Abstract

The need for up-to-date and dynamic information services in hotel operations encourages the use of automated interactive systems to support guest service activities. One widely used approach to provide such services is the implementation of chatbots, which can be developed using either rule-based models or generative models. Generative chatbot models are capable of producing more flexible and natural responses. However, their development requires the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to enable deeper contextual understanding. Despite their advantages, standard LLM-based chatbots still face significant limitations, particularly in generating specific and reliable responses, and may produce incorrect or hallucinated information when relevant context is unavailable. To address this technical challenge, this study proposes the implementation of the Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) approach in the development of an LLM-based hotel chatbot, with a case study conducted at Hotel Forriz Yogyakarta. The proposed system adopts a RAG architecture consisting of three main stages: indexing, retrieval, and generation, allowing the chatbot to retrieve relevant external hotel documents as contextual input before producing responses. System performance is evaluated using the RAGAS framework on 15 test cases comprising user queries, generated answers, ground truth references, and retrieved contexts. The evaluation results show that the RAG-based chatbot achieves strong performance, with a Context Precision score of 0.889, Context Recall of 1.0, Faithfulness of 0.882, and Answer Relevancy of 0.851. These findings indicate that the RAG approach effectively improves response relevance and reduces hallucination in hotel information services.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a disease that occurs due to complete or partial kidney damage. The impact of this kidney failure is the inability to filter kidneys, so treatment methods include hemodialysis and fluid restriction. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and medication adherence in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study used a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study design. The sampling technique used a total sampling of 33 respondents using Spearman's analysis. Results: The self-efficacy of CKD patients at Djasamen Saragih Regional Hospital with HD durations of <1 year was shown to be moderate, 21.2% (7) had high self-efficacy, and 12.1% (4) had low self-efficacy. The majority of CKD patients undergoing HD durations of <1 year (97%) were compliant with medication, while 3% (1) were non-compliant. The 2-tailed significance value (Significant) is 0.853 > 0.05, thus it can be concluded that there is no relationship between self-efficacy and treatment adherence in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients at Djasamen Saragih Regional General Hospital, Pematang Siantar. Healthcare workers are expected to continue providing counseling to improve the self-efficacy of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and to encourage families to continue providing support, motivation, and communication to patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract

Khat is grown for the production of young tender twigs which are chewed for their stimulating effects. For a very long time, khat production has been taking place in the Nyambene hills, North East of Mount Kenya. Currently, the khat industry is no longer the sole preserve of the Meru. Rather it has become a multiethnic phenomenon; as khat plantations have sprung all over Embu County. Its consumption too is on the increase. Because of this, the marketing and distribution is sufficiently flexible to allow a large number of people to engage in the business and make a living from khat, thus the children have not been left out.  Khat requires very frequent harvests and this therefore, calls for adequate labour so that it can be picked, packaged and transported very fast hence the involvement of children in its picking. Although children are expected to work within the family setting where they assist with the household chores and farm work as a way of socialization, concerns have been raised over primary school children’s participation in khat production. On one hand, their participation helps to uplift the household economy while at the same time affecting their education. This is a review paper that describes the push and pull factors responsible for children’s participation in khat production and the consequences of their involvement. Going forward the paper suggests measures to safeguard children from the identified adverse consequences of their involvement.

Abstract

The rapid proliferation of indoor Internet of Things (IoT) systems has intensified the need for cost-effective and energy-efficient wireless coverage extension solutions. Conventional commercial WiFi repeaters are often over-provisioned in terms of hardware capability and power consumption, making them unsuitable for small-scale IoT laboratories and energy-constrained environments. Although microcontroller-based platforms such as the ESP32 have been widely used for IoT gateways, their systematic evaluation as Network Address Translation (NAT)-based WiFi repeaters remains limited. This paper presents the design, implementation, and experimental performance evaluation of a low-cost ESP32-based NAT WiFi repeater for indoor IoT networks. The proposed architecture operates in dual-mode (Station + Access Point) configuration using a single 2.4 GHz radio interface and software-based NAT forwarding. Hardware optimization, including Bluetooth deactivation and transmission power tuning, is applied to reduce energy overhead. Experimental measurements conducted in an indoor laboratory environment evaluate throughput, latency, received signal strength indicator (RSSI), and power consumption. Results indicate that the proposed system achieves 15–35 Mbps throughput under single-client conditions, with an average latency increase of 3–8 ms compared to direct router connections. The repeater improves signal strength by up to 18 dB in weak-coverage areas, extending effective indoor coverage by approximately 10–20 m. Measured power consumption remains below 1.2 W during active forwarding, significantly lower than typical commercial repeaters. The main contribution of this work lies in providing a quantified energy–performance characterization of a microcontroller-based NAT repeater.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of qawlan kar?man in Surah Al-Isr?’ verse 23 based on Tafsir Al-Azhar by Hamka and to examine its relevance as a foundation for communication ethics among Generation Z in the digital era. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a library research design. Primary data were obtained from Surah Al-Isr?’ verse 23 and its interpretation in Tafsir Al-Azhar, while secondary data were derived from contemporary literature on digital communication and Generation Z. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify ethical communication values contained within the exegetical text. The findings indicate that qawlan kar?man encompasses values of verbal politeness, respect for human dignity, emotional self-control, refinement of character, and social moral awareness. From Hamka’s perspective, the nobility of speech is not merely related to word choice but reflects inner quality and moral education. These values demonstrate significant relevance within the context of Generation Z’s digital communication, which is characterized by intense online interaction, rapid expression, and potential verbal conflict. This study concludes that qawlan kar?man can be formulated as a model of digital communication ethics grounded in Qur’anic values, emphasizing moral responsibility, respect for others, and awareness of the social impact of communication. The concept contributes theoretically to the development of Islamic communication ethics studies and practically to strengthening value-based digital literacy.

Abstract

The placement of active members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in civil service positions has resurfaced as a debated issue within Indonesia's post-reform constitutional dynamics. Normatively, Law Number 34 of 2004 concerns the Indonesian National Armed Forces limits the placement of active soldiers to specific ministries and agencies to maintain military professionalism and the principle of civilian supremacy. However, recent developments through Law Number 3 of 2025 regarding the Amendment to Law Number 34 of 2004 have expanded the scope of civil service positions accessible to active TNI personnel. Furthermore, practical implementation shows instances of active soldiers being placed in civil positions beyond the prevailing statutory provisions. This research aims to analyze the legal regulations regarding the placement of active TNI members in civil service positions and its implications for the principles of TNI professionalism and civilian supremacy in a democratic state. This study utilizes a normative legal research method with a statutory approach, a conceptual approach, and a historical approach. The results indicate that while the regulations for placing active TNI personnel are clearly delineated in the TNI Law and related regulations, the practice of placing active soldiers outside these provisions creates potential conflicts of norms, undermines the principle of civilian supremacy, and threatens the professionalism of the military institution. Consequently, the enforcement of legal certainty and the strengthening of oversight mechanisms are essential to ensure that the placement of TNI personnel in civil positions remains aligned with the principles of the rule of law and democracy.
