Abstract

The moment of the birth of a child is both the most stressful and exciting time because of the arrival of a baby. However, mothers who have just given birth often suffer from postpartum fatigue, especially in the early days, which results in disrupted sleep. Consequently, these mothers can easily become stressed and may experience postpartum blues or depressive disorders. This study aims to determine The Effect of Efflurage Massage on Sleep Quality in Postpartum Women at Bayu Asih Hospital, Purwakarta Regency in 2024. The research used a one-group pretest and posttest experimental design with a sample of 34 postpartum mothers. The study was conducted from July to August 2024. The dependent variable in this study was sleep quality among breastfeeding mothers. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate methods, using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Wilcoxon test for bivariate analysis. The results show that out of 34 postpartum mothers surveyed, the chi-square test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) for diet and 0.018 (< 0.05) for chronic disease, indicating that both diet and chronic diseases influence sleep quality. Regarding effleurage massage, a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) was obtained, allowing the conclusion that Efflurage Massage has a significant effect on sleep quality. Therefore, there is an effect of efflurage massage on sleep quality in postpartum mothers at Bayu Asih Hospital, Purwakarta Regency in 2024.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has transformed communication patterns, particularly in multilingual societies where language play (e.g., puns, wordplay) thrives as a creative and humorous form of interaction. Indonesia, with its rich linguistic diversity, serves as an ideal context to study this phenomenon, as social media users frequently blend regional languages, Indonesian, and foreign languages (e.g., English, Korean) to produce engaging and culturally resonant content. Despite its prevalence, research on multilingual language play in digital spaces remains limited, particularly regarding its linguistic mechanisms and sociocultural functions. This research aims to fill this gap by examining the types, techniques, and communicative roles of language games in Indonesian multilingual communities on social media. Using qualitative analysis, this study examines humorous multilingual content from Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Through purposive sampling of 100 public examples, it categorizes linguistic techniques and communicative functions, employing thematic and discourse analysis to uncover underlying patterns. The findings show that interlingual puns dominate, primarily using homophony for humor. These serve four key functions: aesthetic (beauty), interpersonal (bonding), cognitive (critical thinking), and ideological (social critique). They demonstrate multilingual speakers’ adaptability in navigating diversity while fostering inclusivity. Such language play transcends entertainment, emerging as a sophisticated tool reinforcing cultural identity, social cohesion, and critical discourse. These findings have implications for sociolinguistic research, digital communication strategies, and language education, suggesting that humor and multilingual creativity can enhance cross-cultural understanding and pedagogical innovation. Future research could explore cross-cultural comparisons or the role of algorithms in shaping linguistic trends on social media.

Abstract

Lower back pain is a common health issue that significantly affects productivity and imposes a considerable economic burden on individuals and society. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture in reducing lower back pain at Kebun Rumput Acupuncture Clinic in Cimahi. A quantitative observational design was used with 20 respondents, consisting of 10 men and 10 women, all experiencing lower back pain. Pain levels were assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) before and after six sessions of acupuncture therapy. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test to determine any significant changes in pain levels. The results indicated a significant reduction in pain, with an average decrease of 5.4 points on the pain scale. The p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) confirmed that acupuncture significantly alleviated lower back pain. The findings suggest that acupuncture is an effective alternative therapy for managing lower back pain, contributing to improved quality of life for patients. Further promotion of acupuncture as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is recommended, alongside increased education and training for healthcare professionals to enhance its acceptance and scientific validation.

