Abstract

Using the framework of Emile Durkheim's theory of social solidarity, this research analyzes the social transformation that occurred in the Yogyakarta Fight Club community in the context of local social problems. In Fight Club, the phenomenon of klitih, which indicates social dysfunction and mechanical solidarity, was successfully transferred to a more organized and systematic boxing activity. These activities lead to organic solidarity, where people from different backgrounds come together based on common goals and rules. Fight Club successfully brings back people who previously engaged in violent behavior into society by setting new, more constructive standards. Studies show that Fight Club Yogyakarta is not only a place to channel bad emotions, but also plays an important role in restoring social harmony.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the economic empowerment model of the community based on agriculture and tourism in Janari Village, Gatra Hamlet, Pakis District, Magelang. Using a qualitative approach, the study describes how the community leverages local potentials, such as vegetable and coffee crops, and integrates them into educational tourism. The younger generation plays a vital role in driving innovation, from managing agricultural products to digital marketing through social media and e-commerce. Challenges such as limited capital, weather, and pests are effectively addressed through strategies like crop diversification, intercroppingtechniques, and careful financial planning. Moreover, the development of educational tourism creates new market opportunities and increases community income without relying on middlemen. The implemented empowerment model demonstrates that combining local potential, technological innovation, and youth participation can build a self-sufficient and sustainable village economy. This study is expected to inspire other villages to optimize their local potentials effectively.

Abstract

The ongoing rejection of the construction of the Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) Maranatha Church in the Cikuasa neighborhood, Gerem Subdistrict, Grogol District, Cilegon City, remains a pressing issue. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (2024), the non-Muslim population in the area numbers in the thousands, comprising 7,072 Protestants, 1,885 Catholics, 248 Hindus, 1,688 Buddhists, and 10 Confucians. The Muslim majority comprises 459,474 individuals. Despite this religious diversity, not a single house of worship, such as a vihara, temple, shrine, or church, has been permitted to stand in Cilegon City. This study employs Johan Galtung’s theory of conflict transformation to analyze how youth-led initiatives can foster efforts toward conflict transformation. The research adopts a qualitative, descriptive-narrative approach, with data collected through literature studies. The findings reveal that the conflict surrounding places of worship in Cilegon reflects deeply entrenched structural and cultural issues. Youth possess significant potential as agents of change and peacebuilders in the process of conflict transformation. Youth-based approaches are vital in assisting conflicting parties in identifying appropriate strategies for conflict resolution and in building long-term, harmonious relationships. Drawing upon Johan Galtung’s theory of conflict transformation, this study recommends enhancing the capacity of youth as peacemakers through youth empowerment and peace education. Such efforts can contribute to the development of an inclusive society that upholds the values of humanity, unity, and peace.

Abstract

Religious diversity in Indonesia is often challenged by the potential for conflict based on ethnic, religious, racial, and intergroup differences (commonly referred to as SARA). However, amid frequent incidents rooted in such tensions, the village of Toabo in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, stands out as a success story in maintaining social harmony. This has been achieved through its effective implementation of religious moderation within a diverse community. This study examines the key factors that have contributed to the success and sustainability of Toabo as a Village of Religious Moderation. Employing a qualitative analytical case study approach, data were collected through literature review and interviews with local residents, religious leaders, and government officials. The findings reveal that the availability of worship facilities for all religious groups, interfaith participation in social and religious activities, the active roles of religious leaders and village authorities in fostering harmonious relations, equitable distribution of power, and the integration of religious moderation values into the school curriculum are among the critical factors contributing to Toabo's success and sustainability as a model of religiously moderate community living.

Abstract

The Luk Ulo River in Central Java, Indonesia, faces severe ecological degradation due to unregulated sand mining activities, threatening its biotic, abiotic, and socio-economic functions. This study examines the environmental crisis from a spiritual-ecological lens by integrating Sufi perspectives within Islamic environmental ethics. Using a qualitative descriptive approach based on an extensive literature review, the research explores the potential of tasawuf ekologis (ecological Sufism) as a transformative framework to rebuild the spiritual connection between humans and nature. The findings reveal that current legal and technical approaches remain insufficient in addressing the root causes of ecological destruction, which are deeply tied to human disconnection from spiritual values. Core Sufi principles such as zuhud (asceticism), muraqabah (spiritual vigilance), and rahmah (compassion) offer an ethical foundation for sustainable environmental stewardship. This study recommends integrating eco-theological education, promoting community-based sustainable livelihoods, and engaging religious leaders as agents of change. The proposed approach positions ecological Sufism not only as a moral paradigm but also as a culturally resonant strategy for grassroots ecological transformation. Future empirical research is needed to assess community reception and practical implementation of this spiritual-environmental model across diverse ecological settings.
