Abstract

Employee performance is a critical factor in determining organizational success, particularly in service-based industries such as shipping, where operational efficiency and discipline are essential. However, differences in these factors often result in varying levels of employee performance. Therefore, understanding how these variables influence employee performance is important for companies in developing appropriate human resource management strategies. This research aims to analyze the effect of competence, work motivation, and work discipline on employee performance at PT Pelayaran Kartika Samudra Adijaya. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving permanent employees of the company as respondents. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using regression tests to examine the relationships between variables. The results show that competence and work motivation significantly influence employee performance, while work discipline acts as an intervening variable that strengthens these effects. This research provides theoretical and practical contributions for the company, especially in developing human resource management policies that can improve employee performance through enhanced competence, work motivation, and work discipline

Abstract

This research juridically analyzes the expansion of active of the Indonesian National Army placement in civilian positions under Article 47 of Law No. 3/2025, which raises concerns over the erosion of the 1998 Reformasi spirit that mandated civilian supremacy and strict military-civilian separation. This research aims to answer two problem formulations: first, analyzing the juridical implications of expanding the placement of active TNI soldiers in ministries, institutions, and civilian positions; and second, analyzing such expansion based on the principles of civil supremacy. The methods used are normative legal research with legislative and conceptual approaches, as well as descriptive qualitative data analysis. The results of this study show that the expansion of unconditional placement, resignation or retirement from active service is fundamentally contrary to the principles of civil supremacy and the democratic rule of law. The juridical implications are internal conflicts of norms that reduce legal certainty, the creation of dualism of legal status (military and civil), violations of the principle of meritocracy and equal treatment before the law, and threats to the independence of judicial/law enforcement institutions such as the Supreme Court and the Attorney General's Office. The reconstruction of the norms of Article 47 of the TNI Law is suggested by requiring every soldier who wants to occupy civilian positions to give up their active service status (retire or resign) for the sake of upholding the principle of one man, one job, one loyalty

Abstract

This study is motivated by differences in online media coverage regarding President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to join the Board of Peace, which has generated diverse interpretations in the public sphere. These differences indicate the existence of reality construction shaped by the media through the way information is presented. The purpose of this study is to analyze how online media frame the event and how meaning is constructed through news texts. This study employs the concept of media framing using the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki model, which emphasizes the analysis of syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures in news texts. The method used is a qualitative approach with media text analysis techniques, where data were obtained through documentation of two news articles from Kompas.com and Tempo.co selected purposively based on relevance and differences in perspectives. The results show that Kompas.com frames the event with a moderate approach by emphasizing a balance between peace efforts and diplomatic risks, while Tempo.co highlights optimism toward peace efforts before presenting criticism at the end of the coverage. These differences are reflected in the structure of information presentation, narrative patterns, and language use that influence readers’ interpretations. This study concludes that the media play an active role in constructing reality, allowing a single event to be interpreted differently depending on the framing used in the news, and highlighting the importance of critical awareness in understanding media information.

Abstract

The banking sector is structurally dependent on the continuous collection and processing of personal data, making data governance an inherent component of banking operations rather than a discretionary practice. This study examines personal data protection in the Indonesian banking sector by applying Helen Nissenbaum’s theory of Contextual Integrity as a normative analytical framework. Using a normative juridical approach and qualitative textual analysis, the research analyzes the privacy policies of four state-owned banks Bank Mandiri, BRI, BTN, and BNI to assess how norms governing information flows are articulated at the policy level. The analysis focuses on five core elements of Contextual Integrity: social context, actors and social relations, data attributes, transmission principles (purposes), and the integrity of contextual boundaries across data uses. The findings show that privacy policies in state-owned banks largely function as instruments of formal legal compliance rather than as normative statements clarifying the appropriateness of information flows within the banking context. While purposes of data processing are relatively explicit, multiple processing contexts such as core banking services, digital platforms, and marketing activities are often aggregated without clear normative boundaries. This weakens the articulation of trust-based norms and increases the risk of context collapse, particularly in relation to secondary uses of customer data.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the misuse of Chinese structural particles, namely 的 (de), 地 (de), and 得 (de) in students of Panglima Polem Rantau Prapat College. These particles have different grammatical functions, but in practice learning often cause confusion for Chinese learners. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of written tests and analysis of student answer results. The results of the study show that the error of using particles is still quite high. The most common mistakes occur in the use  of 的 and 地 because students have not understood the difference in functions between attributive and adverbial ones. In addition, some students are also still mistaken in using 得 as a complementary marker of results and degrees. Factors that cause errors include lack of grammatical understanding, the influence of mother tongue, and lack of contextual practice. This research is expected to contribute to Chinese language learning, especially as an evaluation material for teachers in determining particle teaching strategies so that they are more effective and easy to understand by students.

