. The findings reveal that President Prabowo effectively integrates the rhetorical elements of ethos, pathos, and logos to build public trust, mitigate resistance, and promote an equitable policy. The VAT policy is targeted at luxury goods and services, while essential goods remain tax-free. This approach underscores the government’s prioritization of the lower-income population and its positive impact on income redistribution through fiscal policy. Further analysis demonstrates that the deliberative rhetoric used has the potential to create positive public perceptions of the policy, provided its implementation is consistent and transparent. This study contributes to the discourse on political rhetoric and fiscal policy by highlighting the importance of strategic communication in garnering public support for government initiatives

Abstract

Oral cancer, particularly oral squamous cell carcinoma, is a prevalent and lethal disease that often metastasizes to surrounding tissues. Traditional treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy present various side effects, necessitating the exploration of alternative therapies. This study aims to determine the antioxidant value of the combination of ethanol extracts of srikaya leaves (Annona squamosa L) and matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata) against HSC-3 cell cytotoxicity. The antioxidant test on the combination of ethanol extracts of srikaya leaves and matoa leaves using DPPH assay to obtain IC50. HSC-3 cell lines were treated with a combination of ethanol extracts of srikaya leaves (Annona squamosa L) and matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata) with concentrations of 12.5 µl/ml, 25 µl/ml, 50 µl/ml, 100 µl/ml, and 200 µl/ml for 24 hours and tested with the CCK-8 assay method to calculate cell viability and obtain IC(50.The results of the antioxidant test of the combination of ethanol extracts of srikaya leaves (Annona squamosa L) and matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata) in the regression analysis results, obtained a significant value of p-Value = 0.033 <0.050, so it is stated that the concentration has a significant effect on inhibition. In the results of IC 50 obtained 7.62 µl / ml shows antioxidant activity is classified as very strong which is characterized by the value of IC 50 < 50 µl / ml. Statistical analysis using ANOVA followed by Tukey's HSD post hoc test obtained (p-Value = 0.000 with a correlation value of r = 0.599) means that the treatment given does not have a significant effect on the observation results. Ethanol extracts of srikaya leaves (Annona squamosa L) and matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata) have the potential to be made as a therapy using natural ingredients on anticancer HSC-3 cancer cells.

Abstract

Coastal reclamation is a land management strategy aimed at increasing the socio-economic and environmental benefits of coastal areas. However, it often leads to legal conflicts concerning land ownership, particularly when such reclamations are carried out without appropriate permits. This research aims to analyze the legal status of land rights for parties who carry out coastal reclamation by reviewing the DKI Jakarta High Court Decision Number 129/PDT/2022/PT DKI. The method used is a normative juridical approach by analyzing relevant laws and court decisions. The results show that reclaimed land is state land whose management is subject to strict regulations. In the case studied, PT Pelayaran Menaratama Samudra Indah was proven to have carried out reclamation without a valid permit, so it was declared unlawful by the DKI Jakarta High Court. In conclusion, any form of reclamation must comply with applicable regulations so as not to cause legal implications for the perpetrators and the surrounding community.

Abstract

Despite being regulated in Law Number 30 Year 1999, the effectiveness of arbitration in Indonesia still faces various challenges, such as lack of public understanding, high costs for small businesses, and limited arbitration infrastructure in the regions. Therefore, there is a need to evaluate and strengthen the role of arbitration to ensure that this mechanism can be a quick, fair solution and support business sustainability in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to assess the extent to which arbitration has been able to be an effective solution in resolving commercial disputes in Indonesia, identify factors that influence its success, and provide recommendations to increase its efficiency and trustworthiness as a fair and speedy dispute resolution alternative. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach to describe phenomena systematically and accurately. Data was collected through documentation techniques, analyzing various relevant documents such as reports, archives, or articles. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing validated through triangulation. The results showed that arbitration is an effective commercial dispute resolution mechanism in Indonesia because it offers a fast process, affordable costs, and a final and binding award. Its advantages include flexibility, confidentiality, and international recognition through the New York Convention. However, its optimization requires strengthening regulations and education to overcome challenges such as the lack of understanding of business actors and inconsistencies in the application of the law.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and determine the effect of company size, solvency, and profitability on the issuance of going concern audit opinions. The population of this research includes companies in the energy sub-sector manufacturing sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2018–2021. Using a purposive sampling method, 50 companies were selected as the sample. Secondary data was collected from the official IDX website and each company's website. Data analysis was conducted using statistical methods to examine the relationship between the variables studied. The findings indicate that company size has a positive and significant influence on going concern audit opinions, suggesting that larger companies are perceived to have stronger business continuity prospects. In contrast, solvency and profitability were found to negatively influence the issuance of going concern audit opinions. High levels of debt and low profitability signal financial instability, thereby increasing the auditors' concerns about the company’s future viability. These results highlight the importance for companies to manage their financial health carefully to avoid receiving adverse audit opinions regarding their going concern status. This research contributes to the literature on audit opinion determinants and provides practical insights for company management, auditors, and stakeholders regarding financial strategy and risk management to sustain business operations.

Abstract

The Philosophy of Mathematics holds a significant yet underexplored role in shaping mathematics education, particularly within Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum. Rooted in the principles of autonomy, critical thinking, and creativity, the curriculum provides a framework for integrating philosophical perspectives to enhance student engagement and understanding. This study critically examines the application of Paul Ernest’s social constructivist philosophy in mathematics learning, focusing on its theoretical implications and practical integration in classroom practices. Using a qualitative critical review approach, this research analyzes curriculum guidelines, academic literature, and empirical studies. The thematic analysis highlights the alignment between the Merdeka Curriculum’s principles and Ernest’s emphasis on collaborative learning and contextualized problem-solving. Interviews with educators reveal both challenges and opportunities in fostering a philosophical mindset, such as the need for teacher training and the potential for deeper conceptual understanding through reflective learning. The findings demonstrate that integrating the Philosophy of Mathematics enriches the teaching process by promoting critical thinking and connecting mathematical concepts to real-world applications. However, challenges such as limited teacher preparedness and systemic constraints need to be addressed. This study concludes by emphasizing the transformative potential of philosophy in mathematics education, advocating for a more intentional incorporation of philosophical principles to prepare reflective and competent learners.