Abstract

Babies should be given safe breast milk from birth to six months of age, without any other food or drink except vitamins and medicines. Breast milk is the key to the survival of both mother and baby. Meanwhile, breastfeeding coverage in the Ciseureuh Purwakarta Region in 2024 is projected to be 51.7%. Based on the above background, it shows that there is still a low level of exclusive breastfeeding by mothers for their babies. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of breast milk production on breastfeeding mothers aged 0-6 months in the Ciseureuh Purwakarta area in 2024. The population in this study includes all breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 0-6 months; the sample is divided into two groups, namely 20 respondents in the intervention group and 20 respondents in the control group. The Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. Therefore, it can be concluded that Oketani massage has an impact on breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers between 0-6 months old in the Ciseureuh Purwakarta area in 2024. There is an effect of Oketani massage on breastfeeding mothers aged 0-6 months in the Ciseureuh Purwakarta area in 2024. The study provides evidence-based support for scaling up this intervention to improve breastfeeding outcomes, particularly in regions with low exclusive breastfeeding rates. Future research should explore the long-term effects and cost-effectiveness of implementing Oketani massage programs in diverse healthcare settings.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to determine the effect of turmeric-tamarind administration on reducing dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls at Posyandu Ciseureuh Purwakarta. A total of 40 adolescent girls who met the inclusion criteria were randomly selected and divided into two groups: the intervention group, which received turmeric-tamarind administration, and the control group, which did not receive the intervention. Pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) to measure pain levels before and after the intervention. The results indicated a significant reduction in dysmenorrhea pain in the intervention group compared to the control group. This study suggests that turmeric-tamarind administration can effectively reduce dysmenorrhea pain in adolescents, offering a non-pharmacological alternative for pain management during menstruation. These results have important practical implications for adolescent healthcare. First, they provide evidence supporting the integration of this affordable, culturally acceptable traditional remedy into community health programs. Second, the study offers a viable non-pharmacological alternative to pain management that avoids side effects associated with conventional analgesics. For healthcare providers, these findings suggest the potential for developing standardized protocols for turmeric-tamarind administration in managing primary dysmenorrhea. Future research should explore optimal dosage and long-term effects to facilitate wider implementation of this intervention in public health settings.

Abstract

Sleep is a vital physiological need for infant growth and development. Its quality depends not only on duration but also on the restorative benefits gained during rest. In Indonesia, infant sleep disorders remain common, while parental awareness is still limited. A simple non-pharmacological intervention is infant massage with lavender telon oil, which contains linalool and linalool acetate, known for their calming effects. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of infant massage with lavender telon oil on the sleep quality of infants aged 3–12 months at the Ciseureuh Village Posyandu, Purwakarta District. The research applied a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design. The study population consisted of 32 infants aged 3–12 months, recruited through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire. Statistical analysis with a paired t-test showed a significant difference in infant sleep quality before and after the massage, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). These findings confirm that infant massage with lavender telon oil effectively improves sleep quality in infants. In conclusion, infant massage using lavender telon oil can serve as a simple, safe, and affordable intervention to enhance sleep quality. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for healthcare providers, community health workers, and parents in promoting optimal infant growth and development through effective, non-invasive strategies.

Abstract

Low appetite in toddlers is a common problem that can hinder growth and development. Complementary therapy from traditional Chinese medicine, particularly Tuina massage, is increasingly used and is believed to stimulate gastrointestinal function and improve appetite. This study aimed to determine the effect of Tuina massage on increasing toddlers’ appetite at Posyandu Kampung Sukamulya II, Ciseureuh Village. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest two-group design was applied with total sampling (n=40): 20 toddlers in the intervention group and 20 in the control group. Caregiver-reported appetite was measured using a standardized scale; data were analyzed with paired and between-group tests at α = 0.05. In the intervention group, mean appetite scores improved from 2.90 at pre-test to 1.15 at post-test (p = 0.000), indicating better appetite (lower scores reflect improvement). The control group showed no change (pre-test 2.90; post-test 2.90; p = 1.000). The between-group comparison after the intervention was significant (p = 0.007), confirming the effect of Tuina massage on appetite. In conclusion, Tuina massage effectively improves toddlers’ appetite and can be considered a simple, safe, and low-cost adjunct within community nutrition programs. Implementation at the posyandu level should be accompanied by training for cadres and parents and integrated with feeding counseling; future controlled studies with larger samples and longer follow-up are recommended to strengthen generalizability.

Abstract

Anatomical and hormonal changes cause the appearance of back pain complaints in pregnant women in the third trimester. The prevalence of back pain in Indonesia is 18%. Non-pharmacological methods such as effleurage massage and warm compresses can provide benefits in reducing back pain. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of warm water compresses with effleurage massage in reducing the intensity of back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester within the working area of the Maracang Health Center, Purwakarta Regency. This quantitative research employs a quasi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test two-group approach. The research sample consisted of 32 pregnant women in the third trimester, divided into two groups: the effleurage massage group and the warm compress group, with 16 respondents in each. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results of the independent samples t-test showed a p-value of 0.444, indicating that there was no significant difference between warm compresses and effleurage massage in reducing the scale of back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester; thus, both warm compresses and effleurage massage are equally effective in reducing back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester.