Abstract

The minimum wage policy is one of the important instruments in the labor law system in Indonesia that aims to provide protection to workers and ensure the fulfillment of a decent livelihood. However, in practice, the determination of the minimum wage still faces various problems that affect its effectiveness in improving the welfare of workers. This study aims to analyze the regulation and mechanism of setting minimum wages in Indonesia, as well as examine various problems that arise in its implementation from the perspective of worker protection. The research method used was normative legal research with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The legal materials used consist of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials collected through literature studies and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study show that normatively the regulation of the minimum wage has been regulated in various laws and regulations, and the determination mechanism involves the central government, local governments, and the Wage Council consisting of elements of the government, employers, labor unions, and academics. However, in practice, there are still various problems, such as the amount of the minimum wage that has not fully met the needs of a decent life, the difference in interests between workers and employers, and the influence of economic and investment policies on wage policies. Therefore, a more comprehensive and equitable wage policy is needed so that the determination of the minimum wage can function optimally as an instrument to protect workers while supporting sustainable economic development

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how sales promotion and product quality affect consumers' decision to buy Ikawangi MSME egg noodles in Karawang Regency. A total of 96 people participated in this descriptive quantitative study, including Ikawangi Egg Noodle traders and regular consumers. Multiple linear regression was used to assess data collected from a closed-ended questionnaire on a five-point Likert scale. The findings show that purchasing decisions are positively and significantly influenced by sales promotions and product quality. While sales promotion is important for attracting attention and creating purchase intent, product quality is a key element that influences a customer's purchase decision. Purchasing decisions are most influenced by product quality, with sales promotion coming in second. This shows that attractive advertising strategies and high-quality products can increase consumer attention and purchase choices. This research provides an empirical contribution for local MSMEs, especially Ikawangi, in strengthening competitiveness through improving product quality and implementing more innovative and sustainable promotional strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the role and function of Public Relations (Public Relations) in managing social conflicts between PT Satria Bahana Sarana (PT SBS) and local communities in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra. Social conflicts between mining companies and the surrounding community are a phenomenon that often occurs due to differences in interests, misunderstandings of communication, and high expectations of the community. This research uses a constructivist-critical paradigm with a descriptive qualitative approach and case study methods. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with eight informants, direct observation, and documentation. The analysis uses the theory of Conflict Management Styles from Thomas-Kilmann (in Wirawan, 2010) and is supported by the public relations theory of Cutlip, Center, and Broom (2006), symmetrical two-way communication of Grunig and Hunt (1984), and the theory of legitimacy of Suchman (1995). The results of the study show that conflicts that occur are generally situational with low intensity, triggered by miscommunication, differences in interests, high public expectations, and uneven distribution of information. PT SBS Public Relations applies five conflict management styles dynamically: accommodating, avoidant, collaborative, compromise, and competitive, which are adjusted to the characteristics and urgency of the conflict. Supporting factors for the implementation of the role of Public Relations include management support, clear SOPs, persuasive approaches, responsiveness, and sustainable CSR programs. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are slow decision-making due to organizational hierarchy, suboptimal internal coordination, and uneven distribution of information. This research emphasizes the importance of preventive communication, early public relations involvement, and strengthening the capacity of the public relations team to maintain a harmonious relationship between the company and the community.
